The potted plant, blinked into existence is thinking, "Oh dear. Not this again." Meanwhile the whale is all, "What is that thing hurling at me at an alarming rate?"

She's back! I love the just relatable "I am so done" energy in this one :) (although you probably were really stressed out!) Hope things are on the upswing!

Bahahaha I literally shrieked myself at the end of your plant song 🤣 Great advice, I never not to do with this spell!

Good to see you again! Love this take on a spell. Can't say I've had to deal with it, but it went through my mind; This is how a sentient forest or glade can happen. While the spell is only temporary, perhaps there's a chance that the one time sentience, spurs an evolution event for those plants eventually becoming sentient or producing more sentient plants in future generations. Players could be responsible for a whole new sentient species sprouting to cover the land.
Great to see you and Pip will be Pip, you'll love her no less.

The thing with this spell from the communication point of view, and it is the same with spells that allow the caster to speak with animals, etc., the DM has to consider what the plat is aware of.
As in plants do not normally have eyes or ears, so asking them about a blue cloaked wizard that passed through the area will mean nothing to a plant, they will only be aware of some one who has brushed against them, trod on them, eaten from them, taken fruit from them or possibly blocked the sun light.
There are also some questions that the DM needs to answer in regard to this spells when it is cast. Is it one sentience for the whole area, a separate one for each individual plant (so you are going to have each individual blade of grass with its own sentience!!!) or one for each type of plant. This could all come down to how much fun the DM wants to have.

Into: here's a new campaign villain: the Cat! It will knock of beverages, demand food while her bowl is still half full, and walk over your records deleting your writing! It's a vile monster indeed.

Lol... this spell is the first time a deer's bite attack has made sense to me. Poor, newly aware plants! What about the ones you're standing on??? The song is epic and on point! Love this video!

As a traditional witchcraft practicioner, I always understood this spell as I understand plants already: they already have a spirit or a soul, they just became chatty and conscious with us :p

I love how well thought out this is. You aren't just seeing what a spell does but asking very important questions. More DM's need to think like this. Well done. I am putting a series together for new players right now but when I start my series for new DM's let me know if you would want to do a collaboration.

@@HalflingHobbies will do. Even if it’s just some questions answered for the sake of perspective I would appreciate it. This is a future project tough. Keep on keepin on.

So, the grass, weeds, and flowers in a 30' circle suddenly break out in a screaming match that everyone is stealing their nutrients and sunlight.

Very thought provoking. I think a spirit for the entire 30ft area is what I'm going to go for in the future. Thanks

Some plants in the real world have ways to simple things to one another by releasing chemicals into the air or soil so I would argue that they have limited consciousness already. To me the limited sentience is more of a boost to what is there so I don't think it would be that much of a shock to the plant. I think of it more like someone coming out of sedation, they are not fully awake but they do have some of their faculties.
I really like your idea of different personalities for different plant types, I'm going to have to use that.
