The Bob pants and M7969 have been very popular at the Minerva fabrics website. In fact, they were giving a free pdf version of the McCalls pattern away for awhile. Being a curvy senior, barrel legs or puffy sleeves look silly on me. I like a more pared down and simpler style which seems to be your preference as well. The alternatives you gave for these patterns might work for me. Thanks, Rebecca. (I just found your channel and have been watching your past videos.)

Thank you for sharing your experiences! I also live in the US and need some budget yarns. However, if you ever have the opportunity to travel to Norway (or probably the rest of Scandinavia), I highly recommend picking up some Sandnes Garn yarn. My mom lives in Norway and she got me a bunch of Sandnes Garn Sunday for about 4-5 dollars a skein. It's super sturdy and smooth yarn and much cheaper when purchased within the country than trying to get a hold of it here in the US.

Hi Rebecca, in this video you shared the longer tailored skirt that you wanted to make. And I was just watching your video about why you sew. In that you share a skirt, the plaid wrap skirt in a sort of natural linen with black. THAT skirt IS that silhouette you want. You probably know but a wrap skirt is 1 back piece and 2 front pieces sewn together. So if you take one front, and the back pieces and then add that skirt to your more tailored trousers or the straight leg jeans pattern even... you will get that look. And it should not be too hard to "hack". To make it easier, I would use a side zip or back center zip. If it were me, I would copy the waist to widest point of my hip parts from my fave trouser pattern, and then lay the skirt pattern over that and trace it out, lining it up on the outside hip/leg side. Just adjusting at the hips as needed and ignoring the crotch. You will see how to adjust it as you have sewn both patterns. So it should be very easy to do. (Sidenote: if any of the fronts are changed somehow, tapered where it wraps, for example... you can find the midpoint to the each side and cut them down the center, then tape together the sides that are sewn to the back piece... and you should have a whole front then.) Also, if you do not watch her, you might want to... because you are at a point where you could easily begin to make your own patterns for what you want. But check out the Closet Historian. Her style is not yours, and hers is not mine, but I have learned from her how to make block patterns and then how to adjust them for various collars or skirts or looks... and she does sew at least one pair of trousers. But she is pretty amazing, and really sets you free from buying patterns.
