Giving up on Russian | Video E̶s̶s̶a̶y̶ Poem | Konomi
Переглядів 2921 день тому
Being from a country where knowing Russian is a HUGE advantage and having had failed interactions with strangers because I couldn't speak it, I decided to learn some before I eventually gave up and ran back to Japanese-a language that has virtually no practical use whatsoever but is very enjoyable nonetheless. I thought about talking more about my experience, how I studied (because I did), and ...
Adding Audio to Sentence Cards Became Even EASIER (FFmpeg Library)
Переглядів 1688 місяців тому
This is a follow up video to my previous "ADDING AUDIO TO ANKI FLASHCARDS" video. With the unexpected popularity of the original video, I couldn't end 2023 without sharing the easier way. If you had trouble with the method before, this should solve it. Thank you, @normiel7135 , for commenting and bringing this to my attention! :) FFmpeg download: lame.buanzo.org/ffmpeg.php The original video: u...
Master HIRAGANA and KATAKANA With This Simple Method (song lyrics)
Переглядів 288 місяців тому
In my Japanese lessons, we were asked to only write in hiragana and katakana, which meant no kanji but also no romaji, so I had to figure out a way to practice writing the two scripts without getting stuck. This is the method/exercise I came up with, taking advantage of my love for Japanese music. When I wrote the script I tried to make it minimalistic but when I started editing I included a lo...
An Argument For Vocab Cards Over Sentence Cards on Anki (+HOW TO)
Переглядів 27110 місяців тому
In this video I will show you how to quickly and easily create vocab cards (for Japanese). When we compare what it takes to create vocab cards to the process of creating sentence cards, it is clear that vocabulary cards are superior since they're easier to create and delete once you've learned the words. The broader takeaway of this video is that immersion is super important. Just studying the ...
ADDING AUDIO TO ANKI FLASHCARDS - EASY HOW-TO (very useful for sentence mining)
Переглядів 4,3 тис.Рік тому
In this video I will show you a very easy way of adding audio to anki flashcards, which is very useful if you're sentence mining and would like to listen to the original audio while studying later. All you need to do is record that sentence with OBS and then edit the audio in Audacity. I'll how you how to convert it in the video. Software you need (everything is free!): OBS: obsproject.com/down...

    You say the name of the channels in the video, but I can’t find a list of the channel names in the desc- it would be helpful because I can’t always hear the names clearly. Could you post a list somewhere? お願いします!

      Thanks for pointing it out! I'll hopefully get to it this weekend, but for the time being, here's the playlist with all the videos I used in the video ua-cam.com/play/PLbxxynREwIFcTTKjxvQIsWaBtJlpbX1_M.html (so you can easily find the channels). がんばって

    theres anki addons that do this for you, very inefficient

    • @baiburume
      @baiburume 25 днів тому

      I'm sure there are :) I've found that the card sticks with me better if I spend more time on it and give it a little bit more love. This also ensures that I don't bite off more than I can chew. But if addons work for you just fine, more power to you.

    I use Yomichan + Anki connect and can literally create sentence cards with audio and pitch accent graphs at the click of a button. Sure sometimes I have to manually edit the card but it's still just a matter of seconds. Finding trustworthy translations isn't that hard either, since we have multi-language subtitles on Netflix or even streaming platforms with dual subtitles like a certain melon. So I think the only factor that matters should be whether or not someone finds sentence cards beneficial to one's learning progress.

    yeah I've started with vocab cards but I think I will transition to sentence cards now... the problem I have is with words that have multiple meanings. For example word "draft" has 7+ different meanings. Putting it all into single anki card and trying to remember all of that without context is very hard and counter-productive. It is much better to split this into 7+ different cards, each with a sentence that showcases different meaning and usage. So for example "they drank some draft beers in the evening yesterday" or "he saved the draft of his document not to lose his progress" etc.

    very cool but it doesn't seem to add the audio, also would love to get rip of the duplicate, English to Japanese seems unnecessary, I like the format word kana only to English and the kanji reading recall to English

    Are you using Basic and Reversed Card type in Anki or just basic as default?

    • @baiburume
      @baiburume 25 днів тому

      Doing this changes the card type to jp.takoboto, which is its own thing entirely. You can change it to basic and choose what info to keep on the front and back (reading or meaning, for example; the takoboto card type has everything).

    Since you can automate almost all of the Card making process with a lot of software today, I don't think it's enough of an strong argument on why Vocab Cards are more effective, I believe that the reason why Vocab Cards are more effective is that when you're SRSing a Card you're not just SRSing the word but you're also arguably SRSing the context of the show so when you start reading the Sentence Card, they're is a high chance that before you even read the whole sentence or maybe even before you read the word that u mined, you already are gonna know the the context of the show so you're already are gonna know the meaning of the word, so when you have Sentence Cards there is a good chance that you are basically "bypassing" the SRS process for the word, which is also why I think people find Sentence Cards easier then Vocab Cards and why is why I think that Sentence Cards are a bit counter intuitive.

    • @baiburume
      @baiburume 10 місяців тому

      Sure, you can automate it if you're the type who doesn't mind downloading extra software or writing code (or learning to write it). The way I make sentence cards is so complex to me that I haven't even thought about trying. True, automation would get rid of the personal attachment to the hard work. Thanks for commenting and sharing your thoughts! :)

    wait it wont let me driop the file into audacity

    • @baiburume
      @baiburume Рік тому

      Well this is annoying but I believe we can fix this :) I suspect the problem is that you do not have FFmpeg libraries installed. In Audacity go to Edit -> Preferences -> Libraries and then download it (or you can google for a tutorial if that's more comfortable). This should allow you to drop MP4 files directly into audacity (without needing to change the file extension). Please let me know if this fixes the problem :)
