You don't put it on the far edge, around 2 or 3 cm from the edge is enough for the light strip to go around the whole thing, however the distance from the edge of the tv and the light strip will vary depending on your size TV

One of my controllers isn't lighting up I've gone to settings like you have to pair up it's not detecting it but I noticed your red controller had green lights on the side mine doesn't its not lighting up at all!

Horrible battery life. This keypads battery lasts only about 3 weeks. And then it takes almost 24hrs to fully recharge the battery. MyQ's solution? Buy a second battery and swap out every two weeks. This is a poorly implemented device without an option to power directly with a 5V adapter. I'm going to try and hack this so that I can power directly with 5VDC.
