Looking for queen cells in a walk away split bee hive

I split this hive last month and they failed to raise a queen. I gave them a frame of brood and eggs one week ago and now I’m checking to see if they are raising a queen. It has been 7 days so they should have queen cells at this point if they are raising a queen with what I gave them.

    The blocks need air on all sides. The roots will be disturbed when blocked off on just one side and will compete with itself instead of roaming free. It suffocates the plant and breaks its balance creating health issues by stress. Try it without the boxes. 😉

Looking for the queen is good but from the first frame I saw , I know you have a good one considering the amount of brood.

    Hi! I have a little question. When do you add the brood/eggs? At the begining (first week), or at the end? My neighbourg has 2 active beehives in the wall, and the only way to gero them is with a trap out. He wants yo exterminate them, but he gives me a chance to save them this month. In my case, I don't have any other hives with extra brood. (I just instaled my first two beehives this month), so, do you think if I add a new Queen, they will accept her? If so, when do you think is the best time to introduce her? Sorry for my bad english, I'm from Spain.

    • @willmegehee
      @willmegehee 4 роки тому

      Ainhoa Jauregui hi! I added the frame with eggs and brood at the end because I knew I did not have the queen. They raised a new queen from the new frame with eggs and brood. However, if you leave the comb in the structure like your neighbor wants then you will likely see roaches and other bugs later. They will be after the honey and dead brood left behind. When possible it is best to remove the comb but a trapout is better than exterminating the bees any day. If you don’t get the queen with the trapout then you can add a new queen. Leave the new queen in the queen cage for several days and they will usually accept her.
