23:59: "If someone says to me, 'I wanna make six figures on Fiverr,' I'm like, 'Great, let's make it happen.' If someone says, 'I wanna go to L.A. and do Pixar movies and be in high-end video games,' I'm like, 'Cool, let's make that happen.'" I want to voice act for Disney. This part of the conversation sold me on Tom's coaching. Paul, you and Terry Daniel with Voiceover Sermons (who I learned about from your episode on top voiceover podcasts!) are my favorite podcasters. I love your content. Thank you for bringing Tom onto your show.

In Perpetuity means forever....and that's a mighty long time! I have been using the approach of offering up an alternate length of time (limited) so the client can stay on budget.. The AI aspect is a new wrinkle to this....thanks for calling this out Paul (and Carin). 😎

@@innercynic2784 lean times always thins the herd. I work in film and television for the last 46 years and the most recent strikes in Hollywood, backed right up to the pandemic sent even a lot of veteran’s packing. Our union International Cinematographers Guild Local 600 of course honored the strikes and then our IATSE contracts were up for contract negotiations in July and of course no producer in their right mind wanted to chance starting a show and then get whacked with another strike. We lost a lot of good talented members.

Is there a standard rate guide yet for cloned voice usage? It makes sense like Tom said that it's not a typical or full session fee but I'm wondering if an industry standard for that has come about yet. There's a book call Bull**it Jobs by David Graeber that applies somewhat here. The book is an explanation that there are some jobs that don't need a human to be done or don't need a college degree to be done and instead these jobs and college are built up causing an opportunity cost for jobs and opportunities that require actual people or actual education. It doesn't translate over perfectly in theory to practice, people need jobs and not everyone is going to be in a job that requires creativity, research, or that human touch but like Tom said it's very different if AI is doing a phone tree vs. performing something

But isn't AI going to always require a live person to edit it? I was doing some audio tours and I tried AI just to see the difference and found that I spent more time editing than as if I had just narrated it myself to begin with. Place names and other proper nouns are often mispronounced- For instance, here in the Sacramento area, Placer (a gold mining method) is a very common place name, and AI and those who don't know, often understandably pronounce it like "Play-ser" when it's actually pronounced like "Plasser".
