In 40s ...any chance that there would be a job for me in this field ?
I know plenty of people that started the job in their 40’s. The only downside is that you will start a profession at the bottom and will have to work extra hard for the first few years to show you can handle the hectic nature of the job.
Sir, we need more people like who talks what they know plz come back and continue your teaching.
I am looking into this love the info, also someone please like the video and get it to 667
Respiratory therapy is often underappreciated by nurses and doctors. I believe it should be integrated as a nursing specialty, allowing current Respiratory Therapists (RRTs) to be grandfathered in and become RN/RTs. Nurses could handle routine floor therapy, while those specializing in respiratory care would manage ventilated patients in critical care areas such as the ICU, CVICU, trauma units, and NICU. This could transform respiratory nursing into a six-figure career path.
Hi this is Andrea Marie (Lindo) Palmer. I am a Respiratory Therapist, I am not licensed but have the degree. I having been practicing but I love how you explain about the meds. Thank you it is a refresher & reminder for me😃🤚
Very informative. I applied to my college’s nursing program, and unfortunately even though I took all of my prerequisites, I was not eligible to take the TEAS even though I was studying and preparing. I didn’t meet the cut score of 80 percent so I don’t qualify to take the TEAS exam with the college and therefore I wouldn’t be accepted. Something in myself tells me to not do nursing for good reasons. I would not be able to handle the stress.
I'm going to have my test for the first time 8 months ago I had a lower lobectomy 25percent of my left lung was removed it is helping me t watch this video so I know what to expect thank you
I should’ve taken your advice 3 years ago 😂
I am 16 and in High School and I’ve thought about going to College to become an RT. My Grandfather was an RT for years before he dealt nerve damage to his hand and wrist and was forced to retire early. I don’t know much about the profession (equipment wise and specific aspects of the job) but I want to follow in his footsteps. I’ve never asked him about it but I would like to learn more about the profession before I jump into it, any tips or explanations?
Emergency departments too
I used to go there alot at night and drink with friends next to the tree with the root hanging out
They made me exhale longer than I second.it felt like 5 second's for 15 times and said I was 10%
That’s poverty wages
I was a respiratory therapist for four years and I enjoyed the first couple years but then it just got kind of boring and repetitive so I went to medical school and now I’m a hospitalist. Best decision ever.
Could an RT conceivably teach as a side gig?
Excellent video. Thank you for this. 🙏🏾 @59:15 I love how positive and realistic the respiratory director was. I love to talk to people, be helpful, I also have an outgoing personality, I love to walk around, learn new things, and challenge myself. So far this is the right career path for me and it's what I currently have my eyes set on. 🙏🏾 Praying for anyone who's interested in this path that they succeed and you make it. God can make the impossible possible.
Interesting stuff. Different perspective hearing it directed towards people training for this field. Thanks.
I'm going through a battle with a right paralyzed hemidiaphragm and a PFT is on order again . Have you ever come across cases like mine?
I’m starting my first clinical rotation next Friday. I’m getting nervous. I’m really grateful for your video! Thank you so much!
Very nicely put
Advice came in clutch. Thanks man👏🏽
How are you still liking it? Thinking of starting school in the fall!
I don't see in most of the videos about this topic when the technician use the machine to blow air pressure into your lungs at high intensity...!. Can you explain if this is part of the procedure and why...?. Thank You
Refuah shlema. I hope you are feeling better.
Excellent video! Really nice perspective. Are you done making videos?
Thank you! No, I’m not done. I’m just trying to make videos that can be viewed by my people
Thank you!
Got my PFT Friday. Thank you for helping me prepare my mind. Surely the VA doesnt care to help me understand.
Our local VA walked my husband completely through his PFT before doing the test.
This video is so cool. Your knowledge is awesome. I see why RRT is such a rewarding career. Thanks much.
how much air do you need to take in first before blowing it all out really quickly? how do you know when your lungs are full / amount of air needed in first
Do rt have scope in uk
What are the work schedules like? Do they do 12 or 8?
Thank you so much for this! Im on summer break for three months until my third semester and I want to stay sharp in the meantime, this was very helpful
Thankyou so much for explaining this I'm just diagnosed with COPD which is going to be confirmed with a Pulminary function test, and I didn't know what to expect. This whole thing is making me so uneasy 🙏
I have to work full time as well. How did you manage? Did you work full time during clinical too? Thanks! 😊
Thank you
😂 I started RT at $13/hr
😂 basically if you’re petty and need external validation, this job ain’t for you. 😉
Are you familiar with Birt Hogg Dube syndrome?
I see a lot of hate for RTs please go heal and GOD forbid you don’t ever need one.
Thx
Really helpful
Thx 🙏
Hi i know i am asking you late but can i become a RT then complete my bachelor then by chance apply to medical school i want to gain clinical experience by being a RT then be a doctor...
Do you have to have the covid vaacine to become a respiratory therapist?
Not anymore. It also depends on the state you are in. Some schools might still require it but i think that’s slowly changing.
Lol thats true. My name is RT about 75 % of the time
Respectfully, you do realize the topics of bases, acids, acidity, metabolism, sodium bicarbonate, pH, mechanism of action for certain medications, ( like how medications breakdown certain bonds like disulfide bonds) etc are all covered in Chemistry
Thank you for this content! Have a interview tomorrow as a new grad RT for a big hospital!
Did you get the job?
Do You need a lot of mathematics skills?
I have been thinking go in to the program but I feel a little nervous
Thank you so much for this interview. You asked excellent, thoughtful questions & he gave good, thorough explanations.
