- Sylvia and Peter discussed the use of AI in recruitment, particularly at HMRC in the UK, where junior staff are hired without any human interaction until their first day of work. They expressed concern about the impersonal nature of the process and its potential impact on employee well-being. They highlighted the importance of a two-way interview process and the risk of hiring unsuitable candidates through automated methods. They also emphasized the human aspect of recruitment and the potential negative consequences of using technology to recruit people
AI in recruitment, I didn't even know this was happening. Especially in HMRC. To me it makes no sense at all to hire without human interaction. What you're discussing about being a team player makes sense, it's not just ticking a box....we need that human connection (imo)
technology has been used for decades in recruitment with some success, but it has also screened out talent that would have had a chance early in the process if a knowledgeable human had been involved in the process. What I also find troubling is that pure AI recruitment seems to be inflicted on the humans in junior positions. Just shows how little focus there is on the human side of things in many businesses
