Looking for queen cells in a walk away split bee hive

    Thanks for your comments. I also have several traps out as well. I placed them early well before getting the nucs. I’ve had lots of bees checking out the traps but none took up residence.
    I’ll be sure to watch for queen cells.and leave the traps out.

      Wait kind of scent lure do you use in your traps? I’ve only used lemongrass oil... a few drops on a q-tip or on a small piece of paper towel in a small ziploc bag barely open placed inside the bait hive... plus a few dabs around the entrance.

    I’m sorry I didn’t notice the first e. I live in Corinth Texas which is next to Denton. I’m an architect and originally from Marietta Oklahoma. Just starting beekeeping having installed two nuc’s a couple of weeks ago.

      Probably similar family history. That’s great about the NUCs. Two is a good number to start with. I started with 2 and didn’t add boxes fast enough but since I had swarm traps out I was able to catch them as they swarmed on me. Beekeeping is a learning experience. UA-cam has endless possibilities for learning because so many out there like to share what they’ve learned along the way.

    Will McGehee. Watched your bee video because we share the same name “William McGehee”. In Texas originally from Oklahoma. where are you?

      South Alabama... originally south Mississippi. Close to same last name but mine has 4 e’s :-)
