Any reason why you couldn't strap a vibrating thing to the screed bar? Seems the back form edge gives you little space to shift back and forth. Also could you apply vibration against the bottom of the cement board to level?

For something weighing 800 lbs and only 2 inches thick, it's hard to wrap my head around how adding bendable wires will make potentially crumbly, or buckling cement more ridged. Can you explain?

Oh WOW.....How beautiful, then ruined with the stain...OUCH! Wonderful work!!! Can you do mine? Let me know the cost per sqft. I have about 25"x350" of counter to do. I want it as thin as possible, and as little of a lip as possible. Contact info would be great :-)

Is it possible to do a pour in place with a sink? I want to do this for my island, but it's going to be 55"x99", so I would never be able to move it or fit it through my doors if I don't do a pour in place.

I've got a whole bunch of extra welded wire fencing, the stuff that is pvc coated (like this: www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-4-ft-x-50-ft-Black-PVC-Coated-Welded-Wire-Fence-308382EB/205960866). Do you think I could use that for reinforcement? Any issues with the coating?

Hold one here, so what you're saying is you don't just wave the screed over the form and voila perfectly finished and beautiful finish? This looks like real work.

What would you advise doing countertop-wise for a three-sided cinder block bbq grill with a 4ft opening in the front? I want to pour in place. Do you advise a lintel or would reinforcing the countertop be enough? I'm guessing the countertop will be supporting roughly 250 lbs.

Hello I am working on a cast in place bar countertop of 2” of thickness. Because it is poured in place I have to anchor the reinforcement to an existing wall. I have the concern of anchoring a wire mesh, If it would be enough to resist the weight of the counter, since your recommendation was not using rebar on a 2 inch or less thickness. Do you think is enough or maybe I can use a combination of reinforcement? Thanks for your help! Saludos desde Panama 🇵🇦

Thank you for the video and description of the different options. I am building an outdoor kitchen/bbq station. The kitchen will be "L" shape and have a straight run of 3' x 10' concrete counter that includes a 1' overhang along the 10' section. I would like your recommendation of what the best reinforcing would be for the concrete counter. Especially the overhang area. Thank you in advance!

I just poured my 4x8 island top, but I didn’t pour in place. Was to worried I couldn’t finish the top smooth enough so I poured it in a form using melamine. I only made it 1 1/2 thick with alot of rebar. Little worried about the transferring to place it. It might crack due to the stress of lifting it.

  • @Itdontmatter69

I’m about to pour a 4x8 slab for my island top. 1 1/2 thick only. Won’t be poured in place, plan on lifting it out of form, flipped over then set on top. I’m extremely scared of it breaking or cracking while I’m flipping it and lifting it into place. Thoughts ?

I am pouring concrete countertops and am planning to use Alkali Fiberglass Mesh that will be about a half inch from the top of a 1&5/8” countertop. I also bought some Hog wire mesh which is 6 gauge zinc plated. My question is ... is this too much reinforcement, if I were to put the hog wire about a half inch from bottom?

I am a completely new DIYer and I’m taking on an outdoor kitchen this Spring/Summer. I want to do my own concrete countertops. The kitchen will be under an overhang. Your videos are giving me hope I can give it a good shot. My question is I’d like to put some metal overlays on the countertop. I’d like them to set in the concrete and then maybe use an epoxy to make sure it all levels out. Thoughts? Can it be done? Thanks for your advice.

Thank you again!
