This channel has been a mix of my many hobbies and interests over the years, starting with firewood and sawmilling related videos, onto high quality Great Lakes shipwreck exploration with all the fun and expensive toys!
In my free time, I explore the Great Lakes to search for and document the incredibly well preserved shipwrecks that exist here, and to capture them in high quality photos and videos for public education and entertainment. MANY of the ships are still undiscovered and waiting for their story to be told!
I aim to tell the stories of our amazing maritime history, our people and places that you may not have known about.
Be sure to check me out on Facebook and Instagram @ Blueyes Below for LOTS more content that is updated continuously as I adventure :)
Something about me?! I had the AWESOME opportunity to film with Gordon Ramsey for his TV show "Uncharted" where I took him scuba diving and spearfishing for a Michigan episode!
Thanks for being here! - Dusty

Pere Marquette 18 ROV Exploration
Discovered nearly 500 feet deep in Lake Michigan, the Pere Marquette 18 sits at about a 30 degree angle, speared into the lake bed from sinking quickly. Join me as I show the process to document this historic shipwreck.

Today we pull out the @RuggedMade splitter and head to the back wood lot to split some fresh cut rounds of maple and oak! I’ve been back to logging lately, and really getting a really nice stack piled up. Enjoy the sweet shots of the four and six way wedges in action and see how I do things as a one-man show with the IBC totes. Want a sweet Ruggedmade Splitter of your own? Check them out at the...
Augustus P. Handy shipwreck exploration! 360 video Lake Huron
Переглядів 344Рік тому
This video edit is from the initial first dives on the Augustus P. Handy that my friends Mark Gammage and Joe Van Wagnen located after doing some extensive research and on the water searching with sonar. We tried out Mark's 360 camera and the results are pretty awesome! As the photographer and videographer, I'm never usually in the frame, so this is a pretty cool view to be able to see myself f...

I recently picked up a new tent for canoe trips and have been hanging out in it and cooking over the past three days and nights. I was so impressed that I had to do a video on it. Great for 1 to 2 people with a mini wood stove and a bit of gear!
How to use an emergency FLARE - 3 TYPES
Переглядів 8 тис.Рік тому
Today we do a little demonstration on how to use an emergency flare in the event you have an issue out on the water. I first use a handheld day/night combo flare, show a newer style electronic night time flare that never expires, with a daytime visual distress flag and end the video using a flare gun. Stay safe, consider liking and subscribing, and thanks for watching!
The perfect winter for splitting! Ruggedmade 737-24

Today I get the equipment out to process a load of fresh Oak I cut at my parents property. It’s the perfect kind of winter afternoon to be out splitting with my @RuggedMade 737-24! Every time I use this machine, I say “this is one of the best things I’ve ever purchased”. Truly an amazing piece of equipment. Check them out at their link here! bit.ly/3AHSxho I’m splitting into the IBC tote cages ...

Ironsides shipwreck exploration and equipment mishap !
Переглядів 434Рік тому
Mark, Ray and I decided to head out to a local shipwreck on 10-27-22 to do some late season diving on a local to me shipwreck. Mark's dive partner and dive mentor actually found this shipwreck many years ago, so it was awesome to have him out there with us! Cletus Eugene Turner, better known as "Gene Turner" is a legendary shipwreck hunter and found the wreck of the Ironsides in 120' of water, ...
Orcatorch D511 Dive Light unboxing review!
Переглядів 2082 роки тому
Today we check out a dive light from my friends over at Orcatorch. They sent me this light in exchange for my honest and unbiased video review, but I have owned several lights from them and enjoy every single one. Top-notch quality and extremely bright! Buy it from OrcaTorch dealer's website - bit.ly/3BRZZqz
#14 - IBC firewood tote delivery day! Need some in Michigan?!
Переглядів 3022 роки тому
Today we get the rest of one log pile cut into rounds and then unexpectedly get 10 more tote bins locally after I spot and ad on Facebook marketplace. My total man Howie also brings me a delivery of eight bins with 12 more coming next week when he gets them. Call Howie if you are looking for IBC bins, he gave his number in the video and delivers! The evening was spent cutting most of the tote...

#12 - 4 or 6 way wedge?! What gives better wood?
Переглядів 1,4 тис.2 роки тому
Today I thought I would try out a little experiment to see which gave better results in similar sized wood. Starting with oak and then doing some hickory on the 4 and 6 way wedges. This is on my @RuggedMade 737-24! Check out the ruggedmade lineup here: bit.ly/3AHSxho
#11 - Ruggedmade 6 way wedge action! 737-24
Переглядів 6552 роки тому
Today I split various sizes of oak, and then some VERY dry ash with my new @RuggedMade 737-24 splitter with the 6 way wedge! I demonstrate that the 6 way can still be used with smaller pieces that just need split in half without removing the wedge. While definitely better for larger pieces, it makes quick work of just about anything! Check out what they have to offer at their website below, and...

What would the gilcher lifeboat look like?
Cool look
I like your efforts but yeah I think I'll buy a regular gas-powered or electric wood splitter. Lol.
Ha! Agreed! Love my Ruggedmade 37 ton with a hydraulic lift and 4/6 way wedges
U just sold me on the xl kindling kracker.
It’s a neat tool and does work
And that’s how the forest fire started 😮
Except it didn’t
Man, that slide splitter is loud AF. Definitely not taking that camping 🤨
Great video
Never thought of using the kindling cracker for rounds that would fit but use it the make kindling from split stuff that just fits in it. Also I like the Fiskar splitting axe. Probably use that 50% of the time. But 20” rounds need the maul.
Where did you purchase the 4 way wedge? Thanks!
What was the white thing 2:08?
Thanks for the nice video. I would also like to buy a tent like this, but is this tent waterproof? Thanks from Switzerland
Beautiful footage ❤
1200$ ??? lol no
What wood u splitting looks fairly soft ??
How long does it take onna normal day for pants and shirts
The kracker is way safer to split wood for kindle. I bought one and i love it.
Il y a la version Forteress qui existe et qui est plus grande...... Merci pour la vidéo......
Super cool! I've always wanted to learn how to dive, with the dream of exporong wrecks!
I jumped so hard at 7:06
It is a bit surprising, like shooting a small handgun 😊
Definitely!
For over a thousand dollars it seems they would have something besides wooden legs.
I think it has more to do with the vintage look and feel of it
it's been about 40 years since I helped move the crucifix from it's original position to where it is now. In it's original position nearer the breakwater, it was in about 90 feet of water and the sand coming in around the breakwater was covering up His feet, and had already covered all the memorials placed there. It was finally raised and brought to the boat ramp, so we could clean Him up and try to fix His broken hand. Then the next day we placed it in shallow water on rocks so it wouldn't get covered with sand again. I remember floating on the surface at the buoy and looking up to the "outlook" straight inland on a high elevation, where the road was. After 40 years, went back to see if He was still there. My how things had changed! the "outlook" is now named Sunset Park and the boat ramp has a bunch of new buildings around it. To me, appears they lengthened the breakwater, as all I remember was it was made of just rocks, but now appears the end section is made of metal. Instead of His hand missing, His whole arm is gone and the other arm is broken off but lashed to the cross. I'm 70 now and stopped diving a long time ago. COPD has a way of decreasing your "bottom-time". Rest easy, Jesus. I'll be meeting the real You, one of these days.
Thank you for the nice comment and for helping get it in position for everyone to enjoy. You must be friends with Ron Scott!? he’s a friend of mine and also said he was part of this 😊
Sono super appasionato di lavatrici ma questa non l'avevo ancora vista! BELLISSIMA 👍
Its beautiful❤
If you have time look up Dasher Washers. It's almost this exact setup and can be built at home.
Awesome video. Those are some serious depths, how long was the total dive time?
Thank you, I believe it was 70 minutes or so? Nothing too crazy.
Me and a couple friends are going camping in 1 month and want to know if there's a good shipwreck we can snorkel/freedive, maybe something like the Anna C Minch? Would love any recommendations!
Sir. I want this washing machine. Available on which site. And its price plz. Thanks.
hell yeah
At 5:32 the water becomes suddenly clear because the lake is being fed from an underground water source/spring. This is very common in Northern Michigan, seeps and springs coming out of the ground from the large underground aquafier, some 500 ft in depth that covers much of the state.
Take a shit in the water
Canadian here who helps teach the firearms safety courses: From the RCMP website: "Flare guns and other devices designed exclusively for signaling or notifying of distress, and intended to be used only for that purpose by the person in possession of it, are not classified as firearms for purposes of the Firearms Act. A license is not required to possess one, and it does not have to be registered. These devices are classified as firearms for purposes of the Criminal Code if they are used to commit a crime. Note A few flare guns have been designed using the frame or receiver of a real handgun, and may require registration as such. Contact the CFP (Canadian Firearms Program) for more information. Flare guns with chamber adaptors which permit the discharge of conventional ammunition may be considered firearms." So flare guns are easy to come by and legal but may need to be registered and treated as restricted firearms in certain circumstances (may also require a license as a result). Orion flare guns however are perfectly fine without a license. Similar in the UK but they are more strict where if they are part of the ships equipment, they do not need a license. Otherwise, a license is needed.
Why do you have to have the HOMO music really ruins the video
We used one of these washers back in the 1970's when we first built our off grid log cabin. Loads of CLOTH diapers were washed in it over the years and we had strong arms to show for all of our effort.
Not cool. Another expert without PPE and the macho drop start. C'mon. If you're showing the world a how to, get what real chainsaw pros use and do. Rubber boots also ! Give us a break.
😂👌🏼 ok.
What hind of tree was it
I live in Petoskey and I love the bay
Thank you for sharing! Love seeing the wrecks. Please do more!
1:36 I live in the area, and my well water comes out 44 too...101 feet deep and clean as you could want!
Does the stove come with the tent or do you have to order it seperately?
That is a separate order, but it fits any of the small stove pipes through the stove jack
Fantastic! I purchased plans for the K-350 from George Kittredge when he was running ads in Trade-A-Plane about 30 years ago. I was determined to build it but, well… It’s great to see one finished and operating! Thanks!
I'm considering purchasing one. Are you still using it and have you had any serious issues with it? I'm doing light washes now by hand in a bucket. At 66 I'm going for the minimalist lifestyle as possible, I think our planet is worth it for one. Great demonstration and I was thinking "man this is the guy I want as my camping or off grid buddy." I subscribed in the within the first minute of watching. Have a nice day!
Perfecto !!!!
Very cool, thx guys!
I was hiking the high country pathway and en route to this lake I found myself stuck in a sinkhole after a river crossing lol. Gotta be careful in that area of Michigan!
Elevated setup
Lots of stocked brookies in those lakes. Some dandies too
A proper drain would be an improvement instead of paddling around in water.
If only they made it the size of the firehiking 4-8 person tent.
