@@flightsimguides well some people are saying that nvida cards run better for xplane 12 and that you should stay away from amd cards. And on the other hand people are saying it’s fine to get amd cards for xplane 12. Im just wondering becuase amd cards are in my budget.

@@flightsimguides Well, just because I can doesn't mean I should. I perfectly see your point and realism is the appeal after all. Also, friend of mine is thinking of a glider license and I don't wanna be a bad example ( : Anyway, next step is measuring an ASK21 cockpit and getting a 3D-printer, starting the realism from there.

@@chrisgard4076 I love X-Plane. The 12.0.9 is fantastic. I use it. I just find the strategy behind naming a Release Candidate a final release, a bit off. This is not typical from what I have seen.

My 12.1 RC2 actually works better hen previous versions specially in frame rate stability... lucky me i guess

For sure on the landing, if you create bad habits in the sim, they'll follow you right on over to the real aircraft. All good though, i made some solo landings before that if a CFI were there, I'm sure they would have reached for the controls. As long as you learn from it and correct irl AND in the sim. More content to come on the RV channel, i just threw a couple time lapses up there to have something last night.

Starting with a Desktop Sim as a new student pilot, the learner should always have at least a few hours in the sim with a CFI sitting beside you. Then transition smoothly to the real aircraft. Can save significant hours to PPL. This has been proven. For example, check out the training program at Cypress College in California. Also....See the exchange just below.

The founder of FlightSimCoach was my first remote CFI during Covid lockdown. Later my local CFI gave me remote training via Skype screenshare. My first VOR navigation lesson was so immersive that I broke out in a sweat and held my breath. Needed a ten minute break to do the same short round trip again. Great learning experience. Many students can find a CFI willing to give time for remote training or will come to your home and sit with you. Today's hardware is finally both realistic and affordable. New hardware in 2024, so you can even get FFB devices for a reasonable price. Desktop Simulators can easily match BATD rated stationary units and if you have the budget can provide 3DOF motion.

Yea, definitely a good suggestion, flying with a CFI. Best to get the good habits up front so you don't nurture your own bad habits in the sim. Is remote instruction a thing now? Wouldn't be surprised, that's awesome.

@@flightsimguides Remote Instruction is definitely a growing trend. Pilot Edge and Sporty's both offer this service. Also an outfit called Flight Sim Coach has a team of 13 Remote Instructors. The founder of FSC was my first remote instructor during Covid lockdown time. I also used a local CFI who continued my training from his home in those days. I learned a lot including my first VOR round trip navigation experience. Was so immersive on my 60" LED TV with my Yoko Yoke / MFG Rudder Pedals / TrackIR 5 etc. that I barely took a breath the whole time. Any CFI that is sim friendly can provide remote instruction. I use Skype screenshare.

@@louradman7166 not sure about zibo but the betas are betas, if you want a well oiled sim, I’d go back to 11 - if I’m looking for a serious flight I go xp11. 12 will get there but they still working through some stuff.

@@gaigesmith9674 seems to be the case. If you want it on your 3d panel, you need to do some work in-sim to make that happen, but if you have a physical panel (like RSG), it should work with any aircraft model you fire up so long as it’s connected to the sims avionics. Which any decent model should be. Haven’t tried on a lot of models myself, but that seems to be how it works (and is advertised to work).

@@pentachronic sounds like a good build. I’m running the whole setup off a single pc. As far as radios, I’d say to find something that’s compatible and is accurate to what you are flying irl, or just choose your dream radios and avionics setup. At the end of the day, it’s your sim, build and have fun with it!

12's graphics and weather are def a step up. I think they used the same base graphics as XP11, but built upon that, so if you are out in the middle of nowhere, you'll see a lot of basic texture models that are the same as xp11. I believe they put a lot of time into building custom scenery for more airports, so if you do see better graphics, it's because they put the time into designing better models for some of the bigger airports. Then updated the engine for shadows and water, reflections. Basic things that even the next gen consoles have already done for most of their games. I still think XP 11 has better flight characteristics, but XP12 is getting some needed updates to their avionics, which will eventually put XP11 way behind. For me, the flight characteristics absolutely kill me on XP12. 11 is just so much more stable and functional, I'd rather fire up XP11 if I'm going out on a serious flight (pilotedge, etc). But to each their own, just have to figure out whats best for you and just roll with it. good luck!

@flightsimguides I have 3080 Ti, so not much better. I skipped 4000 series, as I don't trust that new 12v power connector. It's a fire risk IMHO. Hope it's gone back to old connector in the 5000 series.

You won't need the best GPU on the market because Microsoft has already said they will be doing a lot of the heavy lifting on their servers and dumping some of the demand on your CPU's multi-threading capabilities.

Oh yea this is just a video game…. Cool idea but we’ll see where it goes. Neat concept and it’ll prob do well for the gamers out there but I doubt it’ll last. Actual pilots who want to train will use xplane. Imo.

@@marian8757 Requiring online connection basically makes this game usless to people that need to game offline. Also means you can only use it for as long as they maintain those servers. You no longer own games that you buy. Can lose access at any time.

Also, it would be great if rural highways and interstates weren't stringed with street lights. It's not realistic, for one. The less instances of procedural objects in unnecessary locations, the better for the GPU processing. There are definitely some tweaks they could do that could greatly help with FPS.

Yea for sure, honestly I still don't think the graphic updates are anything more than what XP11 with a custom scenery package would be. I installed Sim Heaven and didn't see a difference -- the footage from this video was in the Boise area and I didn't find it to be anything over impressive.

@@flightsimguides The biggest difference I've noticed in side by side comparisons is the terrain visibility distance is higher in 12. Most apparent in mountainous areas. I also think the clouds are better, the most recent updates look ever better with the clouds, to me anyways.

I still like XP11 the best -- def my goto if I want a serious flight on the books. Doesn't MSFS add and remove data as you fly? As long as you have an internet connection, which isn't a huge issue for me.
