how many different ant types would be good to keep?
Woow nice nest! 😮 Where i can buy box for outworld? (link)
hello may i ask where did buy the aspirator
Are you using a fine play sand here or a more coarse kiln dried sand?
Can pogonomyrmex barbatus climb glass yours seem to climb better then my pogo occidentalis they can't climb at all?
I know this is late, but I’m planning on keeping one of these. I live towards north Texas, so I’ll have to make a trip. What months are the queens most active? And how many days after a good rain can I expect to catch them?
Really nice nest and out world. I enjoyed the video and found it inspiring. Where do you find the container you used for the out world.
do you have any tips for a messor babrus colony? ive just got my queen and she has 4 workers
nice nest! homemade?
Excellent 👌
nice
this looks amazing! but where's the lid? how are you covering the top? i assume glass, but how ?
How much ultracal 30 do you normally use per formicarium? I just wanted to estimate how much should be ordered, and assume at least one failure while learning.
Raising a colony from a founding queen takes months to years, it’s so easy to just poison or crush wild ants. But once we have to raise them. We see how hard and long it takes to form such an army ☝️
Hey so I was wondering did your ants die cause I didn’t see any vents for air flow in your home made nests
Are you still eating raw meat?
Fluon they dont like but can cross if they want to. Talcum does trip em up though... btw < 2mm ants may drown if fluon runs down and gathers into a drop. Guess how i found out.
Personally, I like to let the ants build the nest. I like natural earth nesting setups
Jeez just use tape or string to secure walls
Nice nest 👍
How do you clean those nests? You can't hardly take the glass off and keep them in....
Thank you!!
Love the new formicarium. I’m planning on getting into the hobby this year and have been looking at tar heel’s site with anticipation. Likely going to do C. pennsylvanicus so likely will be next year before I even think about a hearth :) Enjoyed the video!
Hey there! Question, did you ever heat the nest at all? Also, my queens are doing something odd, a small cricket invaded their current test tube and all they did was run it off, they did not attack. Thoughts?
these ants are so nice by far my favorite colony that I have. very interesting to observe. my queen has a skull on its back because of the scars from when she lost her wings makes it look like a skull logo on her back its real nice.
Where can i find a queen or purchase a queen like this one?
Alguém sabe algum inseticida pra, acabar com essa formiga, minha casa da cheia?
do you have any queens for sale this late in year , i live in your city
Where can I get the tank like you. Thank
Where can I get the tank like you. Thank
where these difficult species ?
Hello, do you have any queens for sale ? I’m in central Texas … let me know
Doesn't the plaster keep sucking the water out of the water tower?
Would hydrostone plaster be acceptable to use for this as well instead of the ultracal.. What kind of dyes are acceptable to change the color of the plaster?
What would you recommend the height between the floor to ceiling be when diying a formicarium for honey pots?
My ants i collected from national park have no place else to go except were i stationed them in big pot plant ...in city fier escape.....they are always busy!...
are they good for retaining heat?
Hey, really love your content about collecting those neoponera queens. I also live in TX and plan to collect several to keep. May I ask some more details?
Thats a sweet setup!
Can I ask why you used grout for the outworld? Does it expand less than hydrostone? I made an outworld with hydrostone and it warped the plastic so the lid no longer fit.
those are not camponotus they are trichomyrmex destructor
stumble upon your videos trying to start one my own, and your explanations are top notch! and so far loving the website with really affordable prices Nice!
What temperature do you keep this colony and how do you keep the condensation off the glass?
This is the best tutorial for a diy ant nest on youtube yet . Keep it up
It's very sweet to see people indulging in your hobbies. I know you mostly post about your ant keeping hobby, but it's also nice to see what other things you enjoy. I hope you and the ants are going well!
Best DIY nest i've seen! Congrats
