Rankin/Bass's "The Stingiest Man in Town" was broadcast in both US and Japan in 1978, airing one day apart. An audio recording of the Japanese airing was found on UA-cam, so I decided to try matching it up with the footage. Audio - ua-cam.com/video/BOx7M6zcJQY/v-deo.html

One of the last Terrytoons, it was subcontracted to Fred Calvert in Hollywood.

It's been far too long the last seen this 1
THE BLUE SNAKE
I'm a expert on all things DePatie-Freleng,and I've NEVER seen this one before. Lennie Weinrib did a GREAT job voicing Timer,Dean Elliott was perfect as the music composer, and David & Friz did a good job as producers. TAKE THAT,FILMATION!!!
This was directed by Herb Klynn, you know, the guy that did all the Seven Arts specials after DFE left Warner Bros. in 1967.
Talking Dolphin: (to John Callahan) You got a problem, Callahan!

I'd say Terrytoons came up with the superior version of Looney Tunes' Goofy Gophers. Heckle and Jeckle cartoons are actually funny, for one thing.
Bought a box of animation cels at a local flea market, scanned an image of one of them and it's from this show. I was born in 1966 but never heard of this until now!
That's cool!! Which scene from this special does that cel show?
6:40 🤨
In my opinion, I think this SALLY SARGENT cartoon series should be made, perfect for a Boomerang original series. I say let's make a petition to have WB Animation/Hanna-Barbera to make it happen right now for sure! Let it run for 4 seasons if necessary, that would be totally groovy! 👧😎🗽

Well, I just came here from the infamous shorts where Tom constantly gets abused. But anyways, this Clint Clobber is much better than the one abusing Tom the entire time.
“Uh oh, he’s heading for the dynamite box! He wouldn’t dare! It’s possible, it’s possible!” 3:30
“That’s the last straw animules, I’m hoppin’ mad now!!” 3:23
TNT is an acronym for Tri Nitro Toluene, (the active ingredient in dynamite) which has three nitro/NO2 groups attached to the toluene molecule that makes it really explosive. 3:41 🧨 Science is so much fun and more interesting!
Thank you so much for posting! I love this movie.
I want a potato
Could someone provide more details about this film, please? I couldn't find it on websites like Anilist or MyAnimeList. And also, could anybody please help with the translation of the titles?

Why wasn't this picked up for a series? Hmmm... The Scooby Doo pilot "Who's Scared" was also made in 1968. I wonder if Scooby Doo was picked over Sally Sargent?
Wow, a Ryuichi Yokoyama short!
Cool!
Wow.
Wow.
Ahhh! A cool short.
I'm making a new fan film based on this special in honor of its 50th anniversary coming in May, bringing back its characters Little Red, Larry and Carol for a new adventure they begin.

nickcheezy do you like dame oyaji?
Has it been 50 years already? It's awesome to see this once again.
And I'm already making a 50th anniversary fan film based on this special, bringing its characters Little Red, Larry and Carol into a whole new adventure... 👍
I can see why this show did not get picked up
It seems visually similar to the Disney’s jungle book movie which came out in 1967.

Clint Clobber And Mother Mom

No Dog Allowed
It’s funny how Clint clobber clobbers a gray cat to live up to his last name, but here, he does not commit abuse that could kill any animal.
We watched this in my animation aesthetics class at film school -- loved it!
Why didnt we get this Clint instead of that crazy one?
That other Clint was unhinged and I'm sure his wife left him and took kids lol
Maybe they’re twins
@@christopherlee9290makes sense as Clint clobber kept abusing his wife whenever she got angry at him, and same with his children if they disobeyed him.
Virtually unrecognizable as a Paramount Cartoon Studios production. Feels more like one of Ralph Bakshi's Terrytoons or when he later had his own studio (it's even akin to something out of "Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures" at times). Still a groovy 60s classic, even if Bakshi doesn't think so!
Ralph only did 4 shorts with Paramount (the last 4) Gulf & Western who recently bought Paramount at this point wanted to get out of the animation business. So my theory is that Ralph decided to make these 4 shorts different than what Paramount was doing to see how far at the time he could push animation. Not quite adult (like Fritz) but not quite kid friendly either but in-between.
