Every morning, the sun visibly hesitates before rising over a sea of strip malls and and cheap housing developments, each more depressing than the last. Raleigh is a city that somehow manages to be both pretentious and utterly bland. Population: 483,000 Lobotomized Lemmings who went to Duke but won't shut up about it, and NC State grads who think wearing red makes them interesting. Architecture : Raleigh's buildings are so depressing they make Soviet-era concrete blocks look like Versailles. The downtown skyline is littered with glass boxes and forgettable mid-rise office buildings designed by Kane Realty who clearly hates beauty, joy, and human dignity. Cultural Scene: HAHAHA! This is where culture goes to get euthanized. Our idea of culture is a bluegrass festival that draws mouth-breathing yokels from across the state to gawk at banjo-plucking simpletons. How thrilling. Nightlife: It's a oxymoron. I've seen more life at a morgue. Restaurant Scene: Watch in horror as packs of lobotomized lemmings dressed in LuLu and Patagonia line up like locust for brunch at overpriced and pretentious food halls to take photos of their avocado toast. Fun fact: On New Year's Eve, Raleigh drops an acorn. Yes, you heard that right. The city's grand celebration involves watching a giant nut fall from the sky. Fun Fact 2: Raleigh was voted " Most likely to Induce a Coma" by the World Health Organization, 15 years in a row. In the Bermuda Triangle , creativity isn't just discouraged- it's treated like a communicable disease.

We paid 800k for our house, and our neighbor paid $420k in 2021. Our houses were built around similar time with very similar square footage. Their mortgage rate is 2.2% and ours is 6.4%. 😢😢😢

Agreed on MacGregor! It's been the premier Cary neighborhood for decades and decades IMO. Also IMO, the far west parts of Cary feel more like a suburb of Durham than Raleigh. It's not easy to get to downtown Raleigh from there. Congrats on the baby! 👶

Great video! We had to make a couple of compromises too when we purchased that we were not aware we needed to make before moving to this area. We wanted New construction, over an acre, trees, low cost, No HOA got all those but had to settle with Septic and no garage. Both were okay and thankfully we have Amazing neighbors who maintain their yards and their homes 😂

We have been looking to move from Oklahoma City to Raleigh for a couple of years now and we have seen the area change so much just in two years! Wake Forest is our favorite suburb!

What about the water quality (PFAs or forever chemicals from the Cape Fear River) in Apex and Cary? There's a landfill around Holly Springs too?

Calling Durham a safe place to live seems to go against all of the measurable statistics out there. 300% higher than the national average for violent crime. Pretty bad

Tourist destinations aren't really great to live in. They attract all kinds of people the good and the bad. Where there are tourists.. there are people out to make money off of them and not all tourists places are welcoming. I'd love to live in a place that is beautiful and known but not so popular that the wrong people try coming in and ruining the vibe. For example like big corporations that see a money pit and buy up all this property to rent out at high prices because people need places to live in towns that they find appealing. Things like that are why places like Seattle and Los Angeles and New York have a high homeless population. so boring isn't always a bad thing.
