I used to work and run one of the store down here in the south. It has went downhill they wanted to be a department store and not a close out that why the prices was higher, I was so happy after 18 years working there to leave. High management don't care about their workers. We was a family there at my store after 18 years. Wish them luck and people want closeout prices Biglots will never be Walmart lol

Its sad to see that malls are becoming a thing of the past. There is a mall about 40mins away from me that's usually very busy but tur stores ate expensive and then there's another 5 mins away and that one is always dead.

I remember that video and it was empty, it makes me feel bad that malls are dying! We are all guilty for buying too much online!

As a Big Lots reward member, I just got an e-mail that said they will no longer accept Big Lots gift cards after January 16th. Maybe that is the only reason people are buying things at a low discount!

As soon as you guys walk in It smells LMAO!!!!!........Poor mall it's pretty much dead now. I grew up over the hill from that mall used to go too it many times it was always so crowded back then.

I'm an employee over in East Tennessee (not telling specific store because any "bad" publicity my comment could be taken as could knock me out of my severance), and something I want to point out is that they're not "saving" Big Lots by buying 200-400 stores. They're buying the name, the history, and the leases. All employees, if they want to stay, will have to reapply for their jobs. I've heard several dates...my store has been told that Feb 17th will be our last day of operation, but that could change. And most of the stores they're gonna "save" will be in the south. There is no list as of yet, but I imagine it'll depend on how close they are to a Rose's.

Hopefully they at least let the fans have a part of it

Thanks for the update. I wonder when they’ll make the official announcement on which stores will survive. I wouldn’t be surprised if they would need to wait until after all the stores close-so they can continue with their liquidation sales without the public knowing they aren’t actually closing.

RIP big lots. Too little too late. All stores here are already gone. Even if the new ownership takes over the remaining stores, it will never be the same.

With Ollie's and Bargain Hunt being what I consider Big Lots was before they went down hill, I see Roses (or whatever this new Big Lots/Roses will be) going down hill even further. I don't know how they can survive.

I have a Roses near me but haven’t been in it, I’ve heard it’s terrible.

FWIW An employee at my store here in SC told me Sunday that they were getting a truck later this week. He seemed to think they were one of the stores sold and the plan may be to convert them to Roses. Probably makes sense because we have Roses in other towns within an hour of us.

Im a Store Manager at a Big Lots in Indiana and I agree, where were these people before the closing was announced? Buying this stuff up at such a very low discount is bizarre. Our shelves are just like this store...bare.

As an employee of a company that closed stores, a lot of times they won't sell fixtures or even offer them until closer when they are going to close
