    Good morning Dusty! Watching this video of you splitting logs reminds me of the "Lumberjack Song" from Monty Python! Did enjoy the comparisons of the equipment you tried!

      I’ve come to realize that I just enjoy filming, and it doesn’t matter what it’s about. I can talk about anything! 🤣

    Never thought of using the kindling cracker for rounds that would fit but use it the make kindling from split stuff that just fits in it. Also I like the Fiskar splitting axe. Probably use that 50% of the time. But 20” rounds need the maul.

    Been cutting and splitting wood for decades, for sale and home use. No gimmick exists can substitute time spent with a good maul, pickaroon and safe chainsaw skills.

      Very well said. It takes hard work and hard work is the only way that’s going to get it… unless you have a processor! 😆

      Thank you. Better for what most would call professional firewood processors to show us how many of these seen on TV or amazon gadgets are Not a great substitute for the Right tool, and hard work. Rather than someone believing it is, believing the commercials and then staking their, or their families survival on it. Thinking it will be Easy, and require less hard work. Hard to beat a good Axe, and a file for rough winters.

    How do you recommend sharpening the blade? Mine is 3 years old and getting dull. Thanjs

      A flat file should do the trick, or a grinder !

    Kia Ora from New Zealand @ time stamp 9:33 you appear to be using some sort of rolling marker? if so what is it called and where did you source it from... Thankyou.

      The green rolling paint marker is called the Mingo firewood marker

    How big was the space you were trying to heat in the barn with the diesel heater? Was it a diesel parking heater? or a torpedo style heater. Thanks!

    • @cobre7717
      @cobre7717 2 роки тому

      I got one but its been too warm to see how it works

    • @BlueyesBelow
      @BlueyesBelow  2 роки тому

      My barn is a 30 x 40, and I had a 215,000 btu diesel heater that just screams and stinks…. However the barn was uninsulated except for three-quarter inch rough cut pine on the walls and ceiling. That would keep it warm easily, but expensive loud and stinky.
      I did add ceiling insulation now for this season.
      I actually just got another small diesel parking heater a few days ago, the one in the plastic pelican type case. I’ve been running that in the barn and it ran for six or eight hours yesterday, it started at 41° and ended at 48° when I shut it off.

      @@BlueyesBelow yeah I got a parking heater. The exhaust vent seems to puts out more heat than the heater output. Im gonna make somekind of heat exchanger when it gets colder out.

      @@cobre7717 That’s strange, both of mine get so hot that you can’t hold your hand in front of the air outlet. Might be sooted up inside?

    At the end it sure seems like you are trying to split full wood logs with a flat piece of steel. The kracker is definitely waaay better designed!
    Seems drastic when you say its going to the scrap pile. Both of these tools are designed to be used inside your house to split a normal size piece of firewood into many pieces of kindling to help start a fire.

      I pretty much push every piece of equipment to the max and beyond of what it was meant to do just to see what it can do. I definitely do know that these are not meant to do this but I was curious and wanted to try. At the end of the day I don’t have time to work with subpar equipment, so while it may seem dramatic to toss the cheap one in the scrap bin, it is just not a quality tool and I’ll use the kindling Kracker which is much better made.

    It's a kindling cracker, not a log splitter

    • @BlueyesBelow
      @BlueyesBelow  11 місяців тому +1

      Very true, but I tend to try pushing everything to the limit and see what it can do. I was curious if it could, as are others apparently.
      I didn’t want to buy another wood splitter after selling mine, so I tried this, but I ended up buying one.

    Not cool. Another expert without PPE and the macho drop start. C'mon. If you're showing the world a how to, get what real chainsaw pros use and do. Rubber boots also ! Give us a break.
