I disagree. I think the writing works. She's starting to lose it here and is making the point (albeit explicitly) that the sex they had and all that involved meant something much more important to her. By being so explicit, she is trying to convince David that what they had was special, because of the lengths she went to in order to please him. Probably trying to convince herself as well.
