  • Being from a country where knowing Russian is a HUGE advantage and having had failed interactions with strangers because I couldn't speak it, I decided to learn some before I eventually gave up and ran back to Japanese-a language that has virtually no practical use whatsoever but is very enjoyable nonetheless.
I thought about talking more about my experience, how I studied (because I did), and how I am mysteriously motivated to learn Japanese but not Russian. Russian is a beautiful language, and I would like to know it. Instead of a video essay, I tried to put my experience into a short poem for a challenge (I am no poet).
I know that I can still learn Russian in the future, and with the Internet, I have every resource to do so. But I will keep learning Japanese for now because it comes to me effortlessly.
Have you ever felt something like this?
