Installing a gearbox isn't one of those jobs you want to do solo, but, especially when it's not the gearbox you were hoping to be installing. Had to be done though.

Swapping gearboxes on the T3 is pretty straightforward. If everything goes smoothly that is. I wanted to swap my 4-speed for a 5-speed - if only it was as easy as it sounds.

Genius,.
I want to thank you for this video, never thought of the aquarium pump, didn't want to bother with compressor, air pumps, soldering irons etc. This is super simple.
Hey thanks How to change differential oil ?
There is a drain and fill plug on the diff itself.
Lovely transmission.
I think you want to remove the seal you put on the roof metal for the luggage rack. It needs to be able to drain. Ask me how I know.
cool
Love this! So educational for a T3 noob like me! Pure gold! Subscribed!
Nice man . Good hack
Awesome !!! 😊😊😊
This how I know I am watching trash on youtube...don't rely on this and expect it to fail soon...nice
Some spark plugs interfere with radio waves
Those are automotive plugs, not aviation certified. Totally different certification process and simply not made for aviation purposes. The amount of cost and engineering time to put into it to certify for something it doesn't need just isn't justified. Bosch INVENTED spark ignition, they don't make cheap shoddy product now, 125 years later just to make a quick buck. The company is huge, this is peanuts to them.
That only means that the part has not had the certification from the Europe Aviation Safety Authority *(EASA) for use.
That makes sense. So your bet is they didn't get them certified to lower the end price, and not because they are crap? 😅
It'll usually double or triple the cost of even the most basic material or product for aviation use.
That is not what that symbol means. It's nothing to do with quality or reliability
Then what?
A cursory search leads me to believe the plugs are different in size, wear patterns, temperature gradients across the plug and oil/lead fouling. I'm not sure about any of this, but I'm doubting the symbols have to do with quality or reliability. They seem to just be subjected to different operating conditions.
@@BearBoris wrong size for a start
It just means that plug hasn't been certified by the aviation safety authority doesn't mean it's bad
Size and temperature rating has nothing to do with it for sure. They won't fit on my motorcycle either, but there's no warning for that... Two strokes require a plug with a higher temp rating, but never seen any labels or warnings for that either... It makes sense that they need special certification to be used in aircrafts. The question remains - did they skip the certification to lower the cost, or because they didn't meet the criteria. :D
mine sucks in air no leaks......giving up on cars......forever....
Atta boy, get a public transport pass, way more value for money!
@@BearBoris I bought an electric motorcycle.....
I like the use of brake cleaner like it is a mechanic shop :D
Accepting donations for brake cleaner!
I honestly just wanted to know it would work. My car has been stuck in a snow drift in my backyard since fall and it has bald tires and now to change them out i need to get the car to somehow move out of the snow on absolutely bald tires lol
Great video man!!!
Most people have to travel to their jobs some over an hour so at community must be huge. As usual God funny show
Good clear informative info. New sub
Great video Boris, keep it up! I hate modern society throwing everything good away.
What is the replacement part number for the copper inserts?
1 inch of snow,
IF, if a VW T3 is properly maintained, the endurance is virtually infinite. Harsh use, pulling heavy loads for longer times for instance, and predominantly the lack of regular maintenance causes these chafing/gearbox problems. Maintenance , why do maintenance? Why change the gear oil? It works OK, isnt it? Answer is here: Gear oil deteriorates by moving (yes!) and by high temperatures (even more!). That is why you MUST change it every 100.000 kms. Or face the metal splinters. Make your own choice. Greets, Louis. 420.000 km's VW T3, 1980. First gearbox (!) and second engine.
I can speak mostly for my country, but it probably goes for all around the world. The Germans made a car that can do the heavy work and not complain for a while. But people here see it's tough and rugged and simply abuse it even more - not giving it anything back. On a side note - If there is a weak point in the construction of the T3 it's definitely the rust and the gearbox 😅. Cheers Louis! I wish you 420 000 more! Send me a pick on instagram @bearbauris , I'd love to see it! BB

Thank`s!

Does gear box av to come to change on MITSUBISHI L200 Triton
I don't get your question?
Just adding a comment since Mecho doesn't believe I do actually watch his videos (well, most of them)
Good stuff, Mechka! Can't wait to see the whole thing put together!
You already put it in the right order - Turbo, Exterior, Interior so... crack on! Cant wait to see a massive camping bed in it ✌️🔥💯👍
don't worry, the bolts you had to cut of are never removed easely, they are at the worst place of the van and even at the place that collect the most dirt on the van, so, most of the time you have to cut them off unfortunatly they are no washers on my hub either, the point is unmounting all the brake stuff and then use a socket to remove the big nut at the center of the wheel, next time loosen it on the van with the wheel, it's much easier that way
Did not work on my 2008 Toyota Camry in .5 inch of snow.
How many were sold here? It's a better question. I've never ever seen one and I grew up at the about the time, let alone now days.
According to Wikipedia - 3.7 million. They were actually very popular in the the Eastern European ex-soviet states.
I think a electric updated one would be awesome as a city car.. like fiat 500
That's actually not a bad idea! Considering the body doesn't really rust. :D

More power
Yes then he can dig himself into a hole with all that power and then he will have to go and push it out🎉
A good set of Nokian Hakkapeliitta 10 studded snow tires in 185/65r15 would work perfectly on that car. A 2wd with proper winter tires and LSD is better than a 4wd with All Season Tires. The temporary zip ties are garbage. They aren't legal in most areas. I'd also recommend getting an Audi Quattro or Subaru.
Audi and subaru are crappy cars dont recomend
