Company's on rocky ground, the last few titles haven't sold well at all, the golden child that pulled their fat out the fire 10 years ago is now being rejected by players thanks to heavy western influences, and all that is without stepping on the landmine that is their QA team modeled after Sony's MeToo policy stance. Square's in trouble, full stop. Just as it was in 89 when they pulled Final Fantasy out their pocket, slapped duct tape & prayers on it, and shipped it to the public. Let's hope they can duplicate that miracle a third time.

Depend on how much graphic is important for you. I would go for FFIV if it doesn't, a much better choice, but evrything after FFX is a bad choice

Never forget, it's call Final Fantasy because the company was doing so bad, if that game failed, the company would die. It was their last chanve, their Final Fantasy.

One leveling spot I don't hear anybody talking about which was also sadly removed from the Pixel Remaster, was the forced battle tile in the Dark Elf's castle in the Mystic Key room. Of course, this required a white mage and Harm 2 or better to consistently kill the undead that comes out there. The money was really nice and the XP was not too shabby either, and in some ways it was actually faster than the giants' hallway. Basically you'd go there, blow your white mage's spells, one per battle and then go back to town, rest, and come back. That sounds like a lot of work but each fight would reward you handsomely.

I have to agree with the hair color. I love Amano's work but he gives everyone blonde hair. He just thinks it looks more like a fantasy that way. If you associate fantasy with Germanic fantasy, I can see why he would do that. The Sprite work 5 and 6 especially is unmatched however. Green hair Terra and leotard Celes included.

Ff6 pixel remaster is nothing but a miserable pile of glitches and soft locks. During my playthrough I got soft locked getting the cider making me refight the stupid octopus boss again. Then when I got back again went to steal the clothes the game soft locked in battle and guess what. I had to fight the stupid octopus boss for a 3rd time because there is no save point in-between those two parts of the game. Then near the end of the game I was grinding exp and the game crashed 4 different times while grinding I had to start saving after every battle while grinding because of it. All and all the pixel retrashed version of FF6 made me hate the game now to where I don't want to touch ff6 for a long long time. Never in my life have I played ff6 and had that horrible of an experience until the pixel retrashed version of the game. If I ever play ff6 again it will never ever be that version of the game.

I love ff I have 1-7 and rebirth my friend told me about it and I’ve loved it ever since 😊

somewhere I read FF1 took 10 months to be made, so I think it's a really easy calculation basically february 87 - december 87 (?) but if it was completed in fall, maybe it's more likely: late '86 to start of fall '87

i played on pixal remaster but beat ff1 for the first tim,e with Fighter red mage red mage Monk Monk had 2ed slot but had an issue of dieing a lot which was mostly fixed by moving. 6 party wipes, 4 on chaos, 1 tiamat and 1 because forgetting to heal hurts

The peninsula of power is a legend almost as big as the tale told in the game world, but in ours… I’m working my way down to 1 for my first PM run, so it’s theoretical frustration at this point (as I’ve yet to experience the new balancing of this remake yet). Fun channel! I’ve watched these ff videos a couple times now, and will check out more of the channel.

I played on switch and was a little dissipointed the peninsula of power was gone but since the game offers 4x and 8x exp boosts and gill boosts as well it's not much of an issue. Games on the easy side to which helps a lot. I beat the pixel remaster ver with 6 party wipes 4 of which were on the end boss.

FF1 and its development story have always been of my interest, but my major source of info on it was always the japanese Wikipedia article on it translated to english. I was really hoping someone safeguarded Yoshitaka Amano's first sketches for the game, the infamous blocky characters akin to pixel art, before the team told him to illustrate as he usually did. Thank you so so much for this video.

And what’s really impressive about Final Fantasy to me, that makes it stand above something like a Red Dead and such…is that FF has been going for almost 40 years. What’s it been, 37 years? So 37 years and it’s still standing, still going strong. And the original game, in its various iterations, still sells. How many 37 year old games still sell and get played over and over again to this day? Not very many. And Final Fantasy is one of the few titles to carry that honor. I mean it’s just impressive and the game is still unique to this day.

The Ice Cave takes the cake easily. So many kinds of instant death attacks, so many party wipeouts and game resets in my younger years. Only the Castle of Ordeals came close.

I'm about 115 hrs in. Sin is next boss, I have 3 Celestials, I have grinded here and there but not to a crazy extent. I wanna do the side content and stat maxing so I was seriously expecting at least 200 hours total

Your example of Echo Screens is a bit funny, in that (in some versions) speedrunners literally do use that for the unintended effect of manipulating slots. This is interesting, I never really noticed how they sell Ethers in this world. But it is supposed to be a big, fully fleshed out world, encapsulated in a limited number of relevant game elements. You aren't required in-game to buy food for your characters (a la Ultima on NES), therefore not every town depicts a grocer, but obviously that would be a major enterprise in every town, if the game fully depicted every little thing one could spend their money on. The point is, if you need a world-building excuse for the sale of Ether, it does make sense that Ether would just be some household thing which you can acquire, intended in-universe for one function, which incidentally you can use to restore MP.

I've buy it and never had an ounce of regret. You could buy them individually, but I go for the package. Having to replay remake of those 6 is a benediction. For me, it's Final Fantasy at it's peak, especially for FFIV and FFVI. When a kid, the only game I had was an old nes with FF1, so this one has a lot of nostalgy. The 3 other's were great too. I know many didn't like FF2, but I like the story, level up system is broke, I know. Anyway, I would recommend it to anyone that like RPG.

Ff6 WAS admittedly an unfinished game. There was supposed to be more scenarios and more character development with more characters. Gogo and Umaro are two characters with very little development which tells me that they were lowest on the priority list when the game was being finished. Gogo's mystery could have been huge. Literally they could have made their identity something that you CHOOSE based on how you investigate. Maybe they are Bannon, or baram, or the emperor, or realms mother- they could have had a decision tree that would let u choose who u want.

I need those design documents! Were they in the Ultimania book? Which one? I love those cute drawings...

Beats this game for the first time today on pixal remaster, had played it for nes a few times but never went much past getting the boat. Party was in order Fighter 4 deaths Red Mage 1 Death Red Mage 0 Deaths Black Belt 11 deaths 6 party wipes 4 of which were against chaos Did great 90% of the game but struggled on both Tiamat fights and chaos took me 4 tries, in the chaos fight the Red mages became buff/heal mages and all the damage was done by the knight and master, moved the black belt from slot 2 to slot 4 and that helped him survive better. Funny enough my one red mage ended up with over 80 hp and a few int higher then the other but the other had better attack and agility. Well onto ff2 which i have never played but have heard of the odd level system

I have the pixel remaster version on switch, are these reasons why the pixel remaster version(switch) is WAY too easy with the final boss massively buffed. Seriously, I breezed through it pretty easily, but when I got to the final boss, I found him to be massively buffed and used the extra features to level up in front of him, lol. But then I'm just a casual RPG veteran.😁

I got Final Fantasy 1 for my 10th birthday, and I was mesmerized by the mystery of the cover art. It was my first experience with a turn-based strategy game, and I had no idea how to play it. For years, it sat untouched until one day, I finally figured it out. It’s still one of my favorite Final Fantasy games to this day.

I played the OG FF1 so many times over the years ever since I was a kid. My favorite party was always F, F, WM, BM. I know a lot of people over the years have shown me how the black belt was the best, but i usually would beat the game around lvl 32. For him to reach that lvl of damage you gotta max out if im not mistaken
