Amazing video bro. Glad you’re bringing attention to cymbals. I don’t see them talked about a lot in shibuya-kei circles. Their discography is so good. I find them very nuanced when compared to other shibuya kei and akishibu-kei bands. They have a rawness to their production and performance that feels distinctly analog. I think that’s largely due to the fact that almost all of their instruments are performed live and they don’t really use many synths and/or digital drums, at least in their first three albums. They definitely seep in to J-Rock and power pop territory in a lot of their songs. Looking forward to watching more of your videos!

Thank you so much! I agree their raw live sound definitely made them stand out amongst their peers, their first few projects were for sure more defined as rock than shibuya-kei, but so glad all the sounds that they went with from rock to electronic were so well done! I’d recommend checking out round table they are quite similar too

@@orange_glider I’m a very big fan of round table! Especially their album world’s end and nino.

Your channel just came into my recommended (after also finding nardwaur for the first time!!) i’ve been a fan of asako toki since school 10+ years ago and was lucky to see her PINK album live concert in tokyo around 2016. I only know the main classic cymbals songs from finding them on youtube but they give such a rush to the system!! This makes me wanna listen to them more and the other members’ new stuff!! Thank you!!

With the intermissions in the Mr.Noone Special album, I like to imagine the interviewer as Jeremy Hillary Boob from The Beatles Yellow Submarine movie. It's cool finding out more context behind the creation of the music and band itself !

great video !! It’s rare seeing videos on shibuya kei artists which is a shame because it’s pretty much all I really listen to! I found out about shubya kei semi recently through my dad and after listening to it for the first time it has taken over my music taste. I am looking forward to seeing more from you! Some artists I recommend are Citrobal, Fantastic plastic machine and orange lounge.

wow i’m so glad i stumbled onto this…at first i wasn’t that interested, considering i don’t regularly listen to rock bands but after hearing about “cucumber!” i was totally sold HAHA i can’t wait to go through all these songs!! i especially love the intermissions you mentioned in the video and i find them to be such a cool idea ! props to cymbals for being creative and for making “dear america”… it was quite a surprise for me to hear about an anti-war song by them! i’m glad they all seem to be doing well, and hope they continue to in the future :>
p.s. the visuals in this are crazy good, i really enjoyed the editing (and the in video captions !!)

Could you talk about the band Capsule? The style of their discography quite changed along time so I think you should be fond of them. Try listening to space station No. 9 then WORLD OF FANTASY and you will understand. PS: I’ve made two clips on my channel, one mixing a song of theirs called Jinrui No Shinpo To Chouwa with ripped loop of Soul Eater's ending 4, and another with a music named Uchu No Tunnel by Chocolat (also a Shibuya styled musician) together with Soul Eater's first ending. You can include those sequences in next videos as you wish.

I was so disappointed when The Cardigans dropped their shubuya-kei like style after their 1996 album. I looked around for something similar, but couldn't find anything. Too bad I didn't know what was going on in Japan at the time. I just found this band two weeks ago, which led me to many others. So even if I'm quite a bit late to the party, I'm happy.
