Yeah this time of year it's tough to have success framing up comb from cutouts, I had to recently on one of mine because we couldn't find the queen and I needed them to draw out a cell or two. I'm waiting on the resultant queen to mate up, but what started out as a 10 frame box has been reduced to a 2 frame mating nuc, with hive beetles destroying 6 other frames in about 2 days. one of the cells didn't make in the other nuc, so no sense in keeping those frames.

It is tough to lose them that way... at least we still have drones around to mate them up :-)
