    When evaluating 2024, and determining "WHY?", #1 has to be Bally Sports disrupting the expected revenues. That limited the choices CY and Ownership could consider. When you look at DeGrom, Leiter, and Rocker as a staff in 2025, you have a) to be excited for that pitching possibility and b) to believe that this year's hitting funk can be corrected. Combined with some difficult departures/trades gives massive hope for 2025. Most fans are OK with that after winning the WS last year. Please keep doing these videos, Evan. They are very good!!!

    Looking through Cot's Baseball Contracts, Texas isn't in a bad situation as far as CBT is concerned. Their Arbs aren't too bad, except Lowe. There is quite a bit of validity to the allocation of those dollars. First: Leiter and Rocker are improving. Second: Gray and Garcia are final year guys and would have trade value which would open $21MM (CBT). Moving those two puts you at $116MM under CBT. That's a nice chunk of change to operate with. Third: put together a trade package. Cole Winn, Owen White. Duran, Smith, Foscue. Maybe Heim. I think value can be built for the trade market. This isn't as bleak as some think.

    Pausing and addressing: If CY is doing three jobs, has he decided which job he wants? There is a business side which has the challenge of stabilizing revenue, CY is a former pitcher, can he do that job? President of Baseball Operations seems to encompass minors and majors. The Rangers are at the bottom of that list, but do have a few stars in the making. Does he want that job? GM seems to keep his eye on the major league team and putting the pieces together for a run. Does he want that job? And when decided, who are the other two people occupying those jobs. Could the delay be, let's get in or out of the playoffs, then put the team in place. I'm confident CY and two other people will fill out the FO and the offseason will go full speed.

    The pathetic offense is still stinking to high heaven in June. They’re at the bottom of not only the American League but all of baseball in every offensive category. Bochy could put the pitchers batting and it wouldn’t be any different from watching the position players flail away hitting dinky grounders, lazy pop ups and easy fly balls.

    It’s just not happening though. They got swept in Colorado, a last place team last weekend and now they’re getting destroyed by another last place team, the L.A. Angels. No pitching, pathetic offense and the kind of fielding you see on little league teams.

      Most pens aren't very good, but if you have a good offense and good rotation you can overcome a bad pen. The Rangers have both plus as you pointed out this pen won't be as bad as last year's pen so they'll be able to survive hiccups easily this time around.

    • @LinkRocks
      @LinkRocks 6 місяців тому

      I wouldn't worry about the offense. It comes and goes over 162 games, they'll find their stride sooner than later. The middle part of their pen is the biggest issue right now and once Sborz returns that should calm things down in that part of the game. They were 16-11 last April, starting off "slow" is what they do.

    • @Vilmar1989

    They should have gotten a real closer during the off season. Leclerc is terrible. The bullpen was horrible last year. I just can't believe they didn't make the much-needed upgrades when they had the chance during the off season.

  • @JDtheDJ2009
    @JDtheDJ2009 7 місяців тому

    I think it's important to differentiate that the bullpen failed in the regular season. It was borderline spectacular in the post season. I think that means in small sample sizes Bochy can manage mediocre pitching. Unfortunately the regular season is such a grind that it exposes even good pitchers at times. LeClerc is not a closer. Even if he does perform the role well at times he's not consistent enough to rely on and the key to the Rangers success early last year was building up enough of a W-L buffer to survive some offensive dry spells. I don't think they have that luxury this year. They need someone to nail down the ninth in games where the offense has done enough and they need to strengthen the mid/long relief role for games where the offense is having a hard time getting on track and the starter struggles. Adding Lorenzen and Max may help but not sure the Rangers can afford to sacrifice games early in the hopes of some relief later. We'll see.

  • @charlestucker660
    @charlestucker660 7 місяців тому

    If we get Scherzer and Mahle back on schedule and we don't have any new injuries, would you consider deGrom for closer for the remainder of the season and into the postseason?? Would that do more harm than good?? This way he can pitch this season and go back to ace next season.

  • @sof5930
    @sof5930 7 місяців тому

    The offense looks less potent with Jung and Lowe out. Langford is off to a good start. I was expecting a HR or 2 by now. 1 win out of 3 vs the As is a missed opportunity to add to the win column. Tough road trip coming up.
