As a DD only player with sub 1000 games total I don’t really have an issue with submarines. They don’t bother me much, apart from the point that the one on my team always seems to suicide on cap 1min into the game. BUT, CVs are trash, sitting in the corner of the map, impossible to fight 1v1, fighting at no risk. Also, Hydro should not be able to spot surface ships. That’s what Radar is for. 3min 6km spotting is just stoopid.

I'm an experienced WOWS player but 95% of that is in BBs and cruisers. I'm now delving into DDs and enjoying them. IRipper has been very instructive to me learning how to DD.

Beautiful dev strike on the Smolensk! That was decisive. A hit like that in ranked on a powerfull cruiser is huge.

I enjoy playing DD’s the most too! Really like Gearing and now, Chung Mu, Marceau, Vampire II, Dearing, Shimikaze, Hayate, and etc. But my favorite is Yamigiri! The Minegumo is second now. And don’t forget the Yaduchi and the Kidd! Thanks for the video Ripper! o7

WG needs to bring back the Lushun

AP over pen does not deal more damage than HE pen. One Lushun's HE pen deal 462 damage (33% of 1400) in a non saturated part,one Lushun's AP overpen deal 220 damage (0.10x guaranteed overpen damage) and one full pen deal 726 damage (33% of 2200). And Lushun's HE still deal more damage again a saturated french dd. (231 which is 16.5% of 1400). The reason why BBs tend to shoot AP at DD, this is because unless you're a Conqueror the damage difference between the two ammo isn't worth the time wasted switching ammo.

Hey Ripper I've heard that next CBs was T8. So I started comparing, and for me at least, it seems like Lightning and Akizuki look like the top two DD's. What do you think?

If anyone from WG is reading these........what in the actual flock are you all thinking? I don't think I know of another example of a great game that is getting absolutely wrecked to this degree. You took an excellent game idea and phukked it up. Create a game mode where subs and CVs work like convoy missions with actual sub hunters and wolfpack tactics or 2 CV task forces in elimination matches with specific AA ships and let the surface ship players have their friggin game back!!! What is wrong with you people? If I didn't know any better I'd swear you are on a mission to destroy this franchise with your antics.

As a player with 8K random battles and 3-4k clan battles, I can tell you that a battleship without cover will never be a big threat. Especially in random where everyone plays their own game without supporting the rest. While it is true that a few years ago, before the arrival of submarines and the change of CV mechanics, playing battleship was easier, because even if they did not support you, you could still play "alone" in the game. The thing is that this happens mostly in random, but in clan battles it is totally the opposite. In leagues like Typhoon and Hurricane, the Battleship becomes the most important class in your lineup. Because it allows you to clear a sector where your cruisers need support and consequently helps your cruisers to take out the destroyers. But good battleship management makes a difference, especially playing well against cruisers and avoiding excessive damage from enemy battleships. Therefore alone a battleship is probably the most useless class, but as a whole it is the strongest.

I think cruisers are obsolete. I do fine in BBs.

BB main, played the game from 2016-2022, I couldnt do it anymore with the subs, tried other things, even carriers and.... well... does anyone know where I can sell an account? 115 plus premium ships, a good chunk of which you cant anymore either, not even in christmas drops.

There is an over obundance of battleships in WoWs because its so easy to do damage in them due to overmatch mechanics. The struggles and effort you have to go thru to achieve 150k dmg in a Shimakaze vs how easy it is in a BB like Yamato is insane. The test server CV rework has alot of flaws but for ships that rely on stealth this change is a big buff.

tbh subs and CVs are cancer for a reason. Gimmicky DDs don't help either. I understand that WG wants to monetize and they don't really care about balance per se apart from imbalance being a catalyst to opening wallets. But if you think about the state of balance after launch, it was more interesting. DD's had different strength and weaknesses depending on nation. Same with cruisers and BBs. Yamato was the only one overmatching bows, etc.

You good Sir earned your self another subscriber. Keep up the good work with DD vids. About the Khaba. I love it. The OG Khaba was a menance. It was my fav gunning and run DD pre nerf, but I still take it out every now and then. If you don't get around 2 mil potential you are playing it wrong :P

Hmm so you recommend the leg mod now. Glad you made this video. But don't you lose out on 20% of the heal by using it? Also, how hard is it it to play against DDs that out spot you? I assume in general random games I would get shot at by 5 ships as soon as I get out-spotted by basically every distroyer out there. Thank you!

The Zao player is the kind of impatient player who get angry because his DD teammate doesnt rush into cap. (cap contesting with Khaba is an awful idea and it's the best way to get torped)

One big factor is the subs. If you're in a BB and there is a sub around it is literally suicide to push. DD torps you have a chance to avoid by manoeuvring, but subs can just spam those homing torps at an incredible rate of fire so you'll die instantly. It is such a miserable gaming experience for the sub's target. I even prefer getting dropped by a CV if I have to choose.

Khaba legendary is the only upgrade i have! I know that super strong are for petro and Des moines too, but if you have played khaba without legendary its not so good! In my opinion definately make the ship a lot better! But back then there wasnt too many ships with that play style! there was only kleber! now you have Ragnar, Gdansk if you love that long range HE spam play style! but With khaba what you have is that amazing armor plus heal that is really difficult for enemy to kill you! What i dont like is that you cant spot anything! This ship is amazing in division to be the no 2 dd and the no 1 is the spotter, something like Vampire II , Daring , Lutsun, whatever is spoted is deleted..

Dd v sub counterplay can be so miserable. A decent sub commander will put you in a position where you can only react to his play. It freezes you, you don't have effective options. You can run away if you're lucky enough to have an egress option and a speed advantage.

What are u talking abou t, you had so much support from the BB's and you were playing near them , not ahead of them. Please do not confuse reality with wargaming.

The vids are always interesting and the points are valid but the submarine torp hits were just a series of misplays 1. Never dcp a single ping, you only dcp double pings as a DD because single pings are easy to dodge but double pings cut the reaction time by half 2. Even after dcp the torps were very easy to dodge by just turning in once torps were spotted, by turning out you allowed them to turn into you

Don't worry. The CV will rework will make things worse for BBs. They will be an even juicer target, won't kill enough planes and CVs will be able to cross the map much faster to target BBs.

Not trying to be a contrarian here or to spread hate, but I have to disagree with basically everything in this video. WG has been listening to BB players over the last 2-3 years, and have been making BBs stronger and easier to play. Secondaries have not only been buffed to the strongest state they've been in years, but WG has released strong ships that are entirely centred around secondaries. Although HE spam has been getting stronger, BBs have also been given more and more resistance to fires and HE spam in the form of improved heal duration, improved heal cooldown, better DCPs, better armor, F key gimmicks ,and most importantly buffed captain skills that make BBs nearly impossible to burn to death with a full tank build. on top of all this WG has been making BBs less punishing to play by giving them braindead armor schemes that make them very challenging to citadel, faster turret traverse, better conceal, top speeds that rival DDs, HE capabilities that outpace cruiser HE spam, more and more overmatch, and insanely accurate guns. BBs are quite possible in the strongest position they have ever been in since the game's release. Every example you used of BB being helpless to influence the game in this video is because those BB players were bad players, not because the class is weak. Any half decent BB player with more than 40 iq can absolutely roll a flank and singlehandedly carry a game. BB players aren't sitting at the back of the map refusing to push in because they have no other choice, they are sitting at the back of the map refusing to push in because 90% of them don't understand basic map positioning, angling, or torp dodging, so they'd rather play it safe and conserve HP instead of taking risky positions to actually try and win the game.

It's just fitting that the premier team based surface ship combat game would FORCE objects in that changed naval warfare exponentially into the game then tell you "aaaahhhh....shaddaaaap!" when you ask what the thinking was. If CVs weren't bad enough, they had to make it intolerable. My experience in Cerberus......a cruiser with smoke screen that allows you to be a little more situationally aggressive.....I take an aggressive position allowing me to damage a number of ships...I'm immediately pinged by sub then have CV flood screen with torpedo crossfire. Just mind boggling.

Agree with your sub rant. I would like to see a filter where the player could check a box to be included or not in a match with subs or cvs. Something like thet would be more telling, imho, to WG about how the community feels about subs and cvs. Maybe get xp bonuses if u choose to play with subs and cvs. Keep up the good work!

CV changes will lower the number of planes killed; subs have made BBs not just scared but run immediately. Some of the DDs can just outclass the BBs. The ships with funny buttons can just farm some of the BBs at will. so, who wonders why BBs may not be the first choice for some players now. I can get into the Mainz and rain pure hate down on a BB and the more they hit me the faster I fire closer to 4.2 seconds starting at 6 seconds. That is twelve 150mm's firing like a DD.

...engine boost doesn't make you slow faster.

Seems obvious that carriers and subs both went a long way to making BBs obsolete. No counter play to either one other than running to the edge of the map and effectively being out of the game.

BBs don't push so of course they go obsolete. Most of them will gladly let their DD or CA die so they can get a random cit.

As a BB main I just push W. I never run fire suppression. In 9/10 games I'm paired on the flank with the submarine. Nose dive the closest island and then spend the next 230 seconds launching ASW planes at things underwater that I don't have a bearing on. This is absurd. My ASW planes don't even drop a hydrophone in the water. My hydroacoustic search module is broken beyond repair as it will spot ships through islands, underwater torpedoes but will not detect a submerged submarine. The ASW targeting mechanic is nauseating and broken. It is absurd to think I'm launching and retrieving a single sea plane every 40 seconds. with my shipboard crane or the boys are out there putting bombs on the wings with the vessel tender. Perhaps some actual realism that is obvious with ASW and CV historical accounts and movies, run silent run deep among others. All the developers have to do is read a wikipedia page on the subject matter but reading and comprehension is likely not one of their greatest skills. Unlimited ammunition is absurd as well. Damage models are superficial as well. If a ship sustains a single torpedo hit in real life during WW2 it normally forced that ship to disengage from the area. In this game the only method to disengage is the broken border mechanic. After all these year these developers still have square maps with invisible boundaries. CV's should be 100 NM away flying sorties of divebombers and fighter escorts. Submarines and torpedo boats are ridiculous to think that any boat or sub would hold more than 20 torpedo on board. Again highly unrealistic. The code for this game needs to be released open source so that the community can rewrite it and fix the game. The game needs real world monetization system based on NFT and blockchain technology and the community members need to be getting paid for the time they spend playing the game. Factions and nations should actually mean something. Ship classes and types needs to become relevant. Like only one Yamato for instance. Intermixing of ship types from different nations historically friend and foes is beyond ridiculous. This message will self destruct after a few days as I delete all comments, run brave browser, never see ads and yes ewetube can go ring their own bell and sub to themselves.

I have played this game from the start. I remember when bbs would push up and take damage protect their dds and cruisers by taking the damage for them. The game was so much more fun back then. I personally don’t care about cvs in the game because you can div play the game and stick together. But the subs and super ships and combat instructions are cancer to this game. Just my opinion.
