For Disha*, this wasn’t just a nightmare-it was her life unravelling in real-time.
As a university student overwhelmed by academic pressures and the looming uncertainty of her future, Disha* recounts how a scam call from the ‘police’ plunged her into a world of fear and false accusations-leaving her feeling completely alone.
This video is done in collaboration with the Singapore Police Force.

agents are one of the worst being for manipulating housing prices despite housing a human necessity. more Singaporeans will be homeless and driven to depression and suicidal for not being able to afford a home. I hope agents children will be one of those to endure the doings of their parents.
Time to innovate. If youre an RES and looking for tech to innovate, drop me a DM
time to learn some real skills
Never work on a 2% commission, so underrated and no motivation. 25% commission is more ideal. (Factoring the expenses and sales effort to sell the damn property follow up for years if not the damn many years. 2% no way can cover agent's initial cost for advertising cost, livelihood expenses, transportation cost-buyers view, agent's sales effort,.........(Production time to sell efforts)
Competitive
90% of the housing agents are snakes, nothing wrong. However what is unprofessional and wrong is the missing truths and covered lies that comes along from overpromisies. C-vid was a eye opener for me
While real estate agents fees might be very expensive, at the end of the day, sellers are the ones deciding the selling price. Met a seller engaging homeseller, even at flat agent fee, seller wants record high price. Of course I walked away and looked for other units. If you look at it at another POV, aren't the sellers using flat fees agent just exploiting them? They want record high prices but don't want to pay the price. I don't own a home, but I hear people talk about selling at sky high prices even before MOP. Bought at 400k, want to sell at 1m. Everyone wants to be a 1m HDB seller these days. At the end of the day, everyone is just looking for a way to make the most money and buyers are the losers. Cos they have to pay greedy sellers and their agents.
Good, as an NUS real estate grad I see this as a very positive progress. The amount of effort and the payout of an agent is simply absurdly asymmetrical.
Low rates good, most of the haters here are agents.
5:02 need to pay high fee for your wayang cleaning of wine glass? I also stand by my freedom of speech okie :)
most agents out there are just salty of what homeseller achieved. most of them are just arrogant. some even demanded 3-4% commission, be it HDB or private. good to have this wild card disrupting their rice-bowl.
Wow so much toxicity in the comments
When is Mr Singh going to contest under opposition banner?
Keep up the good work guys! So long as what you guys are doing is truly beneficial to consumers in terms of providing reasonable, quality real estate services at a competitive cost savings model for consumers, it is admirable!
The stage is the true democttaicsl foundation is on the ever advancing civilisation is taken on as maturing good governance over !
Love to hear disrupting property high commission fees. Support!
"is there an alternative?" he presents that question in a way that suggests there is not. But yes there is a different way as it so happens...if you can't comfortably house a live-in maid then don't hire a live in maid. Simple. People the world over manage to clean and cook without maids, shockingly.
Isn't Singaporean always being censored in one way or another .... Which actually can be beneficial to the country as a whole. Look at what western countries have become without control ?
Wow earning $200-300k a year is merely top 20% of property agents in Singapore? Yet the top 10% of income across Singapore is not even $200k a year. Really puts property agent salaries into perspective huh... what BS is this?
Is it good to rattle the market a bit. I do have some ill advice from those who charges even 1 to 2% commission, drives expensive cars and wear expensive clothes.
the 2% agent really have no value in most case. Be it rental or selling.
Someone should setup a $999 flat fee service to disrupt it even more. If can be DIY why pay $1999 if there is a $999 or lesser service.
As long as we consumers can save money (we are talking about 5-figure) and have the job well done, we don't care who serves us.
People have a choice. Homeseller just exposes the useless and overpaid ones.
Past transaction is so easy to find out.. 😅 OMG, you are an agent, that shouldn’t be an excuse
The Singapore Govt dun help queer couple or singles. It is so sad. It is as if we are not a real citizen if we dun do get married and have children the way they think human should.
Just bought a 4rm HDB with appstore agency's rep with 1% charge who did little to reduce my home price & also quitted before my home sale is completed. I'm going with Homeseller once mop is up & I'm ready to use my 2 BTO chances.
In my opinion, the incumbent party prioritizes the people and acts in the best interest of Singapore.
Almost everybody wants to feel good about themselves and be generous. Nobody sets out to be mean or stingy. Until scarcity hits. Not enough money, time, space etc. Its not as simple as not rich enough to have another room then dont hire. If you dont free up time by having help..so u can bring in income, the family will be worse off. The country also further loses its already small work force and will have to import even more foreign talents. I have a helper and she sleeps in air con room with my son. But i really wonder for those that make inhumane remarks.. are they at a stage they have dependents in today's world and conditions?
He was among the best MPs we ever had from the PAP. Spoke his truth and spoke for the people, never the party line. Deepest respect for the man
Foreign Domestic Workers (FDWs) are human beings and require basic living conditions to survive. However this level of basic living requirements are not being monitored or have varied perceptions. An employer may feel that hiring a FDW is doing the FDW good by providing better work opprtunities compared to what they might have back home, and thus should just be fortunate of whatever living conditions they are being offered here. However more needs to be done to ensure the welfare of the FDWs are fully considered for them to properly carry out their duties to take full care of the employers' family. There is limited control/guidelines by agencies (both government and FDW) on what is considered as proper living conditions. Although information is available (on MOM website) on what is deemed to be proper, there is a lack of detail such as what is deemed to be 'adequate space' or 'sufficient ventilation'. There are guidelines as to what is stipulated to be enough space for a child in a daycare to fully thrive in. Additionally, there are regulations for dormitories so that our migrant workers are not cramped in a small room, with more than a dozen of their counterparts. This is so that their well being are fully considered for them to better perform at their work. Why not exercise better policies to control the quality of life of our fellow FDWs who are taking great care of our loved ones. Indeed this may be cumbersome, as many would potentially lose out after rolling out these controls and regulations, as they might not have enough space/resources to hire these FDWs. However, there are other resources which 'employers' may engage that may not need the help of live-in maids, to provide, food, cleaning or care services for their loved ones. We should not merely hire FDWs simply because they are a way more affordable and easier combined option, take them for granted, and not provide them the proper living conditions that they need or even deserve. Employers should thus be more empathetic of their employees. Maybe it is an opportunity for us to be more connected with out fellow neighbours/community and aid each other in whatever matters we are able to help in - afterschool care, bringing elderly neighbours to healthcare screening, etc. . An idealistic view, where we do not need the assistance of FDWs... but maybe it's possible.
What does it say about our society when there are people who believe that our authorities are capable of behaving like this. We've been socially engineered to take whatever they say at face value and scammers are taking advantage of that.
1 to 2% commission is reasonable if you compare with USA and other developed cities. Real estate agents in Singapore should observe and improve their communication, customer service and analytical skills. Most of the real estate agents i came across never able to answer questions properly and timely. Very low calibre and not up to standard.
Nothing wrong, you have not seen a big beautiful bomb shelter. With a bed, side drawer, with storage and aircon for her and a light weight door
Bomb shelters are an inherently outdated idea; dead space and HDB should phase it out in favor of a small utility room instead with better ventilation.
This concept merges the utility of real estate expertise with technology to streamline property transactions while leveraging the experience of retired professionals. Here’s a breakdown of the key components, benefits, and challenges: Core Concept and Features 1. Virtual Real Estate Agent: • Retired, experienced individuals as virtual agents, accessible remotely. • Focused on cost efficiency by outsourcing to retirees in developing nations. 2. Video Conferencing Integration: • Sellers walk through their property via apps like Zoom or a dedicated real estate app. • Video walkthroughs are recorded with consent for future reference. 3. Buyer-Seller Interaction: • Facilitated through the app, where details, videos, and presentations are shared. • Preliminary contracts signed digitally with cooling-off periods. 4. Commission Protection: • Contracts ensure agents are compensated, deterring bypassing of their services. 5. Delegation of Legal Formalities: • Final legal work outsourced to licensed professionals to complete transactions. Supportive Reasoning • Convenience and Scalability: • This solution democratizes access to real estate expertise by removing geographical barriers. Sellers can showcase their property virtually, saving time and travel costs. • Retired professionals bring trusted, deep local knowledge, adding value to the transactions. Counter-Arguments 1. Trust Issues: • Buyers and sellers may hesitate to trust a virtual agent, especially from another country. • Recording and sharing property walkthroughs might raise privacy and security concerns. 2. Regulatory Challenges: • Cross-border involvement of agents and varying property laws can complicate transactions. • Licensed agents may resist virtual agents due to concerns about undercutting fees. 3. Technological Barriers: • Dependence on stable WiFi/5G, high-quality cameras, and user tech proficiency. Action Points for Improvement 1. Build Trust and Compliance: • Incorporate AI to authenticate agents’ identities and track their credentials. • Ensure data privacy compliance through encrypted video storage and strict terms of use. 2. Localized Legal Partnerships: • Collaborate with certified real estate agents in Singapore to handle final legal steps, ensuring compliance with local regulations. 3. Scalable Business Model: • Consider subscription tiers for frequent users or additional services (e.g., legal advice, home staging suggestions). 4. User-Friendly Interface: • Simplify app usage with guided steps, tutorials, and multilingual support for a broader audience. 5. Marketing and Awareness: • Leverage digital marketing campaigns to educate property owners and buyers about the value proposition and safety of the app. Potential Revenue Streams: 1. Flat Fee/Commission: Charged for successful transactions. 2. Subscription Model: Regular fees for access to premium features or agent consultations. 3. Add-Ons: Paid services like property listing optimization, legal assistance, or targeted buyer outreach. By addressing trust and compliance issues while capitalizing on technology and expertise, this concept has the potential to disrupt traditional real estate transactions and generate significant value.
Looks like masking of NRIC numbers will not help if the victims reveal their NRIC numbers on their own...
23rd Dec - we got this scam and when we did a report at the police station, there are couple more coming in for the same type of scam reporting. - Tks for creating this video to alert
"I thought I knew everything about scams" - No bank will transfer you from bank to police in a call, both are clear separate entities "...point of this video... anyone can fall prey to scams" - This sentiment is overly simplistic... While due diligence is important, not everyone or anyone falls for scams; at least people who aren't naturally cautious or grounded in realism fall into it. For others, the likelihood can possibly be zero.
Anyone who calls you on the phone and say they are the authorities/police... Always decline any information/data requests and ask him/her for their name, ID, office phone number, and office/station address so as to set up a meeting at the relevant government office or police station, and that you will fully cooperate only after a face to face meeting in their office/station. That's what I do. They either just hang up or swear some rude shit like diu lei lo mo or some shit like that and then hang up. lol
Yes dude seriously
So Naive. This has been going on for so long.
I stopped watching at 1:13. Prevention steps for anyone watching and wants to know: - banks would send you letters, SMSes and emails (if you opted into them) instead of calling you. - with the first point in mind, if your account would really be in that bad a state the police were involved, I'd think your cards and accounts would first be frozen, so you can go to the bank branch to see what's up, before they would even consider calling you. - if it doesn't sound Singaporean, if it doesn't sound natural, if there's a delay as they wait for you to say hello (that's a psych tactic to get your emotional attention), you can put down the phone. Put down the phone before you become emotionally hooked. The easiest time to free yourself from the scam is before you emotionally give a shit about the person talking to you. Same shit for financial advisors coming up to you in real life.
LAME. Police already doing so much crime prevention scam talks ownself never do enough homework then panic.
Why do you care
Keep strong
Before the MOM approve the WP, the agency is already aware of whether there is space sufficient to accomodate another person. With most flats and condos having only 3 bed rms, if there are already 4 or 5 or even more persons residing in the premise, then there is no way another person like a maid can be given a decent living quarter. So the failure here are both the MOM, in approving the WP and the maid agencies (which are profit driven). And the outcome is these helpers or maids are literally being treated this way, which these employers would not even think they can reside in such living quarters, in a bomb shelter themselves.😆
Space is a luxury in sinkieland, not a necessity, just ask our ministers. Got privacy and space to rest good enough
What the fuck
Reminds me of the show “Dead Poets Society”. Good teachers are way under valued.
Buy a small space from your neighbor and attach to your house la 😂
If you scare to be disrupted , be prepared very prepared that AI and other automated tools can replace what current property/insurance agent could offer. You need a sales person to tell you what is the best koyo?
