    yeah I've started with vocab cards but I think I will transition to sentence cards now... the problem I have is with words that have multiple meanings. For example word "draft" has 7+ different meanings. Putting it all into single anki card and trying to remember all of that without context is very hard and counter-productive. It is much better to split this into 7+ different cards, each with a sentence that showcases different meaning and usage. So for example "they drank some draft beers in the evening yesterday" or "he saved the draft of his document not to lose his progress" etc.

      Yes! This is a real concern. I've also moved back to sentence cards haha

    still I don't think it replaces sentence cards completely, but very cool to make cards really fast

    Since you can automate almost all of the Card making process with a lot of software today, I don't think it's enough of an strong argument on why Vocab Cards are more effective, I believe that the reason why Vocab Cards are more effective is that when you're SRSing a Card you're not just SRSing the word but you're also arguably SRSing the context of the show so when you start reading the Sentence Card, they're is a high chance that before you even read the whole sentence or maybe even before you read the word that u mined, you already are gonna know the the context of the show so you're already are gonna know the meaning of the word, so when you have Sentence Cards there is a good chance that you are basically "bypassing" the SRS process for the word, which is also why I think people find Sentence Cards easier then Vocab Cards and why is why I think that Sentence Cards are a bit counter intuitive.

      Sure, you can automate it if you're the type who doesn't mind downloading extra software or writing code (or learning to write it). The way I make sentence cards is so complex to me that I haven't even thought about trying. True, automation would get rid of the personal attachment to the hard work. Thanks for commenting and sharing your thoughts! :)

    very cool but it doesn't seem to add the audio, also would love to get rip of the duplicate, English to Japanese seems unnecessary, I like the format word kana only to English and the kanji reading recall to English

      I agree, it's quite annoying if you don't want that :/

    Do you test with English on the front, Kanji on the front, kana on the front, or audio on the front? 😂😂. If anyone knows a slick Korean dictionary app that does or mostly does what she described (IE does word lists and lets you export them) please let me know.

    I was using a premade vocab deck and in that deck you had cards with one word which had three to four meanings in the back of the card. I never managed to properly remember all meanings so I thought maybe sentence cards by separating the different meanings of the same word might work better for learning. Just the word on the front cannot provide enough context for remembering which definition you are looking to recall. And if you try to recall all of them it's much harder to do (should I press again if I only remembered 2 of 4 different meanings?)

      That's the dilemma! I usually get frustrated and am happy with one correct answer :D (most of the time, you can kind of guess the other meanings from context).

    Are you using Basic and Reversed Card type in Anki or just basic as default?

    • @baiburume
      @baiburume  2 місяці тому

      Doing this changes the card type to jp.takoboto, which is its own thing entirely. You can change it to basic and choose what info to keep on the front and back (reading or meaning, for example; the takoboto card type has everything).
