Rock sliders for the Lady in Red! (Ep.8)
While we still don't have our Sidekick "The lady in Red" ready for the road yet, we're getting her closer to trail ready!
This time Darin fits up some sliders he pre-built. In the past, Balmer Fab has only offered weld-on sliders for Sidekicks, but now, the Lady provides a platform on which to design bolt-on mounts. Balmer sliders have never been easier to install for customers and the Lady is well protected from obstacles as well!

2-Door Tracker/Sidekick/Sunrunner ARB Bumper Install
Переглядів 2,4 тис.Рік тому
This time at Balmer's Workshop, an ARB bumper is installed on a 1st generation Geo Tracker. I contrast the installation of this bumper against my own offering, which can be found at www.balmerfab.com, because the ARB is advertised a strictly bolt-on "no vehicle mods" installation, whereas the Balmer Fab bumpers require vehicle modifications in order to be installed. As you'll see, this bumper n...

Bumper Fit-Ups - the Sidekick starts to serve its purpose... (Ep.6)
Переглядів 1,6 тис.Рік тому
Finally our Sidekick "The Lady in Red" gets to try on some new armour in the form of front and rear bumpers by Darin's company Balmer Fabrication. The vehicle was bought with the intention of using it as a jig to align the mounting brackets on these bumpers so it's nice to see it serving it's purpose. To check out a front bumper build in detail, including the vehicle modifications needed to mou...

Installing a Balmer Fab Rear Bumper on a 1st Gen, 4-Door Sidekick/Tracker - Instructions and More!
Переглядів 3,9 тис.2 роки тому
This time, at Balmer's Workshop, I go into probably too much detail on how to install a Balmer Fab rear bumper on a 1st gen (1989-1998), 4-Door Sidekick/Tracker. The process is actually quite simple; cutting, drilling and welding are all required but, as you'll see, the tasks are very straightforward and can be done by a beginner fabricator/hobbyist. These modifications ensure a tailored fit-up...

This time we (by we I mean Judy) clean up the interior of our recently purchased Sidekick. This was no small job as the vehicle had previously been used as a chicken feed storage shed! Toyota Custom Hi-Clearance Rear Bumper - 10 min Walkaround

This time in the workshop, we take a bit of a break from the little Suzukis and other mini rigs that I normally work on, to undertake a swing-out rear bumper build for this super clean, 2nd gen Tacoma. This build requires the removal of a large portion of the truck's box sides so it's not for the feint of heart but it certainly provides a ton of clearance compared to stock and offers a massive ...

It depends very much on your windlass of choice but the metal work alone is usually around $2500-$3500. Other things to consider are a rode with windlass calibrated chain and high quality rope (usually $500 or so) and anchor ($275-$399) and the wiring as well as labour for the windlass install itself (generally around $1000). Contact me at balmerfab.com for more info.

Seems like pretty much garage builds what tools do you use. Grinders, welder, plasma cutter? Torch? I just bought a lc100 for my son we wanna build bumpers and stuff. I am a railroad welder have my own minimal garage weld stuff wondering what all else will need to make a quality build.

I have pretty basic tools. I use a Lincoln 210mp multi process welder for my steel jobs, an old Lincoln 180 for my aluminium spool gun and a longevity 30 Amp freehand plasma. I have a variety of 4.5" and 5" grinders. I've gotten by without a jig table and proper clamps but that would be a huge asset.

Howdy and interesting vid, I know this reply is a bit late but UA-cam's algorithm only let me find you recently. I did my due diligence on a lift kit for my G/V and was blown away by a kit from Radizkone out of Poland, The quality is outstanding! The important bits are engineered and built in house and the shocks are KYB front and rear. The steel is laser cut and jig welded, I don't want to get them dirty.

Great details and Im sure the welds are strong but instead of two vertical gussets (they look cool) I did base plates for my sliders to increase surface area, less concentrated inline load on the frame. But then again Im just a guy with a welder and a hand grinder so Im doing all the extra work to make sure my sliders dont rip off on the trail.
