Finishing An Embroidery Hoop // Easy Felt Backing Technique
Переглядів 5673 місяці тому
There are several ways to finish an embroidery hoop, but closing the back with felt can give your work a more refined look, while also providing a nice layer of protection. I've also included a trick/hack to getting the thread of your running stitch to stay tied tight when initially closing the back of your work. Basic stitches tutorial (running stitch included): ua-cam.com/video/JgKuQZPUxsI/v-...

Inquiring minds want to know what type of hoop stand that is 😊
@@lizziehoward943 Hi! It’s such a good one! Here’s a link to a list of my embroidery essentials (the exact hoop stand I use is on it!): www.shopltk.com/explore/Cassiemdias/productsets/11eec2ff5596b721968b0242ac110003
Great. 😃🤌🏻✨️

@@cassiemdias ✨️🌸✨️💖✨️🌸✨️
Beautiful work! Could you tell us the name of the desk/lap frame? It looks sturdy. Being the owner of a variety of hoop/stands from table to floor I'm always in the market for the "perfect" final purchase of a new one!
@@MissBizyBea Of course! It’s definitely a good one. ☺️ Here’s a link to a list of all the items I use, and the hoop stand is on it! www.shopltk.com/explore/Cassiemdias/productsets/11eec2ff5596b721968b0242ac110003
You make the most beautiful pieces I've ever seen! I just started embroidering and your artistry is so inspiring ❤
@@hoon75 What an amazing compliment! Thanks so much! 🥰
What a beautiful scene of the countryside. 💜
@@javaturtlegirl Thanks Aunt Lynne!
That is so amazing! So beautiful! My brain can't even begin to comprehend how much work and effort when into that.
Thanks so much for your kind words! 🥰
Beautifull
Thank you!
What stitch are you using? Long and short?
@@susanperry4177 Pretty much…I use a technique called thread painting which incorporates several basic stitches, including the long and short stitch. ☺️
Yay! I'm a lefty too. Don't find too many of us stitching. Wonderful tips. BTW I love your hair.
@@susanperry4177 Yay for fellow lefties! 🥰 And thank you!
Finally a fellow leftie, yes!
@@603storm Woohoo! 🥰🤚🏽
Wow! Is this a hobby, or are you a professional? I couldn't tell. From where do you get your patterns? Photos, or just your imagination? It's absolutely stunning.
@@elisaa9981 Embroidery started out as a hobby for me, but quickly became a passion, which I was able to turn into a profession. My patterns are created either using my imagination or reference photos (both my own photography, or antique oil paintings that I have come across that speak to me). Thanks so much for the comment!
@cassiemdias YW. After looking at your website and some more of your videos, it's obvious that you're a pro. As I said, amazing!
Beautiful!
@@elisaa9981 Thanks so much!
Hello, how do you (you or other people seeing my comments) know when there are enough stitches so the thickness is the same everywhere ? :o
@@byaku7550 Hi! I just try to evenly disperse the amount of stitches and only layer until the base fabric isn’t visible anymore. I also try not to overlap too much in one spot. If I’m not sure if I’ve added enough in a particular spot, I hold my work up in front of my window and see if I can see any light peeking through…if there is, I’ll add a couple more stitches. Hope this helps!
Beautiful, would love some information about how many threads you use in your needle and what sort of fabric etc, I am in UK so can’t buy from your shop sorry
@@suewaddy7390 Thank you! And thanks for the input! A quick response to your question: I usually use 2 strands of DMC’s embroidery floss in a size 26 DMC tapestry needle. I work on a medium-weight cotton duck canvas fabric. I’ll keep in mind making a video that goes more in depth about the products I use!
This was so helpful, thank you so much! 💛
@@Odette_112 Oh good! I’m happy to hear that!
This is so beautiful, thank you for the close up shots. It's wonderful to be able to see the texture of your stitches.
@@beakeeper5243 Thank you! ☺️
Your work is so lovely! Is this available as a pattern? Also, it would be great to know more about how you *create* and design the pattern itself. There are lots of videos about specific stitches, but I find it hard to get guidance about how to actually go about creating my own designs.
@@sarahgershone1327 Thanks so much! And no, this isn’t available as a pattern (yet! 😉). But, what a great idea about creating a tutorial of how I design my patterns! I’ve put this on my content to-do list! ☺️
Merci beaucoup 🙏
Please keep making videos!!! I love your embroidery they're all so pretty. I hope someday I can make beautiful art like you!
@@excesstrash Thank you so much! I’ve been really busy these past weeks, so shorts have been all I can post lately! But a new video will be up next Wednesday! ☺️
Thank you 😊
@@CandorCandor You’re welcome! ☺️
What fabric do you use please? I have just started and this looks a lot thicker than the calico cotton I have used?
@@samanthaharvey5622 Hi! I use cotton duck canvas that is sold in a roll at Michael’s.
Do you back your work with another cotton or linen fabric?
@@lisapage4270 I back my embroideries with felt. 😊
So beautiful! I love all of the wonderful colours and the choice of music. 🙂💜
It's so nice to see how you set up for your videos, and prepare to do your embroidery. Enjoy this quiet time while the kids are away.
Wow...
It's so relaxing watching you create such beautiful purple flowers. 💜
@@javaturtlegirl Thanks Aunt Lynne!
Love this so much! I love picking colors! This doesn’t look like other “short and long “ stitch that I have seen, or satin stitch….is this the “Cassandra-fill in-paintbrush” stitch?
@@BocaReikiGirl Thanks! The technique I use is called thread painting, which is basically a combination of overlapping basic stitches (long and short, straight, satin, etc.) ☺️
How do you finish the knot? Tie another knot on the backside?
@@juliewinnington662 I actually don’t tie knots on the backs of my pieces, but rather, just thread through existing stitches then snip off the excess.
I love the texture you incorporate into your pieces. I genuinely hope to get this good with my embroidery.
@@HistorBri Thanks! And just keep practicing! I’m sure you’ll get there! ☺️
Thank you so much for this tutorial....I will be using this method now. God bless you ❤
@@inbtweene2967 Thank you so much! I’m happy to help! ☺️
After all these years of hating satin stitch you have made me want to give it a try again. My satin stitch just never looked smooth and even. Your tips are fantastic! Can’t wait to practice my satin stitches and use them in embroidered pieces. HUGE THANK YOU!!!
@@angelp9956 This makes me so happy! I’m glad my tips have inspired you to give it a try again! 🥰
That is absolutely beautiful. May I just ask: Did you come from an artistic background? Did you already know how to draw and paint realism before?
@@mgenst234 Thank you! And sort of…I’ve always loved creating art ever since I was a kid, and took a couple art classes in junior high where I did painting and collage, then I did ceramics in high school. I never really studied realism in depth during my schooling, but had always been inspired by artists who could paint like that! Many of my embroidery pieces are inspired by, or are recreations of old, antique oil paintings by plein air artists. And in studying their techniques and practicing a lot, I’ve come to learn a thing or two. ☺️
Great advice, thank you. Xxx

@@Alisa-on6xp Lol thanks!
@cassiemdias I played wow for 16 years lol so I'm a total gaming nerd. Had to give you props for it.
@@Alisa-on6xp Oh awesome! I first started playing like 20 years ago (dude, that’s crazy it’s been around for so long!) and was really into it for several years, like vent/headset, raiding guild, etc lol. I would stop then come back to it every couple years, and just recently hopped back on a free account so I’ve just been exploring all the new areas and characters. Such a fun game!
@cassiemdias yeah I played way back in vanilla wow. I stopped playing 2 expansions ago. I play final fantasy 14 now when I have time. But yeah back when I played wow it was a lot of fun.
Thanks for showing me an easy way to finish my hoops.
