What adapter you'll need to attach a Kremlin line to a Tritech Airless
Because Kremlin uses a number 5 JIC fitting, And the Tritech uses a standard quarter inch fitting, you need to get one of the adapters that I show here to connect the two

How I calculate how much 2k Renner to mix per batch
Переглядів 2,4 тис.Рік тому
This video is about mixing up 2k waterborne Renner products and how to know how much to mix up per batch. I use waterborne Renner 688 topcoat and 643 primer. I use them as 2k so I need to weigh out the product and then add the correct catalyst by weight. Topcoats I figure 2 oz. Per side per coat and primer around 3 oz. I figure a gallon or so of primer and topcoat for the cabinet boxes. This eq...

Can you do the same with Honey Maple? Are the base and glaze colors the same ?
Great info. Thanks
How long did you leave the Renner when you had to do horizontal before flipping them over? I haven't switched to hanging yet but definitely going to.
Hey thanks for your video, how do you compare this to the new graco xt490 ?im considering to get between these two machines, graco or tritech for air assist airless
Is part 2 not going to be uploaded?
Thanks for explaining the Renner primers and topcoats.
Thanks for sharing. Sounds like a real time saver that delivers very high quality cabinet door with 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of top coat on both sides. It should last a long time. Do you use a 2K hardener for the prime coats and topcoats? Spraying my bathroom vanity cabinets I found it challenging using a 2k primer and 2k topcoat. By the time the coating was dry the pot life was over and I had to clean the gun. So I spent a lot of time cleaning out the airless (Graco gx19) between coats. The doors came out great smooth and bulletproof but it was a tedious process. I used centurion 1107 primer, and 2800 topcoat with centurion 4002 hardener. Any suggestions on managing 2k pot life?
Actual lifesaver. Thank you!
What is your mind about sayerlack i always using sayerlack i never tfy renner now how is fnish after when is fully curve surface getting really harder or ?
I just got the Apollo and I’m testing out settings. I want to spray 643 unreduced so I can get the highest build. What settings have you used for 643 or another thicker water based coating that’s thicker like that?
I would use a 1.8 or 2.0 needle with the C air cap. I also reduce 5% for better flow. Adjust air pressure as high as needed. You can probably spray unreduced but won't get quite as good atomization. Also, I like to use a pressurized cup like a PPS cup.
@@homesteadcabinetdesign3406 thank you so much for responding. I just got the Apollo 6, supposed to spray unreduced. Have you ever tried heating up the coating instead of reducing?
@@aurthordunne yes that works but be careful if you add catalyst , as you can shorten the pot life quite drastically.
@@homesteadcabinetdesign3406 you’re saying the pot life shortens with warming up the coating when adding catalyst?
I would like to see different equipment (air assisted airless, turbines.) and different products renner, vs ICRO etc. On the how to side i would like to know Settings, thinning ratios etc. speed of your passes. i have sprayed before but i am relatively new so i always like to compare what others are doing to try and fine tune my craft.
I have learned a new trick from you. Removing the black ring from the cup lid and using it with 3M PPS 1.0 (old system) cup. Thanks.
I use this gun for three years now, and I love it. I use it with regular PPS cup and red cap HVLP.
Kremlin are great but very expensive. C.A. technology is cheaper but it gives the same results.
The advantage of having a separate compressor instead of having an all in one unit is that you can use that compressor with machines dedicated to solvents, as well as for blowing dust off your work pieces.
Very informative video! Thanks for sharing ❤
i think my problem is i am spraying to slow. i have an AAA sprayer and i notice that alot of people spray alot faster than i do
Are you familiar with anest iwata msgs200 gun? Comes with their 17:1 AAA SPRAYER
Very helpful. I'm almost ready to spring for the Kremlin Xcite but I'm trying to decide what tip or tips I want. I have always sprayed cabinet doors with a 308 FFLP off site but I am really hoping to optmize (Reduced overspray and slow application for control) for spraying face frames in the customers homes. I see that you like the 092\ 306. Are you using the fine finish or Xtra fine finish tips?Would you recommend that or a smaller tip for spraying face frames? I'll be using it with a graco 395 and a thomas 2820 compressor. Thanks

I just painted my first set of bathroom cabinets. Looking to do more this year. Thinking of buying the surf prep electric ray kit. I could do several kitchens per year. I do like to hang the doors like you are. I enjoy your content you make good videos for painters.
I used to hang, but switched to flat because I thought it would be a better fin and all the big cab finishers were doing it. I soon learned there was a learning curve and really never got use to the downsides like spray going under on the finished side or the bigger chance for debris falling on to my surface. But I kept on, never really thinking it was totally better way of doing it. Until seeing you switch, then realized all the different drying rack systems, ventilation to keep floating debris off my cabinets, the reach when you have longer doors, the wait to flip, worrying about scratching on the rack,ect... wasn't worth the time or effort when I already had a perfect system. I've got to switch back. thanks
I like your spraying table. Is it diy or you buy it from somewhere?
It's DIY
What was the reasons of switching from wagner to tritech in set up? benefits etc. thank you for interesting videos mate
Your channel has some fantastic info.
So what's the point of Sames Kremlin $5,000 system if you can convert an airless sprayer and get similar results?
Not every airless will perform well for this, but the Tritech pumps work wonderful!
@@homesteadcabinetdesign3406 Ok I see, I'm still learning how it all works.
Any experience with Sata spraying guns for water based coatings
I know this is old but, when thinning by weight I think you need to have a reference of how much each ingredient weighs by volume. 10oz of paint weighs a different amount than 10oz of hardener, etc. I think you would need to weigh out each ingredient and then calculate the weight needed of each based on percentage. All the thinning info I have seen on paint is by volume not weight. Maybe the italian stuff is different. Thanks for the video.
You can contact the manufacturer and they will tell you the percentage by weight. It will save you product and money over time
I just bought an apollo. Wondering Do I need to clean it up to detail every time I use waterborn? This doesn’t clean up like the normal Ones ?
Do you pick prior to priming as well? I’ve always had a problem with bridging and using the pick to open up gaps without tearing the wood grain. Would you recommend staying away from high build primers like 170tb and using something like 160tb?
ty ty ty for all the specific details! getting ready to use my apollo & renner for 1st time on both, in a couple weeks & my anxiety is off the charts 😅😞
Let me know how it goes. I'm happy to help!
We are waiting for part 🎉
Thank you for this, was considering a kremlin 30:1 to step my game up, but drastically underestimated the size of the compressor required, basically impossible to bring to the jobsite.
I want to begin spraying kitchens and was looking at hvlp over airless, I'm new to spraying. What's best hvlp or air assist?
Look into Apollo 7k series gun and thre 5 stage or better . U can get AAA units but price out it might me cheaper to buy a used airless unit and convert it like in this video
You want the best system in the industry. It’s called Sames. Look at a 15c25. Sames calls theirs Airmix. Not air assisted airless. Sames is even more efficient than air assisted.
@@13booch sure but how much? Thinking 4 to 5k?
@@doomslayerforever2858 I’m a distributor here in Toronto Canada. $5600.00 Canadian.
What pressure do you run for air compressed use for shooting latex through the Apollo 7700? Also, you didn't really talk about the O/S control and how it works, just curious about this because it diverts the air to the cup and bang. Have you had any issues with the material cup lid popping off? I am having issues with this. Thanks!
I haven't had the issue of the lid coming off. But I usually use the Apollo with the turbine and not the compressor.
I use a Fuji Q4 and spray Centurion 400series 1k and 1108 primer doesn’t require thinning. The top coat I thin by 5% because of my preference. Lays down better.
What would be better for spraying Acrylic paint? Airless or pressure pot? also which will waste less material?
Either one will spray acrylic paint. But not all paint brands spray out the same. Which product are you using? A pressure pot with a needle nozzle gun will definitely use less paint but will probably need to be thinned some. Airless is faster and easier, but uses more paint. I use airless for primers a lot, and pressure pot for topcoats.
so your using a cup gun for solvent vinyl and air assisted for 2k water top coat .
at the moment, yes. I don't like to spray solvent and WB out of the same pump. I'll be setting up a second AAA for vinyl soon.
Thank you so much for making this very informative video. Takes a lot of the guesswork out of choosing what hvlp system would work best for the user.
Hi, great video, looking forward to part 2! Do you have a list of the colors/glazes you're using?
Coming up soon!
Looking forward to part 2 as well. Thanks for sharing part 1.
Wow what is the color of the glazes sample square you have, love it?
Hi there, good video. What paint and catalyst do you use? I use renner 760 topcoat and add a small amount of water to a tin when sparying.
I use mostly Renner 688 or 851. I reduce by 5%. I have reduced up to 10% with no problems as well.
@@homesteadcabinetdesign3406 thanks for the reply. Is that the 2k versions? Do you spray that in customers houses?
@@thomasdelaney1557 yes
I'm a Fuji Spray HVLP turbine user and really like how it works
I recently picked up an Apollo Precision 5. I've been an airless guy for most of my cabinet refinishing career (started with a Graco 395, then to a Titan 655+, then to the T3 and T4). I've always struggled to get good finishes with HVLPs. I purchased an Iwata Anesta W400 a while ago for a toning project. It was fine for thin productions, but I could never dial in more viscous products. However, I am determined to shoot HVLP with confidence (hence my buying of the AP5). I shoot Renner 851 and C005. In your experience, what, exactly, is your setup to shoot 851? Here's what I've done so far. - 851 catalyzed - 5.8 PSI - 1.5 needle with B HS air cap - air valve completely open - fluid valve about 3 turns out from completely shut (meaning the knob would've rotated ~1.5 times) - fan pattern moved 3 notches down from completely shut - no reducer - shooting ~4" to 6" from substrate - Result: orange peel finish How do you set up your unit to lay it out like glass?
I use either the Renner 688 or 851. I would reduce with water at 5% to 10% till it atomizes well. 5% Should be good if your paint is warm. Put a gallon can in a bucket of hot water for a while if needed. If using a pressure pot or PPS cup, don't over-pressurize. Let me know how that works!
Thank you! About what PSI are you running on the dial with 851?
@@Gpen1988 probably around 6 psi. Give or take a little.
Very good. Thank you, sir! I really enjoy your videos. I just picked up the Kremlin gun and plan to utilize it on my compressed air and T4.
@@Gpen1988 nice! They'll be a little learning curve with that one as well but you like it once you got it dialed in!
You should try the ca technologies CAT-XPRESS gun. It’s the best of both worlds. I’ve been itching to get my hands on one myself.
I love my Paintline PSDR, I was hesitant to spend the money but it's worth its weight in gold
what adapter did you use, im having trouble finding one
what adapter did you use?
I personally use only what’s available to me locally so no Renner products. Only Sherwin Williams and Florida Paints. I’ve been using Sherwin’s new Gallery Series and it’s okay I wouldn’t say it’s worth the price tag but it does a decent job. But I find no matter what on verticals I get orange peel more than laying flat. Nothing comes close to the finish of spraying flat. Even heating the material, gun and substrate which helps considerably with flowing I still get slight orange peel. It’s bothersome but in a lot of situations I have no choice and the customers don’t have an eye for that like I do. Since the 1Ks I use skin over fairly quickly I speed it up with a heat gun and use screws in saw horses that leave a small almost unnoticeable dimples in the finish. I do like the fact that you can considerably speed up your turn around time with the vertical process although. Also in one of your previous videos you were using the Iwata anest Wider2 with the K2 air cap. I would just like to let you know Iwata currently owns the patent to their v-slot nozzle technology which double atomizes the material and creates a considerably finer finish than with conventional spray guns. The ws400 v-slot nozzle with the wider4 4l-j2 air cap are compatible with the Wider2 gun body. They both cost what the Wider2 is worth each I might add. But it might be worth looking into. And I currently own two CA technologies FE-Line guns. One I have the lcfm air cap on which I use only with my solvent primers and the other I use the compliant air cap for my waterborne top coat finishes. I notice the compliant cap is much better at atomizing high viscosity coatings than the lcfm air cap and can be adjusted to work well with a 2HP compressor. I will add the compliant air cap utilizes a completely different head insert and needle/nozzle assembly but it is compatible with any FE-Line gun. Maybe you should give that a try and compare it with the Wider2 for on-site or shop work. Great video looking forward to the next one 👍🏻
Good Info! thanks!
Good advice. You could also maybe try using 2 of the wave hangers at the same time for the big three hinge pantry doors , one hanger for the top and middle and one hanger for the bottom hinge in the middle, if it would fit in your drying room vertical . Just a thought.
Yes, my drying room is super small
Do you have a part 2?
Hope to do that soon!
What size compressor for the pressure pot? Or which one do you use? I’m looking into buying a painting system. I am a beginner. I want to use Renner products. Should I go with the Apollo set up like this video or do you recommend me putting a AAA together like an Greco 395 and a compressor with a certain gun maybe a G15 or the newer version? I will be painting cabinets in and out of a shop and house. Thank you. Great videos.
If you're just starting up, I'd go with either the Apollo set up or small compressor and pressure pot. AAA is nice but can be expensive to set up. A pressure pot for the Apollo needs only a very small compressor - Apollo makes one.
@@homesteadcabinetdesign3406 I did end up going with the Apollo 5 with the pot. Thank you for the good videos.
