We are a farm in Northwest Pennsylvania that grows corn, soybeans, and small grains. We farm with Case, David Brown, and International Harvester tractors that are mostly junk. We enjoy farming aswell as working on older farm equipment.

We run a late 1660 as well, but it's getting tired! Often thought of putting a Deere grain header on it, the harvester one sucks in my hilly ground.

That is not Junk. We use the same machine, just updated to it a couple years ago. That one has the Cummings in it right?
Yes, it has the 5.9 liter 12 valve Cummins.
Faster reel speed would be OK.
He's probably running with auto reel speed so it coincides with his ground speed. So if he pushes hydro handle to travel faster the reel will speed up as well or vice versa when slowing down. Also in beans you only want to run the reel fast enough to keep the combine fed and not shatter the beans

Very interesting video, didn't realise 1290 is 990 underneath, is hydraulic filter still under gearbox.if there anything like 990 they should be very good tractor.
I'm pretty sure the hydraulic filter is still under the transmission.
Like the video,but your really after putting me off buying one of them,I was going to upgrade from 990,now I'm not sure.
This 1290 is very worn out. We have a 990 with a good engine and it starts very good in the cold weather.

Yeah the pto clutch is out of adjustment on that one.
Push rod
I’ve never seen a pull were they pull tandem. Are they supposed to keep it even for distance. Definitely cool and would take some skill.
We didn't have any rules for that. We were testing out the new double hitch and new dead weight sled. Normally you just have to keep both tractors moving forward. Yeah its definitely difficult.
Was the saw mill doing work for you all? Looks like you had the whole family involved! Also, the part of the video with Nate on the David Brown connected to some blue piece of equipment, was that a dyno run? And I'm sure that last clip was a proud dad moment for Richard.
We volunteered to run it. The logs were ours and we were cutting some stuff for us and some to rebuild the mill frame work. Yeah that was the dyno. Yeah he really enjoyed that!

Our 1570 was beast!! Would have liked to of found out actual horsepower!! Don't forget your 4th paint option, the Black Knight!
Those are still a great work horse on the farm. I had one in white, stars and stripes was for an anniversary model of 1570 if I remember correctly. If the ac is extremely cold it may be a bit low on charge. Sight glass liquid line near the radiator somewhere. Bubbles indicate low charge after about 5 minutes of operation on a day about 80 f.

@@farmingwithjunk1848 I believe the stars and stripes was for the Spirit of 76 , those 1570s made in 1976 had that paint scheme. Chevrolet also made a Spirit of 76 Caprice Classic, white outside with red interior and blue pinstripes.

What a brute of a machine. I hope you get a lot of service from it. Should have well over 200 HP. Just don't paint it red and black.

Nope. They didn't have them when new and it wasn't that cold the day we started it.
Do you know if that engine is a 2.7 liter or a 3 liter? My grandpa has a 900 model and i have no idea what engine it has
2.7 liter I think.
If you replace the pitman arm and idle arm with those from a power steering car, they are longer and will give you quicker steering ratio. This is what Carrol Shelby did.
Case engines wear the sides of the bearings if they have been over reved to long and they wear the rod side faster then the cap side if they have been pulled hard
Good work! Shame that DC-3 has a clapped rod bearing. It will be invaluable for parts for your DC-4 though! I just got my 1953 DC-3 Running, can't wait to see more of the DC-4

DB Ford & MF were extremely popular in UK from the 1960 up until DB were taken over by case and New Holland took over ford, Great videos and camera footage absolutely perfect especially to see Americans working on British tractors Marvellous 🇬🇧🇮🇪.
rings , bearings , seat the valves and go pull dip stick when she is runningto see how much blow by comes out .my father put new rings bearings in a masey 1105 25 ears ago he used the old pistons and liners still going
The bottoms of the rods are ground to weight balance them to each other and to the crank

Farming with junk is pretty common anymore, you kinda get stuck in the middle. Can't afford to farm, and can't afford not to. We live till we die so we may as well make the best of what we got. Thumbs up to you. 👍

The engine is probably worth the overhaul but not the rest of the tractor.
