Thank you! I think the most difficult class I had was the neonate/pediatric class. It wasn’t that it was difficult but it was just learning adults for a whole year and then bam, every lab value is now different. It took some time to adjust to that. Are you about to be in a program soon?
Oh nice! How was your first quarter? You are gonna love being an RT! Especially around the middle when you really start feeling like an RT. The first few terms, you don’t feel like one and then one day you are like, “oh i know all this” lol
I worked hospital security for a while in the emergency room. I'll tell you, he's 100% right on talking too personal. Nurses LOVE DRAMA, and people in general love gossip. Don't think you're wining friends and an easy job placement, what you're doing is picking a side, and there is ALWAYS a side when you get a bunch of women working together. Am I sounding sexist, not trying to, just telling you what ive enchanted being a fly on the wall sitting in an ER when it's dead at night. Be professional, don't exceeded small talk.
Not me going into my last semester and still struggling with ABG sticks, but I am still encouraged and wanting to learn, just geeting more scared I won't get it down
He said “if you make a life threatening mistake that’s fine because your rt is there with you watching you”…… they leave me alone the whole damn shift and check on me only a few times and there was a patient that I couldn’t tell was anything wrong with him. I HONESTLY thought he was okay. He was not alarming, I heard breath sounds. But I was yelled at because he stopped breathing and I was supposed to call someone. Why would I call someone if I didn’t see anything wrong with the patient? Maybe these dumb preceptors shouldn’t just leave me alone all the time to literally sit on their phones for most of their shift and have me do everything for 20+ patients.
I start clinicals next week and I’m so nervous but excited to be hands on , thank you for the advice
