This lovely old motor is in her working cloths from when she was used daily on livestock work. Own by the Edward’s family. She cracks on and I loved attempting to drive her.

A short video is me driving the old Australian Atkinson across from Yorkshire to Cheshire. Going over the Woodhead pass and then across to Manchester then onto Kelsall. Running at about 18 tons, just enough to make the Cummins sing

These Lorry drivers these days wouldn't have a clue how to drive them
The "N" in the prefix doesn't mean 35X engine. It's the code for Perkins 3 cylinder, so both 35 and 35X has the "N" as long as they are 3 cylinder. The most accurate way to see if it's a 35X is to look at the serial number. All tractors with serial number from no. 302413 and higher is 35X. And You're right about the diff.lock. Tractors with diff.lock has the letter "Y" behind the clutch code, and the Multi Power has the letter "W" on the plate
Sounds the dog's danglers Bob
The noise from that Gardner 👌🏾
👌👌👌🙏
I want one😢
Here in central Scotland we had a local haulage firm Russell of Bathgate who had a whole fleet of these beautiful trucks and it was amazing to see them all on the road. Sadly and slowly but surely over the years they were replaced by Scania and Volvo trucks in the fleet, but will always remember these trucks with a special fondness. Used to love the figure head of the knight on the grill.
Hi Richard my name is Nave Bie , just watching your video of the Atkinson . I had her when she was brand new whilst driving for British Steel Shotton , she was transferred up from South Wales.I drove her for 2yrs , happy days.looked for her for many years.
@@navenbie8063 Hello. How interesting. Do you no if it did much work? It was in very good condition considering when I first got her.
She used to work day and night pulling 32tons gross , they used to change them on a regular basis, she was a beautiful lady and pulled like a steam train, leaving the Guy’s for dead, what I found was if you floored the throttle she didn’t pull as well, but lifted it off a tiny bit she was off
Where did you find her? I was tolled she was under a sheet behind a garage in Whitchurch, but when i went to look she had gone 😢
@@navenbie8063 it went to Roberts fuels. I have a photo with a skelly on. Then she was going to be used as a recker. My friend from Lancashire ended up having her then. Your more thank welcome to come and have a go.
Brilliant video I love the way you push the Atkinson on keep up with your videos and appreciation of the working man’s environment when British industry was great 👍😊
Love that truck
You got the last two words on the video spot on "proper wagon"
good
I thought that you were going to drive the Leyland Super Comet tanker. That would have been nostalgia for me as I had a LSC artic in 1968.
@@malcolmfisher2672 that was the plan. But things changed. It’s a lovely old girl. I will have to sort out a video.
Lovely sound track!
Sure miss Kris! This truck and Kris RIP are both icons
Brilliant, that GUY takes me back 50 years as a kid of 6 years old driving to Scotland with my dad thank you amazing 👍👍👍
What a pig of a position the gear lever on the Seddon, not dissimilar to the LAD Dodge. Good video!
Wow I had one of them when you got up to 60 mph the engine cowling lifted up coz the clips were broken 😂
British Trucks, in cab views on a run with fantastic sound, what could be better. Very nice and great work. Thank you for a great video. Now all we need is for one of the Workshop creators on European Truck Simulator 2 to see this and finally start creating some great British Trucks for the Sim community.
Lovely truck's there 👍
My dad worked out of congresbury in the 1970s with one of these..I used to go with him on school holidays to the quarries in somerset taking loads to the split level m5 near Clevedon ..Pull out from the quarries judder up the hill and come to a stop then rev knackers off it to get it going again..My ears were ringing after a day sat in it.
Great driving and video - well done 👍
Hi Richard. What exactly did you do to "break" the bead? Looked to me like you drove your Landrover onto a plank on the sidewall of the Tractor tyre which was on the floor.
@@trevorsidley7697 that’s exactly what I did. 👌
I drove seddons late 70s to mid 80s the same as that when I see the gear change I was almost back there our fleet was the same shade of green to great video lovely old sound
I love the old school style of driving.
Love watching your videos, you’re always so smiley and happy, it’s lovely to see. I love vintage stuff, old is gold 😊😊
A nicely editied and very enjoyable video Richard and you captured my trucks well, also a nice tracking shot of my Shell Bp Trunker Artic 😍 My Aec MKV tanker takes no prisoners if you don't give it your fullest attention 😆
The in cab audio is very poor.
Brilliant video Lorrie’s you drive in your working boots Keep them lite ⭐️👍
What fantastic old waggons. When you look at them now to what they used to be like hardy old drivers in the old days. My old dad drove waggons and had a bit of board cut to size to lay across front seats for his bed.
Owww! Great watching that Richard. Very nostalgic. Loved the sound from both the Big J and the AEC 8 wheeler tanker. No wonder most old school drivers suffer from tinnitus. 😌
I think you need to take that scammel out next time and have a go with the gate change gearbox. Apparently it was responsible for the invention of lot's of new swear words.
@@peterwalker6020 never had a go in a gate change. Although I think the scammel has a AEC box so I am not sure it’s a gate type.
@@Mr_b_yorkshire_farmer I seem to remember that the AEC box was a David brown. Very simple box to work on. But someone might correct me on that.
Its a later Scammell with the AEC box that Trunker of mine.
@octopus680 Brilliant, they were a good looking motor, ours was earlier with the gate change, I remember the rattle's on tick over from the cab and the door gaps opened and shut in rhythm with the engine. I hope she keeps giving you years of pleasure.
@@peterwalker6020 He he yes Peter the cab is very noisy and it finds every bump in the road but the Roar of the 680 makes up for it.
Behind every old lorry theres a man with a story.. Great video 📹. More like this. Raw diesel engine sounds running along the road with a story to be told from an old timer. ❤
Hi, did you drive threw Horbury on Sunday? I was looking round a 2nd hand/ house clearance shop thing. Looked out window to see classic trucks passing in the sun!! Brilliant made my day😁😁😁😁!! Did you end up at a meeting or a show? 😊
@@grantbassett2048 yes. I personally did not go that way in the end but we were in and around the area.
Proper Exhaust 💨
Great sound from these old trucks and hard work driving them great vid Mr. B
@@brianogrady7900 yes. You definitely have to concentrate when you’re not in them every day.
Love this! Keep the videos coming!. That old AEC tanker is proper nice.
Another cracking Video Richard, good to see your Dad in the hot seat of the Seddon & perfect gear changes too, love the AEC Mammoth Major tanker one of my favourite's, the Big J of Bob's is a proper working motor & sounds awesome .
@@andrewturner8755 cheers. your wagon must be next Andrew. We will sling my trailer on it.
Definitely Richard .
Great video, you guys have an enviable collection of old trucks, I once operated a small Coles crane with a 6 354,the Perkins always pulled above it's weight.
Fantastic video Harking back to the days when the left leg and arm was stronger than the sunburnt right lol Brilliant upload Thanks Mr B Geoff
Brilliant was out yesterday but on a down hill bit pity. Keep lit 👍
That is an amazing sound. Do you think we could please see of a really, really long ASMR video of you driving this thing and with really really high RPM upshifting and include engine start up because that’s a heckuva sound
@@codykennedy19 I have a sort video of it. But perhaps m next year yes.
