They aren't charity shops anymore. The pricing is ridiculous. They are meant to serve those on low income, help the local community, as well as raise money for the named charity. They have become corporate businesses, and the only ones that really benefit are the corporate bosses. Many of these charity shops now stock brand new items to sell, which is totally unfair to the small business who struggle to pay full rent, rates, all other utilities, pay employees and earn a decent wage for themselves. Charity shops receive reductions in their utilities, the workforce is mainly volunteers, and the vast majority of items sold were donated. To top it all many have been refurbished to look like top end boutiques. You can buy a new bread machine for £45. And a new clothes cheaper online. Charity shops have driven away their biggest source of income, the working classes, by being greedy

This is definitely going to lead to more INAD cases. This just makes things even more complicated for sellers. eBay's crazy fees and ridiculous changes are driving me more to Vinted and I will be downgrading my eBay subscription at the end of this month.

It's comical that Ebay have run out of ideas to the point that they've blatantly started copying Vinted in many ways including this. It's clear that David ( Vinted ) has Goliath ( Ebay ) rattled. Imagine being Messima Hembry who have over 281,000 items listed and this being sprung on them. They'll need to assign a group of staff specifically just to get all that checked and amended otherwise they'd be under describing items in excellent condition and over describing items in fair condition.

Interesting thoughts on Google, but I do think AI needs a lot more work at the moment for it to be considered for things like eBay when items need item specific things that it won't pick up from a photo. Another great video, loving the drops vids! Would you consider talking about recording setups for the Gopro at boot sales and charity shops for bit of an episode? I've gone with a cheap camera that I feel is less intrusive than the Gopro but quality is going to be less obviously, I just feel like I'll be judged with the chest mount on?! Maybe I'm over thinking now 😅 are people that bothered?

Letting a charity have a shop for free or low rent is a good way to keep landlords' bills low and watch land value go up if you can't get a real business in.

Well right now after being In A&E on Sunday night . Mum has taken over most of it . I’m helping where I can but I hate not being able to do it . I’m doing what I can to help . I wish I had draft bank lol going work on that when I’m better .

I don't get ill very often but about 3 weeks before Christmas i came down with a killer bug. I did no work and hardly moved for 3 days and would happily do it again. If I'd kept on working the illness would have lasted a lot longer. 3 days on the couch watching films and sleeping was the best thing i could have done.

Depends how ill you are mate :) if ya at deaths door, u gota take a day off to rest and recoup. and if ya constantly push through all the time, and that used to be me (running a pub, working 7days per wk for years, had a baby, finished my full shift while having contractions, and went back to wrk a wk later, yea, im that nuts!), but if you dnt rest, you can make your illness more prolonged, and feel more rubbish for longer! false economy! Happy Tuesday mate :)

My sales on Ebay are extremely low at the moment. I’ve set up a fake account on FB (I quit FB many years ago) and try to list some of the items there as well. Isn’t Vinted more clothing focused ? I am everything seller. Thanks

I''ve never used packlink before, but there is a new system coming shortly needing tracking for all items posted. It would be easier and certainly quicker if this was done automatically. I have three items to post, but on all three, there are warnings about the address. One is as simple as a postcode being put in brackets by the buyer, rather than just normal. Another is the city name (LICHFIELD) being written in capitals, rather than Lichfield. these seem pretty petty to me .. do I have to make all the changes to make sure the parcel is sent.

I’m still fairly positive about eBay, and that’s probably because I sell the most there. I see people selling typewriters and radios on esty but have no idea if they sell or are just listed 🤷‍♂️

I have been selling on eBay for over ten years (High end books, as well as comics and media) and in that time its changed tremendously. Its hard now to get views, let alone sales now. I resell full time and if it wasn't for Vinted i suspect i would have to give up and try something different. Even when you make sales on eBay, they take such a large portion of the pie with basic fees and promoted fees that i need to sell such large quantities to make a living that it is just not viable by itself anymore. I don't understand the lack of consistency. Some day i can turnover £500, and other days sell absolutely nothing. If Vinted continues to build this year i can see my self transitioning across 100%.

Making decision regarding selling variety or just focus on clothes should be easier than it seems for you. As a business you've gotta be open minded. Same as selling on different platforms is selling different kind of stock. My opinion - give it a go. Get stock at a good deal prices (dont take too much risk at start). After a month do comparison of how your business works, does it badly affect clothing busines, do you actually enjoy resell variety etc. There is only 2 outcomes after you try it. "Yes its worth and you'd like to carry on" or "no its not working out" - in this case as long as you wont pay up too much on stock - id confidently assume other reseller who specialises in variety would happily take all your variety stock at your costs or maybe even some prifit for you so its kind of risk free. Hope that helps with making decision 😊

Regarding vinted vs ebay - I'd say variety shop on ebay is better clothes only most likely vinted pulling ahead a bit.

I'm not sure if they operate in your area but I rent a storage container from parklet, 10ftx10ft they are so good, had zero mould or issues since I've had it.

i have a questions about sku system, i only have a.b.c.d which holds about 30 items each, these are all on a spreadsheet under bin location, once you sell something do you reuse number or do you create a new one,or what do you do? i know this is a simple question i just cant get my head around it.

Vinted is just so easy. and if i was pro, on ebay, well, i wudnt b, cuz i wudnt pay all those fees, and %'s and shop front and all the money they squeeze out of you, - No thanks!! i found vinted in the pandemic, and just started selling mine and my kids old stuff, to use the dosh to buy new stuff, win win :) I cnt cope with Ebay. Iv tried it since the bonus no fees since Oct, lit by accident realised that, and now i still dnt like it, and only sold bout 30 items, and already had someone pull a forced return on me INAD, - wtf?? and i fort and won with Ebay, but its exhausting using Ebay. No fun. Long, not quick. Slow to list, slow to sell. Thats just me tho. I can see your a PRO and a grafter, so ul made it wrk on any platform, cuz its ur job. Im just grabbin sum pennies for some old bits and bobs, now and again . :) x
