The Duke says, a Shelby Cobra with a 427 runs 12.2 seconds in the quarter mile. A hemi charger or roadrunner about 13 seconds flat. Put me in a Cobra What did I teach you?
Very nice I have owned my 1994 for over 22 years.
First time watcher! What is going to happen to Marsha after the tour? I really like the C bodies and hope to find one for myself.. Unfortunately at 70 and with serious physical challenges (100% disabled Navy Vet) my days of working/restoring on a classic are over. So I will have to find one basically done. Does Marsha have air? My son just found a 1966 Valient 4 door with the 225 in great shape so I get to see the process up close..
No apologies needed for us mopar guys and gals. Anytime you can get something that clean and get fixed for a reasonable price it’s a win. I’ve never owned a Toyota but would have jumped on that little truck as well.
Finally MOPARs making MOPAR👍💯
Right?
Jack Stands?? Safety First 🙂
They’re there. This truck ain’t worth dying over.
If your daughter appreciates it, it's a win!!! Most kids are spoiled and expect something newer. You must have raised her right. Good luck fixing it up for her. Great buy by the way!
She’s still a little nervous about driving a stick, but she sure knows how to dump a clutch! 🤪
I'll do you one better - a 99 Ram 2500 for $900 Cab is rusty, but it pulled my wife's '73 Charger from Central Jersey to Carlisle - Needed some minor work, but the AC is cold and runs great with 100K miles
That sounds like a steal!
came here for the bulletproof toyota found out today what a mopar is
Nice!
I heard about that car and the crash, but I never knew, or even wondered what happened to that car. Thank you for sharing this video!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hey there I am going to restore my Daddy's car he was a Vietnam Vet and story is on my channel. I hope to make the magazine one day :) wishful thinking.
Sounds like an awesome project - good luck with the restoration!
@@moparconnection thank you so much
My first thought was ... Is it even possible to build a 500 inch Mopar wedge and NOT HIT 600?
Right? Unfortunately, we've seen plenty fall well short of it.
@@moparconnection Color me surprised.
Just ran across this video. I bought the World Products 572 aluminum block a few years back new for $3500 .Mitchell had them advertised on E Bay . Built with Stage 5 heads, Eagle crank and rods , Diamond pistons for a pump gas build. My 1970 coda runs 5.90's in the 1/8 th mile. No Dyno so unknown hp. Hemi =$$$$$
Sounds like a killer combo!
i know im a little late but what happened to the rest of the car? like the fiber glass front end the suspension the wheels engine?
No clue
I really like that background music - it's really catchy and makes my toes wiggle and my foot tap.
Thanks!
I know its not gonna be restored and all, but how the hell would you restore it in the first place?
Lots of donor parts and a frame table.
Gen 3 Hemi swap?
LOL not on this one - Jim and I did consider a D50 though
I could have bought 5 of those for the $2900 I just spent on my Ram electric steering rack😢......well bought!!!
Oh man that’s pricey!
Nice little truck for the little lady
I wanted to make sure that her first car was a stick.
sacrilege!
Oh c’mon! It’s not that bad.
@@moparconnection great truck
That was a steal. Great grocery getter. They really pay for themselves.
Yeah it was impossible for me to let it slip by.
Don't hate me , LS SWAP...
LOL Jim and I were just thinking about a cheapo turbo. I don’t think an LS would fit!
@moparconnection never heard a man that said he couldn't make it fit. Just saying hehehe
ZING! OK fair enough - I just don’t want to cut it up. It’s gonna be for my kid anyways.
@moparconnection I 100% agree with you. Especially having ur Daughter driving it with bulletproof armor . Lol I truly meant LS swap but got excited & forgot your Daughters wheels & doesn't need torque w/a pickup. Please forgive me. /ᐠ。ꞈ。ᐟ\
If it didn't have a repairable 22RE, I would agree LS swap.
A Toyota pickup AND a Kawasaki hoodie! Say it isn’t SO, Kevin, Say It Isn’t SO!!! 🤭 On another note, how many other 1994 vehicles have a cold-blowing, non-leaking coolant system still intact (is so, they are probably also - a Toyota)!😂 Ha, please no replies!
I used to race for Kawasaki many years ago, so I’m a tad biased 😉
Never had a rope seal leak talking head !
You've probably never built an engine worth a spit, random commenter on UA-cam.
France not French
Gawd. Clearly look at the comments before commenting.
I’m so glad I found this video!! I’m looking to put a 5speed in my Stroked 62 Buick Skylark Rover block, 300 crank, 300 heads, Schneider roller cam, automatic to manual swap. This made my day, keep up the great content!!!
That sounds like a fun project!
I thought '70/'71 Hemis got a hydraulic cam?
They are hydraulic but they still suck.
Thanks for the kind words, Kevin! Give me a shout when you come through Arkansas!
I gotta know what your secret sauce was in getting that 499 to beat our 505! We had bigger heads and more cubes and you spanked us!
Appreciate the video.. if you have the time i like to know about what i read many many years ago in a hot rod magazine, i dont remember which one . That the wedge big block bottom end was not strong enough to support higher hp . I dont remember the exact number but i know that was the final straw for me . On a build i saw where you installed a main girdle and i think different main caps on a stroker build ..Back in those days i was not aware of any cylinder heard that would allow a big block wedge Mopar to make hp and tq as compared to todays standards. So what is the RPM and tq limit of a wedge big block with the girdle and main caps . I assumed you would need to have the block machined and line honed for the main caps .. i appreciate your insite. Thanks
We’ve personally seen factory wedge blocks pump out 750hp naturally aspirated with no cap walk. The 505” we built with a girdle was ridiculous overkill and super unnecessary (in hindsight). Factory main caps would’ve been fine and shaved off quite a bit of weight (the steel girdle was hefty).
Suggest you build a twisted 45 degree ball stud Hemi head, I believe in Ohio museum in a '68 Barracuda. The engine weighs about a 100 pounds lighter, similar design should be better performance. Whatever you do, use a 4.500 bore size, 36 or 40 degree combustion chamber, not 58.5 degree, too heavy !!!!!!!
There are NO ballstud Hemis. The only existing one is a prototype.
I don't wanna criticize , he definitely knows what is going on. Too bad none of us are any more ahead...........pretty sparse instruction.
Sorry you didn’t get much out of this. Others felt it was very helpful.
He will not ship any parts I needed some small parts he had and asked if he would ship and he messaged back and said I dont have time for that so my search gos on😞
No he won’t. You need to go in person just like a pick-u-part. It’s not Amazon.
@@moparconnection I would go but quite a drive from Erie County,Pa
Who could do this engine/transmission install in the Indianapolis, IN. area? I have a 2015 Challenger with a 392 now.
You want to put a 572 Hemi in a modern Challenger?!
@@moparconnection maybe. i am interested in something NA closer to 700 hp. Had camshaft/valvetrain/long headers, high flow cats/cold air intake done last year. But that was done in Wilmington, NC. Too much wasted money in transport. Need something closer to Indy.
your auto focus is terrible on every video I've watched.
It’s an older camera but I’ll try to make sure it’s in focus more.
👍🏻
So in other words this is not a stock hemi so nevermind
Find me a stock bore 1969 426 Hemi, princess 👍🏻
I Want This Engine For My 1986 YUGO GV!!
Do you really have a Yugo?
I maybe wrong, and correct me if I am. The only difference between the street Hemi and the NASCAR used was the cam, lifters, and new carb jets. There were a few dealers back in the day had a "special" box you could check and it was "tuned" up within factory specs. Yeah Right!! Keep the insurance rates from going up. Probably a few has rolled out with way more than the "425 hp" and folks that hanged onto them, have the paperwork to prove it.
Oh there was very little shared between the two.
30 underccrank?? Are they nuts??
Pfft! That’s nothing. That’s only 2.345”; I’m running 2.200” on my 535cu stoker. Turning down the rod journal frees you up to run all sorts of rod options. Racers do it ALL THE TIME.
First scooter I seen on the street he was built by Dino SpeedWorld They actually had to put a big block Chevy in it to make it run in the tens, and even then the car was still in those heavy
Nice!
Could never figure out what the big deal was over a Chrysler hemi here in New York City on the streets a connecting highway conduit Boulevard anywhere back in the day 6869 hemi and a charger road runner or Khuda usually got the doors blown off by a good running Z 28 396 375 for Chevelle can handle any heavy car of the day and go much faster with simple both on Sunday to cause pastry Camaros from Boulder Moshe Chevrolet with the fastest day to cause ever produced and he would work on any bill Tammy those in the streets here do you want to kind of a big money cause everything was he the big box Chevy small block Very very few hemi cars ever think in all the time I’ve only seen somebody building all that heavy cough a big Monica to run against a good 10/2 nine second Camaro, Chevelle or 55 Chevy most guys with more pies built wedges they were more responsive than hemi hemi’s boat anchors
I hate to agree with you but I do.
It was a numbers game with insurance companies. In that era there could not be more hp than cubic inch. Wonder how many motors State Farm dyno'd...lol
Hence gross HP numbers
I had a 69 Coronet 500 back in the day.
Sad story about the history of this car. However, @02:45, I spied a BUICK!
Good eye!
Kevin, great story. It's good to see these cars come back to life!
Glad you enjoyed it!
If you really want to do burnouts, you have to have headers out the hood (lol). Great video.
