It was a popular genre that has since reemerged thanks to internet culture, with its fans falling in love with it due to its mix of jazz, city pop, rock, soul, and funk. Shibuya-kei artists created a unique sound that captured the essence of Tokyo's vibrant youth culture, with well-known bands...
Cerulean Blue is SUCH a good song from them
Rocket Coaster is so goateddddd
I’m so happy that you’ve made videos about these artist. I’ve been listening to Shibuya Kei/jazz fusion artists for 2 years and it’s PEAKKKKK
so so so good
Been listening to Shibuya-kei music for a while now and recently stumbled into this channel. Nice to find so many people who share the same taste in music. Even just in this comment section I've found a few bands that i hadn't heard of before. Really enjoyed this vid, keep up the good work!
Thank you for making this video, man. My wish has come true, but I still hope for a reunion or a comeback from them. All of their albums are a masterpiece. There's one particular song of theirs called "Beautiful," and the drumming by Noona Reeves is insane. I highly recommend listening to "In April," "Sayonara," and "Message" if you're new to their music.
Hey man thank you so much for the super thanks I really appreciate it❤️!! I’m hoping for a reunion too it’s much deserved, and I fully agree “beautiful” is such a master piece track, the drumming the vocals, that flute it’s so gorgeous!
I remember the first time I listened to them was back in 2005 ish on Ranma 1/2 then totally forgot about it until 2019 when COVID happened and UA-cam finally put all the Japanese bands on the website with their official channel ...I totally rediscovered them and became a fan.
BRO I LITERALLY FOUND THE SAME VIDEO LITERALLY 4 MONTHS AGO AND HAD THE SAME REACTION
Thanks for making a video on this band, been obsessed with them for over 2 years. You mentioned they sometimes perform and it would be a dream to see them. Are you aware of any social media presence to stay updated on potential gigs?
They are pretty active on social media especially Mizuno heres their insta - @paris_match_official, @mari_mizuno -On their Spotify page too theres an upcoming show tab that you can check out, they have one in April :D
3.4 Million views now and still going 🎉
Good Things always come to an end i guess...
The Van Gogh effect
Great video mate👍this guys had a nice sound, hopefully we will hear their stuff again soon🎼
I found lamp in 2016-2017, im happy they get more listeners in recent years
*Orange Glider* - Just checked and the following tracks are in Joysound for the Switch: Cue the karaoke mic! Saturday dance floor harukaze ft paris match (by deen) Cream Oceanside Liner They Long to be close to you Desert Moon Negai ft. Paris Mach (by Deen) Peace & Smile (by Deen) Summer Breeze Angel There are a couple more but I can't directly translate the kanji here. Ganbatte!
Never played Joysound but seeing this manny Paris match songs are on there I neeeed to get it hahaha thank you for sharing!
I stumbled upon the album while scrolling through my homepage just a few minutes ago. Apparently, it was already in my Watch Later list and forgot about it. I fell in love instantly as soon as I heard the instrumentals in the intro of Best Friend😍Immediately sent it to my bf, who also loves funky sounds and japanese indie!
One of my favourite Japanese contemporary bands. I love the arrangements of the songs and Mari's voice is so pleasant to listen...
Me gatekeeping pictogram colors another fascinating group. Orange Lounge is such a amazing group.
Toshiko Akioshi/Lew Tabakin.
This is very nice! Checking to see if they are on Joysound for Switch (karaoke game)
Just by the way, Paris Match is originally a French magazine launched in 1949.
yup haha it was a pain doing research on them as the magazine would always pop up instead if i didnt specify Im looking for paris match japanese band lol
@orange_glider That's a good reason to give a band a distinctive name such as 羊文学 (Hitsujibungaku) or 'Bray me' - both of them worth checking out and easy to find
Thanks for the suggestion, this sounds like something I need in my life.
I’ve seen them a few times live and they’re really good but not what I would call jazz fusion. Weather Report, Return to Forever, Mahvishnu Orchestra, Miles Davis’s Bitches Brew is jazz fusion.
omg advantage lucy. i used to listen to them alone in my room as an awkward teenager and dream about going to japan. eventually i was lucky enough to meet them when they played a little festival in aomori prefecture back in 2014, i think? it was truly a full circle moment. <3
love your videos, and i’m wondering if you have any thoughts on cibo matto? :)
thank you!! im familiar with cibo matto they are verrrrrry interesting haha it would be fun covering them tbh
great video! it's always nice to see people give attention to these lesser known and listened to japanese artists, explaning the backstories and come ups, also introducing me to bands i'd never know otherwise. it'd also be interesting to see a video on pitcher56, a shibuya-kei girl group. apparently, they made a couple albums in the early 2000s, but disbanded, then recently came back with their first "full" album in 2022.
Why are the Japanese so good at music?
Nice video! Have you heard of the Shibuya-kei band, Chocolatre?
I’ve come across “Deep Inside” a few times on Apple Music, thanks for the introduction!
I love your videos keep doing what you're doing! <3
Hell yeah, they're awesome.
Thank you so much for this video! RoundTable holds such a special place in my heart!
Just found this channel and it's crazy to see so many artists I've loved for so long who I thought no one else really knew. You heard of SOIL&"PIMP"SESSIONS, and if you have, have you thought about making a video on them? They've been my favourite band for years. Ryusenkei has some serious hits too, they might be more your speed if you haven't listened before.
Much love looking forward to covering more of your fav bands soon haha!! havent heard of SOIL & PIMP SESSIONS but Im always down to check out recommendations :) loooove Ryusenkei btw Tokyo Sniper holds a special place in my heart
@@orange_glider Hell yeah! Keep doing what you're doing. Love the content.
dude you NEED to do FPM, he was part of the shibuya-kei movement as well

I'm so happy to see people talking about Paris Match! I met them in 2023 and my life changed completely. I was fascinated by their lyrics and, especially, the instrumental of all the songs, which seem like they were created by angels 😭, they have helped me a lot until today. I really appreciate Mari Mizuno's voice and I hope more people can appreciate them too. ps: to the nines and passion8 best albums...!
