Couple of questions. Do you have a parachute recovery system on that rig? If not, do you think it would be a good idea to wear one yourself? Is your rig made of titanium or just aviation grade aluminum? I'm old and my days of taking big risks are over, but as an aviator with close to 25,000 hours of flying time, I applaud your ability to get that thing up to 10,000 feet and fly around without a radio or a parachute.

Couple of things…1. No idea those ultralight aircraft flew at such a high altitude. I would have guessed 1K ft. 2. Why don’t they wear parachutes? May be a silly question, but hey…I think it’s a good idea….Theres a plane that has a parachute (Cirrus I believe). Maybe they’d get tangled in fuselage?? Just curious..Lastly, this seems to me to be as close to being a bird as you can get…except for hang gliding. Very cool video 😎

How at risk is his prop from a random bird strike? It would seem as if even one stray bird could take it out. Anyone else heard of that or know the risk level? Also, for all the parachute folks, I guess he's thinking weight, and that he just wouldn't have the time or ability to put it on? Unless you assume he wears it the whole time? Which would be uncomfortable.. he'd also want to recline the seat some to compensate. But Idk, some chute packs are thin and could easily be deployed at 10, 5, and even 2k feet I would think, while adding inconsequential weight? You're up, smart dudes..

I flew in a 2 seater over a dry lake bed in Nevada where Ultralight sales people were providing demonstration pilot accompanied flights. Once in the air your allowed to take the tandem controls flying the Ultralight for a while. I found it to be an enthralling and fascinating experience . Quite honestly flying low over the flat Nevada desert was the most enjoyable where scenery and movement of the craft were most vivid. All crafts were equipped with balistic discharge parachutes.
