Loading Quilt Backing with SewTites Magnums | The Quilted Poodle
I will show you how to load the SewTite Magnums flat metal guide into the pocket end of your leaders. I stitched to separate each metal guide in 6 inch increments. The metal guides were sewn into the end of the take-up leader and belly-bar leader for the backing material. This was demonstrated as part of the Online Interactive QCT Zoom class in November 2023. I really like the SewTite Magnums. I have since had a chance to try them on many different weights of material including minky. No problems with them holding my backing fabric in place.

The Q'Nique Glide Spoon Foot is AMAZING!| The Quilted Poodle
Переглядів 8342 місяці тому
The Quilted Poodle reviewed the Q'Nique Glide Spoon Foot from QuiltFrog.com. I love the larger footprint of the spoon foot and the larger hole in the center of the foot. The curved foot glides easily over quilt tops with multiple intersecting seams. The curve of the foot prevents the foot from getting caught on the fabric's edge when moving on and off the fabric; even with a loftier batting. Us...

      I'm starting to use more lofty batting and it really makes a difference as the hopping foot moves on and off the edge of the quilt. They ship pretty fast and of course I don't use it for everything, like attaching my binding on the longarm, I like the Square Foot attachment by the Grace Company. . .but everything else; but rulers LOL!

    Hello, thank you for the tutorial, it got me started in Quilt Cad. I am having difficulty making my pattern continuous. I have both sides on the same plain, however, it is not working. Would you have any suggestions? Also, can you please tell me after you save the pattern, is it possible to go back in and edit or change it in any way? Thank you! You are an excellent teacher!!

      With continuous line patterns, the starting point is on the left and the ending point is on the right, usually. If your ending point is on the left, add stitches that trace across your design to the right. (Does that makes sense?) Yes, you can edit your own patterns in Pattern CAD.

      From the choices along the top go to background then go down to grid and click there and that should turn on the grid in pattern cad. If you are in the other part of QCT, In OPTIONS turn on "show grid" under the quilting interface and panto stacker screen which are both down towards the bottom of the preference screen.

    Hello and thank you for the tutorial. It has helped me a great deal. I have spent a lot of time learning how to digitize most of my topstitch designs in the Embrilliance Software Program. (Before getting my longarm I would topstitch in the hoop.) The file extensions are PES, DST, EXP, HUS, JEF, VP3, VIP PCS, SEW, XXX, TAP, CSD, PCM, SHV, DSZ. I would prefer not to have to re-digitize them in QCT CAD. My question... Do any design files with the extensions I've listed work with QCTPro5? Or is there a way to convert a design file with one of those extensions to a file format/extension that works with QCTPro5? Thank you in advance.

    • @TheQuiltedPoodle
      @TheQuiltedPoodle 4 місяці тому

      There are a lot of digitizers from embroidery now doing computerized quilting . . . including myself. QCT isn't the easiest program to digitize in but you can get it done. The answer to your question is yes. It is a bit of a workaround but I have used a combination of Embird (embroidery digitizing) and Inkspace to QCT. I teach a monthly Online Interactive QCT Group Software Class and have taught it twice. The most recent was July 2023. I record the classes and provide a private link on UA-cam to all the paid participants. I think it's a pretty good explanation with demonstrations. It's $15.00 if you would like me to invoice you. Check out my webpage, quiltedpoodle.com if you would like to attend any of the classes. April will probably be a demonstration of making a whole cloth wall hanging with and without QuiltCAD. Email me at info@quiltedpoodle.com if you want the video.

    This a great video, but for a newbie to quilt frames and leaders, I ran into a few roadblocks. I purchased the supplies. My canvas came with the short ends folded over and hemmed. I do not know if I’m suppose to cut it off and serge it or leave it. In the beginning of the video the edges were serge. I serged my raw edge and added the tape. I then noticed that the raw edges that were serge had been turned under before the tape was added. I know that it’s hard to make video that everyone is going to understand and that people who are experts at what they do don’t always think about the tiny things that very beginners focus on. I very much appreciate the video being made and I will figured it out. I am glad I discovered you and your great videos.

    Hello! Is the fabric laying wrong side up, on top of the right side of the zipper? It looked like when you unzipped it later that the zipper pull was from the bottom. Also, where did the little skinny strips come from and what are their measurements ? I’m very new to using a frame. I actually have new leaders, so I guess I did not have to sew the wide strips. I guess? I did it anyway. Now I really need help. 😢

    Great video thanks for taking the time to do this. When I pull on the towa gauge for long length every once in a while, I get the tension jumping up above 200 and then settling right back in. Wondering if that means there’s something with my Bobbin winding. It doesn’t seem to be specific to anyone BobBin.

    • @TheQuiltedPoodle
      @TheQuiltedPoodle 5 місяців тому

      That's a good question. I'm very slow and methodical in the way I pull my thread so I'm trying to get some consistency there. And I notice there isn't so much jumping of the needle . I do like the standalone bobbin winders better than the ones on my Juki or Qnique longarms

      In automation keeping the belts nice and tight really help when you have to repair a pattern it's much easier to get the computer to line back up on your pattern when the belts are tight. Question, I notice when you begin Pattern CAD you click all the icons you need and ever so gently you click the main screen to begin with the first node. I can follow you up to there, and then my mouse doesn't made the beginning node appear on my screen. Where is the secret button hidden on my screen to draw on the screen? It will work about 20 percent of the time. I am using a mouse

    How can I do a left/right click when using a tablet?

    • @TheQuiltedPoodle
      @TheQuiltedPoodle 6 місяців тому

      If you press on a tablet in one spot for a few seconds, it will activate the drop down menu you generally get with a right mouse click
