Hammond organs have a magical sound, and in the hands of Red Young it’s a carpet ride.

Red Young has been on keys for most of his life. In the last 20 plus his energy has been spent on the Hammond B3 organ. A staple in Blues and Jazz music, and a big sound here in Austin Texas.
Having Red Young on stage for the students, staff and attendees to this year’s masterclass brought us all a special treat. The guest appearance from Chris McQueen brought the blues into the soul.
Each day students, faculty, and family members were honored to have professional musicians in the jazz and blues industry take us to school during the masterclasses. These workshops taught valuable skills and provided an opportunity to ask the pros about music, and their experiences. A real treat every year has been to see our day-to-day instructors head to the stage to play along this jazz and blues greats.
A little information about the camp:
Texas Jazz & Blues Camp welcomes students from 11 to adult, with most in their mid-teens. Previous jazz experience is preferred but not required, as long as the student has the equivalent of 2 years’ experience on their instrument and has an interest in learning to improvise.
