Nice tour! We have been to Jekyl Island several times and enjoy exploring and biking on the bike trails .
love mine!
I enjoy watching you, you're cool, hopefully we'll share a cup o joe on the trail one day. Thanks for doing what you do.
Thanks for following my journey! 🥾♥️
SO inspirational! I want to do this SO bad, now! I hike a lot and get lost every single time even when I have both a paper map and online mapping! I think I maybe could do it, though, with blazes to follow and so many people on the trail.
Oi. Just a flimsy rain cover. That's my next step tho. If I upgrade my tent and get a larger lighter backpack, I will shave off a significant amount, I forgot what. $$$
Happy New Year Laura! 😊🎉🎊🎆. You are still hanging in there! 💪 So proud of you! Loved the fashion show thanks for sharing it again. Hike On!! 🥾🏕️💪
Thanks Sue!
Kara Kirtley mentioned you in her video the other day. She did her first day as an Appalachian Trail Ridgerunner....very cool. ☺
I will have to check that out!
I’m kinda shocked Dan hasn’t commented on your vlog yet 🤔 He’s getting kinda slack!
My wife and I camped there back when in the summer… bad choices… got eaten up by mosquitoes. But we loved the time there.
The mosquitos and ticks are terrible on the island during the summer months.
Hey that's where we met!!!great times for sure & lucky is awesome!!
Yes it was! 🥾♥️
Hi Next Stump! We love following your journey! Thanks for sharing and keep it up!! ❤
Thank you so much! I appreciate the support! 🥾♥️
I stayed there for 1 night back in March and enjoyed it.
Was it easy to arrange pick-up at Woody Gap? Someone said to call from the top of Ramrock.
@ it was a rainy day and others were being picked up and I jumped on the band wagon. I was blessed they had room for me.
ah sun bathing sounds good!
Thanks! If all goes well, that will be my first stop in February.
Happy trails! 🥾♥️
Something I have wanted to do, and a coworker did. Can't any more, but please do go and fill that dream. (I now have mobility issues)
Stayed there in 21. It was great!
Jekyll is my second favorite place in Ga. ( Savannah being the first Place.). If people are interested in finding out more about how the rich established the Federal Reserve (slinking onto Jekyll in the middle of the night so they wouldn’t be recognized) they can read THE CREATURE FROM JEKYLL ISLAND. There is an enormous amount of history on this island plus a fun place to visit. Thanks for bringing this place to your followers for a quick visit. Love your videos.
Happy 2025. Watching for more of your adventures.
Happy New Year to you as well! 🥳
That sounds like a good read! Thanks for the recommendation.
@@peaks4pounds I bought that book on line but they do sell it at the museum/gift shop on the island .
You go girl! 🎉🎉🎉
I stayed here 2022. I was doing a LASH and was hurt. Took several zeros. Danniella and Dave were unbelievable hosts. Wanted to stay when I was doing my thru hike in 24 but it was temporarily closed. They had family issues. I hope all was okay. No one is more important than family and friends. SloMoe22/Percy24.
I stayed with them for two weeks last March and they slack packed me for sixty miles. Amazing folks!
"And the gator shall lie down with the turtle..." 😂 Thanks for sharing, interesting history!
😆
We went there this past Fall. It was really beautiful.
Season's Greetings to both of you! I wonder what that concrete mound was for that the alligator and turtles were sunning on?
It was a concrete platform of some sort. Didn't seem to serve any purpose other than a spot for wildlife to sun themselves on.
Are you going to hike the AT in the future?
I plan to hike it in sections. Love, love, love, the A.T. 🥾♥️
Merry Christmas! Those turtles were quite big too. Alligator just a sunning
Merry Christmas! 🎄
merry merry next stump be blessed
Merry Christmas! 🎄
I had the opportunity to visit the island in the mid 80’s when I was stationed at Ft.Stewart. Beautiful area!
Jekyll Island is a wonderful place to visit.
There were a lot of ticks at Thanksgiving our dog got covered. Loved seeing the gators when we went
We were fortunate not to get any attached, but they were there!
Merry Christmas Laura and Jaime! Wishing you a happy and healthy holiday season! Looking forward to 2025 adventures!! 🥾🥾🎄⛺️🥰
Merry Christmas! 🎄
Its so beautiful
Those gators! Eek!🐊
It was quite the surprise!
Merry Christmas Laura and Jaime! Looking forward to your 2025 adventures!
Merry Christmas to you too! 🎄
Great tent, I’m looking at the non-pro version.
That looks like a great tent as well!
I am trying to decrease my pack weight so I can carry my chair zero. I have a musculoskeletal disorder that makes it very difficult to get up off the ground. If I don’t take the chair zero, I will switch to the larger bear vault and use that to sit on. Which means getting my weight down by 2.5 lbs. so looking at tents presently. Plus on most of my two week or less trips, if a dog is allowed on trail, my little yorkiepoo goes with me. Although small. I think the two of us would be much more comfortable in a two person. Plus I am also fluffy…..lol….
I would definitely choose the two-person model if I had it to do over again.
Hi Laura do you have a video of how you make videos? Editing, storage, uploading, etc.I'm struggling to make them and wondering what you use and how you do it. MERRY CHRISTMAS and hope you have a wonderful 2025!
Hi Ellie! I haven't made an editing video (yet). I tend to keep it has simple as possible by using the iMovie app for videos I shoot with my iPhone. I also use (in this video) an Osmo Action 5 Pro action camera, with which I use their editing app. Video storage is starting to get tricky as I have made so many videos. I will probably be purchasing an external hard drive to store my content on.
So glad to see your review video. Looks like you had a great first pitch. I have not found any major cons for my Durston XMid pro2. My favorite thing about it is the fact that I can clean myself up and change in there at the end of a long hike with plenty of space. I’ve been able to keep all my gear inside too. I should mention I’m short so that helps give me lots of space inside. Thanks for your review. Happy trails to you. 🥾
Getting changed inside the X-Mid Pro 1 is challenging. I would love to have that extra space. Thanks for watching my video!
Thank you for your review. Is this the tent you used on the AT? Did it work well for you? If not, would you mind sharing how this one compares with what you used on the AT?
Yes, this is the tent I've been using on the A.T. It has worked quite well so far.
Good tent ⛺️ review. I've been curious about the Durston. Happy Holidays, Laura!! 🎄
Thank you! Happy Holidays! 🥾🎄
Merry Christmas Laura!! Have a wonderful holiday season! ⛺️🥾🥾🥰🎄🥶❤️
Merry Christmas! 🥾🎄
Merry Christmas Laura! 🎄🎁🎅🎁Keep up the good hiking! 🥾your doing it little by little! Proud of you.
Thank you Sue. Merry Christmas! 🥾🎄
It’s beautiful in that park. I’m envious. It’s 18 degrees today in NJ. You’re fortunate that you can hike. I have to go to the gym and use the treadmill which is no where near as much fun as being outdoors in the sunshine. Thanks for bringing us along.
Thank you for following along! 🥾♥️
Great video thanks!😊❤️
Thank you!
Good to see you're still at it! 🐻🌲
Thanks for following along! 🥾♥️
thanks next stump
Are you back in Savannah. Lovely city.
Yes, Savannah is very charming. I live just south of the city.
What does the 2 person weigh?
Just a couple ounces more!
Great to see you. Thanks for the review. I like my 2 person Nemo Hornet Elite but it is much heavier than Durston. But I use mine for bike packing.
I've heard very good things about that Nemo tent!
Have you hiked the Foothills Trail in SC and NC yet? How about Pictured Rocks National Seashore in Michigan? While much shorter hikes at 77 miles and 45 miles respectively, they are beautiful, challenging, and great achievements. I completed Pictured Rocks last year at 54 years old and will be 55 next spring when attempting the Foothills Trail. Keep chasing those dreams!
I've hiked portions of the Foothills Trail. I have my eyes set on a thru-it once it is open again. Unfortunately it sustained a lot of damage from hurricane Helene. And Pictured Rocks is definitely on my bucket list! I lived in Michigan years ago before moving to Georgia. 🥾♥️
I was there several years ago.
That's a beautiful building ❤. Just think how much time and energy went into building it. Thanks for sharing!
The C.C.C. did amazing work!
Enjoyed the hike! A good place to be this time of year!
Thanks for following along! 🥾♥️
Great wisdom. Thanks for posting. This year I WON'T be subscribing to FB Class of 25. Tired of the toxicity.
Agreed!
