AI vs Human Recruitment

They highlighted the importance of a two-way interview process and the risk of hiring unsuitable candid...
I like your honesty and openness about the topic and when Sylvia says she never brought her whole self to work. Hiding behind the ''work face'', I did the exact same and I'll never go back to a ''job'' but I wonder if I'd do the same....
OMG too funny....research if the research is any good.....where does it stop? Great question
Interesting topic Peter. It can certainly create anxiety, I have no doubt and the big question is: is it something parents or teachers should deal with....debatable, for sure.
I know this game so well.I can do it in my sleep
I like what you said ''when you're invonvenienced somehow, that's when frustration hits. Very true! well said!
Mattering is a word I've never heard about before, but now I understand it's about how we matter, how people matter. Super interesting topic once again!
I think sometimes we look to mattering when we take on a lot of 'helping others' with things. I remember I did a lot of that when I was connected to a church. I picked up members who did not have a car and took them back home. Brought people to events ect I was a 'driver' in a way and I think it made me feel 'I matter' - now I matter to myself (my family and people around me, but it's not that I feel I have 'do' something to matter)
Really? Gosh Peter Abrahamsen you keep finding topics that I had no idea even excisted 😂 Listening to you both, I get it now...the fear is real! It's a real current issue for those people, slightly younger than us. It's a mentality or belief that I wonder if it will change...
I think it might need to be very individual - for the workplace it's about making sure the work gets done. For example, when I had my retail shops, to offer a 4-day work week I'd have to create rosters and extra staff but each person would be earning less - is that what the staff member wants?
It's helpful to ask a survivor of (legit) narcissistic abuse what a narcissist is really like before calling just anyone a narcissist. You know, the contempt, passive aggressiveness, loss of power/control, involvement of other people, complete change of behavior around others and abuse with you, public humiliation/smears, gaslighting, trauma bonding, internalized doubt and cognitive dissonance, loss of self, breakdown of boundaries, projective identification/being made into the aggressor, use of vulnerability as a weapon, intermittent reinforcement/love bombing, idealization/devaluation, and doubt if what you're experiencing is really happening because no one believes you.
Nice to see your video
So, there is a lot of chatter in women only groups around the issues men have, the husbands and partners of the women in the groups - my big question is WHY are they so focusing on what the other one is like, does or does not do - instead of looking at their own behaviour??? So, not so much about dating apps but the issue, that there are issues!
Personal help like you guys is indeed very valuable compared to ''a program''
I think 2 important points were made here. One, our own fears holding us back from speaking up, but secondly, finding the RIGHT person to speak up too? How will you know it's someone willing to understand and open to support?
AI in recruitment, I didn't even know this was happening. Especially in HMRC. To me it makes no sense at all to hire without human interaction. What you're discussing about being a team player makes sense, it's not just ticking a box....we need that human connection (imo)
I think it's that we carry past experiences along into the future and so measure what we do on past experience - children don't because they have those experiences and they just 'jump in' - we certainly need to figure out how to NOT fear 'failure' - maybe NOT call it failure? Call it a new experience?
Wow! Time recording like that - extraordinary! I had no idea! I would like it to be a personalized, customized experience for the client and not a money raking factory with time stamp clocks! How important are the actual outcomes for the client in this? It sounds like it's about the law firm and not the clients? - I think acknowledging that outside help is the principle from way back mentioned in the Bible, you are nothing in your own land/town but valued where they don't know you so don't 'judge' you -
Chronic stress can impact overall health in a big way. Listening to Dr Bruce Lipton he described it in a way it really hit home for me around a number of issues that followed me throughout life until I realized. And I absolutely agree that stress can be motivating! Great session, thanks!
Have a diagnosed PTSD from domestic violence and abuse. After 8 years of treatment and therapy I was pretty much fully recovered, until I began being berated by one of my subordinates at work. He has 2 criminal charges of DV and the organization still hired him. Over time he became so abusive towards me and upper management wasn’t helping me with his disciplinary action. His behavior became so bad my Medical Professional decided to put me on a STD for triggering my PTSD which protected my safety and job. This also reminded the organization to take these concerns very seriously.
Years ago I did a LOT within a church I was part of, driving elderly around, preparing events etc etc and YES my compassion ran thin -specially that after a while it was kind of 'expected! Today I know all about setting and keekping my boundaries - back then I didn't
Well, in a global market, why not work at a time that suits you best as long as the work gets done the way it needs to be?
My daughter has suffered from bullying in the workplace. Has not worked for 3yrs. Lost a workers compensation claim because her coworkers and managers lied. No one understands what constitutes bullying. The effect has led to PTSD..
We don't want to push them to burn-out, that was a great comment with a lot of meaning to it.
Peter and Sylvia, I am obsessively passionate!!😂😂😂😂
I wonder from time to time if we put too much of an emphasis on the words that are used and less on what they were designed to mean. Work life balance is a perfectly fine term to use when you take it in the spirit that it was created to reflect. Getting caught up in the exact meaning of a word or term is something I imagine matters in contracts and legal matters, but when it comes to switching off, let's just accept the term and strive to improve our overall situation regarding how important our private life and our business life matters to us and the related stress that brings. Overthinking things is an attractive way to kill time. What I liked about this chat was when Peter referred to Mike's break and decision to reschedule. That's what hit home.

Peter, I know you were exaggerating to make a point. But have you had bad reactions in the past when you've shared your opinion that men and woment communicate differently? I'm sorry you experienced that.
Hello Sylvia and Peter, in my experience listening is the most important quality in any kind of relationship. As a man 🙂, I always thought that if I solved the problem, it would be good.... now I have learned that the relationship is much more important and very often gives the necessary security and strength, so that in the end the problem becomes more manageable and is often solved. Thank you very much for your very important contribution and many kind regards Ralf
I'm a solicitor in the UK - in my view, the UK legal profession is massively oversubscribed, with a glut of highly intelligent people competing for not enough work. I would strongly dissuade anyone from entering the law if they think it's a safe way to earn a lot of money. Only consider it if you have a real passion for the subject - if there's nothing else you could see yourself doing.
What a great topic and frightning for students in law atm!
It's my opinion that people often exaggerate for effect. For example if I'm a little careful with keeping my hands clean, feel a bit self concious about it, then I explain it away by saying I'm not OCD. What about PTSD? If I'm jumpy around cars zipping by, is that because I have PTSD after nearly getting knocked down? NO. This is pervasive in language everywhere. 'He's ALWAYS belittling her!' -- "That F**ing B*st**d! He's a pervert!" What if he simply brushed too closely to someone?
Peter, I understand that I'm introducing a new concept when I talk about mental fitness. Mental health can be compared to physical health... we all have physical health and mental health issues to deal with as we go through life. Mental fitness is like physical fitness, you need to practice it daily to stay well and healthy. If we have had a mental health issue, we realize how important mental fitness is. We care and we want to make sure we don't go back there, or that our loved ones or colleagues don't ever have to deal with it.
Knowing what you DONT want is so often easier to know and also very helpful to know what we DO want.
I love my work and I find I do it at random times during the day. Maybe workism refers to people who can't shut off because the consequences would be negative if they do.... They sacrafice things they love because they have this identity they must maintain. Maybe?
Good to think about both views the employer and the employee.... good discussion
Great talk! Yeah, funny how in 2020 you made it to working from home once a week and that was an exception and now it's normal ;)
The pandemic opened up so many opportunities and it's important to focus on the benefits, get curious about how to make them even better and have calm discernment on the possible issues so everyone can feel acknowledged.
it's so true, we spend sooooo much time at work so it IS important to have a listening ear available.
The future focus on remote work may begin to lose some of its steam. Employees may start to remember and miss the freedom they have become accustomed to as opposed to spending time nonstop around the house.
Thanks for a great discussion on the impact of wellness and the "Great Attraction."
Great talk! I love the ''great attraction'' insight!
Interesting discussion!
Sylvia, you are very insightful about people who are just fine but get caught in the comparison trap and start to worry about that. Peter, your response about comparing how you have come along in the past year is also so important.
Retraining from within makes sense.
You DO kindness but you are nice! So interesting!
It's pretty sad to even think that Bullying or harassment is happening....more than we even know. Not being invited to meetings or saying it too late....great examples! It's so good to discuss this so people KNOW when it happens!
It's a great topic because I don't think they are speaking the same language. It's easy to understand, you and I have been in corporate, we have LIVED that life, we experienced it. So yeah, those coming to you are in the right place because you know exactly what it feels like and how it is. AND the bonus is you know what to do about it!!!
Thank you Rachel. You and I have indeed been on the inside of organisations and know what it can be like. You need that kind of experience to meaningfully help not only the individuals, but the organisation as a whole
I love the thinking between looking after those employees that just want a job and those who want to climb the corporate ladder 👍🏻
Quiet quitting!!! That's the video I made on my UA-cam last week! i think it's in any profession. As long as you're doing a job that is not fulfilling, it can be in any profession.
I love how you said how we all need and use our brains, whether we do physicial work or other, we all use our brain!!!
