    Very helpful. I did a simulation day yesterday and was planning to get in a workout with my studio gym the next morning. But my body hasnt fully recovered. I got five weeks before hyrox so i decided to play the smart game, active rest, pool session because I got another hyrox training with my gym tomorrow. One thing i learn from this video is that if I do a hard training session each day with little recovery, my progress diminishes. So, yes, playing the smart game to prevent injury. Hyrox prep reminds me of my rugby days.

    Brilliant video thank you so much for sharing this information. Was also doing HIT based workouts from 2021-2023 then gym strength training and some cardio from 2024-now plus a marathon in 2024 April but haven’t run since 😂 🙈 Very interested in starting training for a hyrox and gaining more information.     The wife and I are doing Stuttgart in 5 weeks, I’ve only just started running properly again after 2 months out with hip/shin issues, plus she’s just had shoulder/bicep surgery 3 weeks ago so very little movement.. Still determined to do the race however, it will probably be me doing all the stations and us both running! Going for the experience of the race day and to have fun just completing it, oh and a German beer or two! 🙌🏻

    Im doing Dublin in November 1st timer. Im doing it for a charity (a local school for kids with special needs) my goal is just to finish and without injury. Im doing a doubles sim in a week or two just to see my weak areas .. im a slow runner and have been focusing on running the last while along with strength work. But some days im overwhelmed by the enormity of doing it as an individual. But i have ylto honestly say im finding your channel so inspiring and helpful. Ill get through it it might not be pretty but ill get there!!! Eeekkkkkk

      Just know your pacing will need to be a bit slower for a solo rather than individual, and if anything go even slower and build up into your Hyrox rather than going too fast then it all being struggle. Just remember, there's lots of other people just like you, doing it for the first time, and you've got loads of people supporting you on, everyone is so friendly and supportive. You'll definitely do it and you'll love crossing that line 💪

      The weeks rest might be all you need, rest can do you the world of good. Fatigue masks fitness. The week to rest up, feel good and then push on for a great event at Birmingham 💪

My gym's missing quite a lot of equipment that would help me train for a hyrox and the funny thing is that it's the one most most equipped gyms where I'm from. I'm also curious to know what's an alternative to a Ski-erg and what could be a circuit to follow at a gym with not a lot of equipment. If you would like to address this in a future video would be super helpful. Cheers guys

    Thanks for the vid. I find it difficult to understand when people say, "Run at the speed you can maintain for an hour". How do I know ahead of time? Surely, one will start out slower to conserve energy for later on, so the speed will surely increase towards the end, with the end in sight, so-to-speak. Also, mentally, an hour's run could turn into 80 mins... 90 mins... depending on how the body feels on the day. So you almost need to be like a car to know the exact point your body will simply cease to be able to carry on. Surely, it's not an exact science. Hope I don't come across argumentative (which I probably do!) But I always struggle with knowing what pace I could do a 5k...10k for as this will vary daily depending on fatigue levels, hormones and even mental resilience to push through one day more than another. If that makes sense?

      Hi Victoria, yes that all makes sense. having a watch that shows you the speeds you are running at and at the end shows you average speeds and heart rates is really helpful. The more running you do the more you'll know speeds to run at for the different distances you are doing. None of this is an exact science as you would need lab testing for that and regular retests as your body adapts to training. The 60 mins run would be a test to do to then use those speeds for other training, just like you could test your 5Km and 10Km times and speeds. If you were then out running and you ended up doing 90 mins at a pretty consistent speed then you would have been below anaerobic threshold and more towards aerobic threshold which is fine. You're not testing every training session, you can just test to get a guide for what you are doing. So you will need to go of how you feel based on fatigue levels, hormones etc. Also even if you were tested in a lab, that's lab conditions on a treadmill, which would then be different to running outside in different weather conditions on different surfaces. Just remember everything is on a scale and nothing is exact, it's all a guide.

    I'm 57 been going to gym for couple of years but was never an athlete, signed to for hrox on October 😮 training 6 times a week, but not all specific Hyrox, mixing in building up running and some weight training. Others seem to be doing constant Hyrox run through s, but I'm reluctant to do this.

      I'm guessing that's Hyrox Birmingham, we'll be there, it's a brilliant event and you'll love it. It's good to keep your training general now, then make it more specific as you get closer to the race, so you know how to pace everything. But it also does me good to get used to things like wall balls and the dreaded burpee broad jumps.

    2x45 minute strength sessions 2x60/70 minute Hyrox specific 6 runs totalling 5-6 hours 3 competitions, got 2nd in age category at worlds and 9th overall in the world.

    Incredibly interesting video. Thanks for the information. I train at a gym which has become affiliated, so have been training hyrox since Jan. Am really hooked. I tend to do five sessions a week. A mixture of hyrox classes and I tend to pinch a couple of workouts from your Instagram page. I am building in a lot more rest days and lighter sessions. Am having to do a lot more running as this is probably my weakest area. Personally I fit the sessions around work and kids. Really enjoy your content. Thanks

      Good to be at an affiliated gym 💪. The lighter sessions and steady runs definitely pay dividends, it just takes a while. Glad you like the content

      If you search '7 zone heart rate system' on google and select images then do the same for 5 zone.

      Glad you love them. We used various youtube ones like this one (ua-cam.com/video/d4ZJXhCmORA/v-deo.htmlsi=zetJSt_x0FHHMzT6) , and did quite a few different ones, then picked out some of our favourite stretches and stick to them.
