Having drugs in your setting means that 1. People in your setting have money and spending freedom that the criminals can take advantage of, therefore they're not serfs and 2. Criminals have land for agriculture, and therefor serfdom is also not a thing. This suggests a setting with a much more modern level of culture and technology. It just isnt a visble pursuit for criminality before apothecaries became a thing. Drugs would be very, very rare in my setting, and are only sold by charlatans, not syndicates.

When I'm stick in a writing situation, brainstorming to generate ideas doesn't work. I need to analyze my characters, their goals, their motives, their means and resources, their methods, etc. Then I'm able to progress.

TTRPG combat sucks. Here's why. The fluidness or fluidity of a roleplay scene is lost. Imagine watching a movie, but when we get to an action scene, the director and actor(s) pause the movie to have a conversation about every action. This is the problem. Switch to simultaneous combat.

Gary Gygax wrote an adventure module called Dungeon Land. The players fall down the rabbit hole and go through a D&D version of Wonderland ala Alica in Wonderland. Check it out. I think it was one of the old school tournament modules that was intended to be a meatgrinder, so everything is really badass. For example, the caterpillar was a behir and the mad hatter was a 20th level monk.

I'm thinking of making my party into a cult but without them realizing, we found the first mini-boss a centipede (custom boss) but with one nat 20 I managed to cast animal friendship on it and I asked to tame it DM said go for it rolled another nat 20 and party went wild and we used him as a train, we explored 30% of the first floor of the dungeon (very efficient for us) with our now pet called Gay Gary because the only think the DM had to show him was a snail and we all thought of Gary and convinced ourselves he's gay.

Thank you so much for this. I am about to run the "Shadow" Carnival and one of my player sis DMing the Wild Beyond the Witchlight. I don't think that I will use the carnival as a portal between planes however there will be a full-length mirror covered with a cloth that allows Isolde or whoever is her wagon to spy on the goings on of the Witchlight Carnival

so, my group figured out our 5e combat was boring because everyone had too many buttons to press. the game gives players too much to do, and those superheroic rules bog the game down. This wont work for everyone, but our solution was to simply switch to older editions like 2e. Worked like a charm

I'm currently creating a drugs syndicate based around a drug that's a side product of the city state's major industry - and the problem is that disposal of this side product in any way creates an environmental problem, in a way the drug solution is the best...except other countries are now leaning heavily on this city state to crack down on it. Now a second, more violent, syndicate is on the rise threatening to destabilise the situation just when the country is under threat. Warqu is a hallucinagen, but rarely addictive, it's green (it comes from sea algae, after processing for a special dye called Judd) and is taken orally, usually as a thick drink, mixed with honey and floral waters.

I found this video as "just something to listen to" while working on my own cult driven campaign. Your delivery at the beginning was so cute that I wasn't expecting the great information in the middle. Excellent video with great information.

Just don't *actually* tell people you're glad they're coming out of their shell. People in shells tend to find that annoying. Just praise the thing they did, without drawing attention to a "shell". Help them to focus on the good behavior, not to be self-conscious.

If you want some good stock footage of what a place looks like after war, search for "world war 2 craters in farmland" and such like that. When you get to the pictures of tiny house next to giant field-sized craters, you'll know you're on the right track.

my story has a cult around "the revolution" the cult has liches as its leadership that can dematerialize if their regime collapses. They run a totalitarian regime. They recruit gangsters, criminals, revolutionaries and murderers to be their enforcers in order to create more liches. They are a one party state that controls swaths of the galaxy. There Ieader is caIIed "the eternaI chairman"

Imaging being a Lich and the mount of souls you gotta feed the phylactery increases every time. That would be punishing.

Look I know it's hard to find player but we don't need to make a cul . . . well maybe we can sacrifice the players who can only make half the sessions.
