    Ehm... I don't wanna hurt you but did you think about the relation of FHD to UHD before making that intro? UHD is exactly 4-times the pixels not only 90% more like you showed. It doesn't make sense to make a demonstration chart only for it to be wrong

      @user-tu5yi4pe2z Of course, 4k is much bigger than 1080p. The diagram was only used to emphasize that aspect ratio doesn't not relate to resolution.

    I wanted to leave a comment because I think there is a fundamental misrepresentation of what "AI" is capable of. There is a huge incentive for tech companies to sell their machine learning technologies as something that makes the process of content creation cheaper and more accessible. Right now, we're seeing the effects of an industry that has been seduced by false promises. Will companies continue to aim for the lowest possible costs for everything... sure they will, but in the end it always ends in CRAP. I have plenty of friends in the industry who are constantly having to educate clients on why AI is so problematic for projects that require any form of notes and iterations. You just can't do it, the technology is fundamentally not designed for it. The Sora video that came out had to go through many, many seeds just to reach a good starting place and then required VFX teams to correct and finalize. That's something they don't talk about in public. I understand your concerns, but I don't think that AI will kill filmmaking. Nothing will ever stop you from being able to grab a camera and tell stories. In fact, it's cheaper than ever to go out and make things. Trust your voice, and keep making projects that only you can make. All of that to say that I never want to rotoscope again, AI can have fun with that. I thought this was a great discussion on the topic: ua-cam.com/video/T8ByoAt5gCA/v-deo.html

    AI companies did very unethical thing by training their models on people's data. Photos, youtube videos, music recordings, podcasts, social media posts, written books, news articles - these assets all have authors and these authors didn't consent to participate in creation of systems that can: 1) do potentially dangerous fakery 2) replace real people at some jobs Regulations, bans and fines should have been implemented to prevent all this madness, to make distribution of such models and related services illegal. There's a line between progress and harm and even though that line is quite wide, it was crossed without doubt.

    having come off of a little 2-day shoot using 2C 70s a C300 and 3 Sachlter tripods let me tell you right now a good tripod is a requirement to doing high quality work at speed however a lot of things that people don't actually see in the Tripod is for example if you're going from tripod to shoulder you're going to want to have a shoulder rig that can clip right into the tripod through another plate that sits on top of the tripods bass plate if possible you're also going to want to get a side loading tripod because side loading tripods are much easier especially if you're going from tripod to straight handheld not to mention the more expensive tripods tend to have higher weight allowances which is crucial especially when you're running a quite heavy 15 to 30 lb setup

    So here are your settings on CINE EI or FLEXIBLE ISO, because when I try to change the "exposure" of 2500 cine EI to 1250, I dont notice any difference. I have to film in a nightclub, I have the fx30 but I just cant deal with getting grain on my videos always

    • @Matthew_Chung
      @Matthew_Chung 28 днів тому

      Flexible iso does not allow you to change the EI. EI only applies to Cine EI. Flexible ISO would be better for you if you have to go above 2500. But keep in mind the noise performance. This is where you have to determine if you will bring more lights to maintain base iso OR us noise reduction in post. Cine EI just allows you to change the "exposure" of your viewfinder so that you can bring in the extra stop of light that you would bring down in post.

    • @Matthew_Chung
      @Matthew_Chung Місяць тому

      Yes. Changing EI is like "exposure" for your monitor/viewfinder. Therefore, in post, bring it down. 2 stops will get you that clean look that you are supposed to do for slog3. Over exposing 1.7/2.

     @Matthew_Chung Hey man, what exactly are you changing in terms of lighting since the exposure is "the same"? I don't get how you are still capturing the data at 800 ISO yet the image is cleaner noise-wise when the metering, iris, and light source is the same and at the same level? So, are you displaying your image darker by going down 2 stops [EI 400 from EI 800, for example], and increasing your light source intensity?

    • @Matthew_Chung
      @Matthew_Chung Місяць тому

      Yes! Iso is still at 800 or 2500, depending on which one you use. Cine EI allows you to "change" the exposure of your monitor to trick your camera to see more light. This is done by exposing brighter with your lights or reducing the nd. Then, in post, you bring the exposure down by 2 stops. Like how you would over exposure slog 3 and bring down in post. Hope this clarifies!

    Loved the video and your explanation! I never fully understood the process of (and why you would need to) setting up a book light. Now I do! and I'm definitely going to try this setup in future jobs. I do have a lingering questrion: You mentioned that to get a get more details out of the highlights we would need to use a more powerful light, but I noticed the reflector you used for this example was pretty small, do you think that the amount of light you got from this example would have been greater if you used a bigger reflector paired with the 120D?

    • @Matthew_Chung

    Its because people have learned to rely on gear and image quality to hold an audience attention, rather than story. Things like good AF, good screens, good dynamic range. They feel their skills are not enough so they use the equipment's features to boost what they can produce. Without all the extra features they don't feel as confident to create, in case it turns out "bad" without the assistance features. Which again negatively inpacts their confidence in their skill and they feel they need to rely on gear and so the cycle continues. It is so hard to to break the cycle, or even know you are in the cycle. If you have good core skills, the gear matters far less and you can use the older kit confidently knowing your skills are creating quality which allows more time to focus on getting the story elements better which in turn creates the better end result.

    as somebody who rocks a 10000 camera setup in the Ronin 4D let me tell you new technology does not equate to better video picture always the reason that I rock my camera specifically wasn't because it had some amazing sensor or that it had some ridiculous High frame rate shooting capability the reason that I chose the camera I chose was due to the functionality that it gives that no other camera can give however if I wouldn't have went for the Ronin 4D I would have went for a Sony fs7 Mark 2 even though the camera is very old now it is still one of the best cameras in the world and while the fx6 has a couple of features that would be nice to have and the fact that it's full frame of course but other than that the difference is between the two are truly so minuscule in terms of shooting quality and the ability to rigged the cameras out did I much rather have an fs7 Mark II over a single fx6 or a single fx9 because the difference in price doesn't equate to a difference in usability pretty much what I'm saying is we've come into an era where cameras from 10 years ago are still very good and now with very affordable if you look back let's say 10 years the difference between an fs7 Mark II and some of the very first digital Sony cameras on the market was night and day you couldn't tell me that one was remotely close to the other however nowadays while you will notice a difference in sharpness and you might notice a difference in color accuracy for the most part at a glance you're not going to be able to tell the difference I mean you've watched cartel land everybody has that was fs7 mk 1s and that show holds up to this day however if you were to look at 08 footage of anything you could tell right away that that camera is of a lower quality than anything on the modern Market however that's just not the case with any camera produced 2014 and on if you are purchasing a used cinema camera that was manufactured from 2014 and onwards and it has 4K capability then it's more than likely going to hold up in modern camera manufacturers know this and that's why they spend so much of their budget advertising now in 2014 you didn't see a cinema camera advertisements like this you didn't see UA-cam channels worrying about what Cinema Camera you should buy because back then Not only was it inaccessible to a general audience but even the cameras that were more quote on quote accessible we're already well-known amongst the people who were going to be buying them back then there was so much actual like night and day Innovation happening that the cameras practically sold themselves however now the Innovation from some of these companies like Sony is actually stagnating it's not that they're not innovating but those massive leaps people got used to for the 4 years between 2014 and 2018 just aren't happening as much anymore
