Welcome to CC Pipe which is all about productivity and helping creatives improve their pipeline.
The main subject is the Adobe Creative Cloud applications, with a large focus on InDesign. But also, Photoshop, Bridge Microsoft Office, and any other related software that you’d be interested in exploring. The goal is to help you work smarter, quicker, and better. And I really believe that the more effectively we can work with the software the more time we have left over for being creative and helping our clients achieve their goals.
And why should you listen to me, I’m certainly no design guru, but I am a full-time graphic designer with a degree in the subject and over 5 years of work experience. I'm curious, love to learn and finding new ways to save time in my work always gets me excited.

Thank you! Question, when you export the various ad sizes to PNGs is there a way to export them with the file size of each ad as the file name?
Hello Thank you for this tutorial. When I move to chapter 2, Heading 1 has correct number but heading level 2 starts again at 1.1 instead of 2.1. Could you please advise? I have tried with both linked and unlinked boxes at it's still not working.
Thanks for the nice video… Unfortunately for me trying to get my numbering to start on page 3 did nothing… It processed all the pages again and they all ended up the same. I don't have the numbers on the actual documents it's just the number as they are listed in the Book Panel, the Links & Pages panels. I guess I have to number these pages manually because they are all custom and I cannot figure out how to do a Facing Pages doc template for easy numbering...Still searching for that answer....
How do I achieve continuous numbering across all documents in an InDesign Book? My content is organised in chapters and each chapter is one separate document. All the documents are organised in an InDesign Book.
Hi, that's a good question, I've not tried this with a book so unfortunately I'm not sure how to do it or if it's possible. You might need to change the paragraph style in each document to start from a specific number. But I'd be interested if you find a smarter way. Thanks for the question.
You never made a video to quickly import word doc text then adding charts from excel (never seen a video like this or any alternative ways better than these charts from excel but free plus importaning imags) or linkings these charts to the report which is the video everyone need to create a great report. I always see your ways vert cool and fast that is I asked you to do so. Thanks s lot in advance.
Hi, sorry for the late reply. I have a video on importing from Word and also Excel but unfortunately I'm not aware of a way of importing the charts from excel. It would be amazing if it was possible. Illustrator has a chart tool, and I've also used Open Type fonts that allow you to create charts, one is called "Chartwell" but not free.
Keep on making videos!
Thank you I will, just been a while since the last one :)
@ you explain really well, keep up the good work! 👍🏻
Good but too rushed for technical idiots like myself ...
Yeah it is kind of my style and always how I liked tutorials myself, but I understand that it's not perhaps for everyone.
Do you have a video for your recommended presets for a book? and in general how to set up a document for writing an interactive/epub in InDesign?
Hi, I have this video about setting up a book file that might be helpful: ua-cam.com/video/vNEs8GQ6kHE/v-deo.htmlsi=Xazod8cdn0ZMVjGi I also have this video about interactivity in InDesign, I make a presentation but it might give you some tips anyway: ua-cam.com/video/PdocnUdhs6I/v-deo.htmlsi=-0McvBH0LbX2uu9x
best tutorial about this
Thank you, great to hear.
Thanks so much for making this guides, it's so hard finding design guides of why going for specific layout choices, I appreciate it! Would like to see some videos relating on how to design specific types of books and how to tackle design problems, example: catalogs, recipe books, sections in books etc.
You're welcome and thank you for the suggestions.
Straightforward. thank you!!
Happy to hear it, you're very welcome
You are the best thank you so much for this helpful video!
Thank you, you're very welcome
Very useful. Thank you.

Is there a way to change the color of text in text field?
For some reason InDesign doesn't seem to let you do this, but you can open it in Acrobat and adjust it. In the menu I'm showing at around 10:30 in the video, under the appearance tab, you can change the input text colour.
Hey, what a great explanation! I am starting out with ID but I have always been very curious. So, I saw this 2 lines (Liquid and alternative) and wow here you are giving me an excellent explanation! So , my gratitude for your effort! Best from Uruguay. One doubt, how do you delete a complete layout of those you made? Geez, I rewatched it all again, and more doubts popped into my mind: So, imagine I am using photographs for guide (lets say a product guide) and I want it in different layouts but using the same kind of grids, etc, Scaling is of importance here, so, do I use the same method for scaling the photos? (Images) .... thank you for your help!
Hi, super happy to hear it and thank you for taking the time to write. To delete a layout you simply delete it in the pages panel and you can certainly use it to scale photos too. But look at it as a tool in your toolbox, that you use when it seems useful. Good luck with your InDesign learning.
@@ccpipe You are the best! Thank you so much for such a cheerful comment! :) :) I look forward to more of your lessons!
Great video. But I'm struggling to create a page with multiple fields, which will be filled all at once with the same content. :-(
Not sure why you'd want to do that. I don't know if you can but probably at least not in InDesign. In acrobat maybe. I have a video on acrobat forms but I don't cover that specifically.
Intro music kinda garbage ngl
Thx, wrote and recorded it myself when I was like 17.
Very useful thanks!
Happy to hear it
You have just saved me 4 hours! Even maybe my life 😅 Thank you SO much!
Wow high praise haha, happy to hear it 😃
Thank you for this! Very easy to follow and extremely helpful!
Thank you, very happy to hear that
I think your video is delayed by a few seconds to the audio
Yeah, it might appear not synced in places, I actually record the screen cap separately to avoid keyboard sounds etc.
Very helpful!! Thank you!!
Happy to hear that
Hi, the video is great. I have tried to email the form but once I press the button to submit, I am not receiving the form. Any advice?
Hi and thank you 😀 If I remember correctly, what the mail button does is not automatically send an email, it is supposed to open the default mail app so it isn't very useful. It might be more effective if set up to a server, but I couldn't try it since I don't have one.
Ok make sure you enter "mailto:" and then the email address you want it sent to . Make sure there are no spaces between words or between the colon and the email address. It works for me. Then when you click the Submit button inside Acrobat, it should prompt you to choose how you want it sent.
No ability to center text
For some reason no, but if you open it in Acrobat you can change it there. I have a follow up video for acrobat features.
Ha! Literally 30 years of book design and I've never bothered with a grid. I see now that that might have been a mistake. 😁 Thank you for the great no nonsense tutorial! (One tip: "Leading" is derived from the metal "lead" [led, like Led Zeppelin], because typesetters would put strips of lead between lines of type-so it's pronounced "ledding" instead of "leeding.")
Glad you liked the video, I do try and keep it "no nonsense". Thanks for the tip, several people have corrected me about that mistake haha😅
Super helpful, thank you!
Happy to hear that, thank you
is there a way to add a photo button? thank you
Hi, do you mean make an image a button, this is possible, or a button for attaching an image when filling in the form? The later is not something I think is possible with a PDF form wirh indesign.
Thanks
You're welcome
The most detailed and helpful Tuts I have found on Styles in Indesign. Thanks a Lot. Keep Making Gems.
Awesome to hear, thank you

Hi from Upstate NY, USA and thanks for the new InDesign video!
You're welcome
I use this linking to make technical datasheets in Indesign :). I have several scripts that update excel tables with the latest values and these tables are then linked in Indesign. I've used this tutorial to finetune this and was very happy that I didn't make huge mistakes. The only thing that I haven't been able to understand is why Indesign sometimes applies overwrites to tables that haven't been touched :/
That sounds awesome, wish I could script more. Yeah I've noticed this happening with styles in general and don't really know why this happens sometimes unfortunatelly.
Superb little presentation, thanks
Thanx, happy to hear it.
Is there a way to get this to work in a master page template? In my case the duplicate will only work in the master template and its properties won't be transferred to a new page based on this master template (making this feature completely useless). Maybe I just forgot something?
Hi, sorry for the late response, I'm not sure I'm fully understanding your problem. But I don't think this feature is meant t be used on master pages, simply because the master page already kinda does the same thing. I haven't tried it though so can unfortunately not tell you my experience with it.
@@ccpipe No problem, thank you for replying at all. Kinda sad that it doesn't work in master templates. I have a textbox that gets duplicated and I only wanted to edit its content once. Now I have to place and link this box manually in every page that uses this layout. Not horrible but not so great either. ^^
Very clear tutorial!
Happy to hear it
Hi, I was wondering if you could help me with a numbering issue please? I have set up my paragraph styles as you showed but each new section starts at number 1 rather than go 1, 2, 3 and so on. Happy to share the document if that helps. Thank you.
Hi, it might be because it's not all in one story, so either in one text box or linked boxes. I couldn't find a way of doing this without linking it all as one story, so if anyone knows a way of doing it I'd love to know too. Hope that helps
Very helpful! Thank you!!
Happy to hear it, thank you
Nice....And helpful.
Thanx :)
Excellent information. Many thanks. Please create a video on how to bring chats from excel to InDesign easily and fast without staring from zero or updating the excel the reflect in indesign at once as well as if you have other ways make it possible that would be awesome. Many thanks in advance.
Hi, I have a video called importing from excel to indesign that might help, but I'm not sure what you mean by "chats". If you mean comments I don't know of a way of bringing those into indesign sorry.
It's pronounced 'ledding'
So I've been told 😅👍
Thank you very much!
You're very welcome
Wow! In your video tutorial you answered all the questions I had in my mind about the interactiv forms in indesign! Well done, and thank you!
That's awesome and thank you
👏
😊
I Love your accent 🤩
Thank you ☺️ it tries to be british but the swedish shines through haha
@@ccpipe beautiful. I love it
Very nice, straightforward and clear thank you!!
Thanx, always happy to hear that. It's what I want my videos to be 😀
To bad they have not updated this since late 0s o so... the styling of the elements is so outdated. Also let input 100 numbers manually. Really wonder why we need to manually input a list completely.
Agreed, InDesign could use some updates to certain tools that feel quite outdated.
@@ccpipe but I actually ended doing the same. This way you can have a print version and interactive version in 1 file. Than I used the layers to hide the interactive part for print
That's pretty much what my thought was as well.👌
You can style the field as you want, no need for double fields one over the other
Okay, when I tried it I didn't get it to work, maybe I'll try it again :)
THANK YOU, legit saved my life!
That's high praise haha, happy to hear it.
Quick questions, the first step in your action was to flatten all layers. But what if I would like to still access those layers and be able to make changes to them? I would then need to convert all layers to a smart object. But then it creates an error if ever I only have a background layer when I play that action. What would you suggest in that case?
Hi, since the action was about making a resized web output I would recommend keeping your layers in the original source file (psd/tiff) and just save the web output as a separate flattened file.
Gracias desde España
De nada :)
