I was a Respiratory Therapist for 16 years. Just became an RN. Why did I even do this! I’m going back to Respiratory and advocate for the field. I think lack of respect drove me to frustration. I absolutely love being an RRT. We have so much knowledge that people don’t appreciate! We are in demand and the money for me is more than being a nurse.
Oh my goodness!! Your comment resonated w me. I've worked as an RT for 13 years and decided to get my RN. However, I'm tired. I have an interview tomorrow for an RT position. Kinda of nervous because I haven't practiced in years.
I’m in school for Respiratory Therapy right now and I have hiring agencies come to my school begging the graduating students to come sign up for them because they’re hiring RRTs like crazy right now because we’re needed more than ever now. This is a really interesting video. I would see a lot of discouraging comments from RRTs saying the field is oversaturated with the new grads in this generation but I don’t see how?? We are needed for every single code. Airway needs to be protected all the time.
I think there are certain regions that are over saturated. But overall it’s a highly in demand profession that keeps getting more and more in demand. I have a video on how much RT’s get paid and I use data to show that the profession is expected to grow.
I am currently in the RT program at Borough of Manhattan community college , second semester currently on chapter 3,4 on the Egans text book. Exams are getting difficult 😢😢
