I bought my radio after watching this entire series of videos. Great price on the radio! It took me a while to get around to installing the radio, which I did today. The clicking is barely noticeable when driving around town.

Hi FM, saw you listed on the 2462 Allstar node in Seattle area. I also use DVS Mobile. Have you ever looked into how to add more macros above the built in one with DVS-M? Apparently there is a method according to the author describing how to do this. I know very little about Linux and am lost in trying to understand. Kindly let me know if you have had any success. Having more macro slots would make it easier than trying to remember a bunch of node numbers. I recall spending a night in Henryetta a decade ago while driving from VA to NM. Have a blessed week. I tried following your instructions and I was able to install Debian 12 and ASL3 on a physical laptop in my home. I can connect the Debian 12 ASL3 hub to the 55553 Parrot and see the activity when I also connect to the 55553 Parrot with my Yaesu FT5D with my Shari PiHat4-U. However, when I try to connect the Yaesu FT5D with my Shari PiHat4U to the Debian 12 ASL3 hub, both on the same local area network, I get a failed to connect message on my FT5D using the Shari PiHat4-U. I set the Debian 12 ASL3 to a different port number on my router than the port that the Shari PiHat4-U uses. I suspect the problem is you cannot connect both devices on the same local area network. I think that I could connect to the Debian 12 ASL3 hub with my Yaesu FT5D if I put the Debian 12 ASL hub on Linode Cloud computer, which is not on my home local area network. I ran into the same type of issues when setting up my XLX841 DMR and YSF reflector, which I ended up putting on Linode Debian Cloud computer. I'm wondering if the ASL3 software could be installed on the same Linode Debian computer which is running the XLX multimode reflector software. Or, if that would require separate Linode Debian computers. If I setup a Linode Debian 12 ASL3 hub on a second Linode Cloud computer, then I'm not sure how to permanently link the Debian 12 ASL hub to the XLX941 DMR and YSF Reflector, both running as Linode Debian Cloud computers.

EL AWL BE MR DUCKS - Well this finally works. With Linux it seems it's always a permissions issue. For me SkyDescribe is working using DTMF from the HT keypad. Keep up the good work Freddie. I got back into AllStar with your videos.

Thank you for the great tutorial. I think I must be missing something simple, though. When I execute an Allmon command to connect to a node#, it tells me Command Successful and under that "Unknown node number 599782" (my node). Allstar does show my node as registered, and I have tripled-checked that I am using the correct password. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hey Freddy, I just got a new TD H3 that chirp would not let me use the saved file from my older one because of a version error, so I took a quick look on the Tube of You to find a video on cloning one to the other. My old eyes have a problem with reading, so I looked to you for guidance, man it was better than sliced🍞 I will be sure to mention your videos and recommend the radio at our next club meeting 73's🎙KD9OAM🎧

I'm so glad to see someone finally using the Tidradio CPS because no one seems to know about the PTT-ID that only works through the factory CPS. I added an ID to the "PTT ID Starting" and "Ending" in the CPS and it does work, but there is a 2 second delay before sending which also mutes the mic in the process. I can't find a way to adjust the delay. I removed the Self ID but that didn't fix it either. I'm using firmware version 240416. Do you know how to fix the delay issue? Also, I saw that you added numbers to the "Call Code" section. What exactly does that do?

My local club is adding several more repeaters from a club that we merged with. Eventually all of the repeaters will be linked using ASL 3. All of the repeater trustees said that will be watching your channel for insights and tricks. Thanks for all you do. 73, KF0NNQ.

I follow all your videos which are very informative.. I installed ASL3 which works very well, but I try to connect another node permanently to my ASL3 and it disconnects itself after a certain time. I put a macro at startup which works well but it also disconnects. I don't experience this problem with hamvoip. Maybe an idea !

If I want to disable echolink on all star do i just go back to echolink.conf file and remove .conf and put .xxx back in there?

I have a question: I am trying to hook up a second node. I am going to use it in my car with WiFi. I set the second node up on the same network as my first. But the second node will not transmit, but it identifies. I see that you changed your bind port. Where did you get that other port. I am wondering if that is my problem.

By any chance have you got the Remote Node app to work with ASL3 yet?

I have a question? about gmrs live? Want I want to know is can I use a Pi star for GMRS live? i'm using it as a Hotspot for DMR if I wanted to use it for GMRS I would just reformat it is that correct?

I have a XLX941 DMR & YSF Reflector setup on a Linode Cloud Debian computer. Your setup instructions for the AllStarLink hub on a Linode Debian Cloud computer are much easier than the XLX941 DMR & YSF Reflector that I setup on the Linode Debian Cloud computer. Is there a way to permanently link a Linode Debian XLX DMR & YSF Reflector to Linode Debian AllStarLink hub? Initially, when attempting to setup my Debian XLX941 DMR & YSF Reflector, I tried to install it on a physical computer at my home location. I ran into two problems. My public IP address is dynamic and periodically changes. That causes problems with the public IP address that's registered to the reflector network. I also had problem accessing the XLX941 DMR & YSF Reflector on my local area network. If I wanted to have a static public IP address at my home location, I would have to switch to a more expensive business Internet account, which I didn't want to do. So, three questions remain. Can you run an AllStarLink hub with a dynamic DHCP public IP address, or does it require a static public IP address? Can you permanently link a XLX DMR & YSF Reflector to an AllStarLink hub? Can you run the XLX DMR & YSF Reflector and the AllStarLink hub on the same Linode Debian cloud computer? Dave KY0L

is there any way to change the call sign announcement from voice to cw? I picked voice in the initial setup but I want to change it to CW. can I do that without having to do a fresh install?

I'm brand new to ASL3. Last time I did this everything had to be manually built/compiled. Certainly a far easier install. I feel you may have skipped some important items here and I am still trying to figure it out myself. The install directions specifically instruct to "install a webserver" when installing Debian-12. Which I of course did. And I of course have the default webserver (test page) at my IP address from this. There is no ALLMON3 webpage after installing it allmon3 You pretty much skate over this without any clear information to this regard. I am left hanging without a working allmon3 web interface. And no idea if an alternate or different web server is supposed to be in place within allmon3 itself or is it supposed to be using the "web server" that was installed when Debian-12 was installed. Would be very helpful if you can clear this up a bit and I feel might have been missed in the video. You do indeed hint at this but it is not clear. And of course I installed Debian-12 per the instructions before this video just came out! So I am now stuck with trying to figure out if the built in webserver needs to be completely removed (and how exactly to do that). So allmon3 can do its thing on port 80. I was also very much wondering why I didn't have an ASL3 landing page/dashboard! And you did an excellent job of clearing this up in this video. -Steve N8LBV

I have a cloud hub on VULTR that uses ASL on Debian10. I had to install apache web server then Supermon to get everything running. I will try the new ASL3 and see how it works. Tnx Dave - K8GB
