PM Lee apologised to the voters in 2011. We are still seeing the same old problems (and more) in 2024 and as Mr Singh said, the needle has not moved significantly. How long do we have to wait then? I also agree with Mr Singh that the votes will not change much from the last election because I think the voters just want the government to change and not change the government. History has shown that the massive turnouts at opposition rallies and all the KPKB by the voters etc will not turn into votes for the opposition. Don’t take the ‘sentiments’ and ‘views’ from the ground too seriously. Voters still want to have the cake and eat it. The ruling party will have some concerns but it’s far from a dire situation for them yet for at least the next few elections. Don’t blame the PAP for doing the same thing over and over again because it’s the voters who keep giving them the thumbs up every five years. However I do think that the declining birth rate is not just a global trend but also citizens taking a more negative view of the future.
Middle income, with family including children and parent are the worst. Neither here or there, no significant payout and sandwiched between 3 generations and have to take care of their children and parent needs before their own. Meeting needs is already a problem, retirement is something they fear of thinking. There are alot of missing middles for this group, easily can swing the votes because all these issues like cost of living and housing are wicked problems not exactly solved over past elections and it is getting worst. When engaged on these problem, its either flanked or not addressing the problem directly. But its such a pity Inderjit not serving anymore. He knows the Job to be done framework.
Don’t put too much faith on these voters. These are not new problems and we have not seen any swings before. All your coffee shop KPKB will not turn into votes for the opposition. We might see a slight decrease in votes for the ruling party and that’s about it.
This is a very good interview. On the point about the PA controlling the grassroots in the opposition wards, I agree fully with Viswa, it is counter intuitive but let me explain. How many votes does the PA influence to vote for the PAP? Probably hundreds, for those who participate in the activities. How many votes does the perception of the PAP being unfair, influence to vote against the PAP? Many thousands. Most of the population live their lives without any interaction with the community grassroot organisations. If they think through this, they will realise why they lost Seng Kang.

When compared, our G has done above par in taking care of our people. How to stop vendors charge unjustified high price, stop youngsters take Grab and drink BBT, reject high import cost? That's a different challenge to upset which group that even parents can't do. We need to adapt to build self resilience. The nation can complain n sulk, we hv no natural resources nothing we can do except printing money to mask the gaps.
Please give budget from gov for the opposition grassroots. If pa in Sengkang pays for pap advisors to be there they should give same budget to wp. Fair. So many corrupt pap grassroots. Can see last few years in news papers and who knows how many more before that is undetected
The higher middle income has been squeezed whatever policy changes. The last increase in income ceiling is not proportionate to the increase in property prices hikes. As usual, dun qualify for public housing, neither can afford pte properties! The recent changes in hdb classifications n policy changes dun address the high BTO prices. They are merely distractions n changes the focus to localities n its effects. Even the recently introduced interim rental allowance while waiting for BTO with income ceiling n rental types still squeezes them out. This is a category who are not entitled to many grants, yet dun get even 1 cherry pick of public housing.
We need more people like Mr Singh, and it doesn't matter which party..But yes, trust has been broken, and i didnt agree about the old people being ok..Once strongest supporters of PAP they have been losing trust with the incumbents..second is the majority of young voters who are vocal now and won't take things lying around. A generation that goes against bullying of any sorts, the stunts that the govt pull sometimes to "fix" the opposition doesn't go very well with the youth.
No matter how passionate and critical of any policy, if the cabinet gods have decided on going ahead with any laws, the PAP MPs also cannot vote against it. Only the oppo can vote against and they have shown they do.
Government must focus on redducing inflation to2% but has done nothing but allowing market to decide on the course, inflation is still high. Giving CDC vouchers is not the way to solve this, it is short sighted to say the least.
@@yenvee9922I am talking about whose fault it is. You mentioned about failed housing policy and linked it to many youngsters not wanting to get married. If that's true, why are the Btos oversubscribed?
The ridiculous practice of awarding the losing pap candidate with the post of grassroots organization advisor reeks of banana republic politics. SG cannot truly claim to be first world while it has this kind of ridiculous unjust practices where a state agency (funded by taxpayers) is being weaponized to advance the political interest of its the ruling party. State agency is supposed to be apolitical. This practice is constitutionally questionable.
What i cannot understand why the general election is done at short notice and not maybe one year in advance for all interested parties to sufficiently prepared themselves for the competition and the voters are fairly given suffucient well prepared capable candidates to be elected. Anything done in a rush is not a healthy practice resulting in making a weak decision based on that circumstances due to insufficient time for a proper assessment.
Following that logic if a losing candidate can assume the PA grassroots advisor position then all those losing opposition candidate should be the grassroots advisor position as well but this was not practiced?
The younger generation should be taught how to APPRECIATE GRATITUDE the hard way, they should be taught a painful lesson on the consequences of weaponizing their votes, they would be wiser to think very very hard if they ever vote against the PAP...if the younger generation ever think its a good idea to bring in the opposition to power, they should study their history and ask their foolish predecessors about Operation Cold Store
Big problems wont be solved as they cant and they wont. Just the usual kick the bucket to the next generation of leaders. This is definitely not the type of leaders who demand ridiculous remuneration but not the ownership to resolve the big problems
PAP needs to seriously remove discrimination against working parents with young children in Singapore’s workplaces. Seen so many employers using “poor performances” during appraisals to penalise them for taking childcare leaves or unpaid leaves for families. Errant Employers especially, will use every excuse in their disposal to justify their actions… 👎🏻 That is one of the main reasons why the birth rates are so dangerously low.
With truthful MP like him, Im taken aback how bad the governance and policies are. Those of us who volunteer and see MP working know they are decent and hardworking. Its policies like GST 9% and the unhinged prices that force people to go the other way. You ended with "Trust". I don't trust the government. You go to sengkang, some of the people waited 20 years for a hawker centre to be built. Trust? You tell people to have children and the childcare cost is absolutely insane even after government "subsidy". 50 year balance HDB leases can see a 30% hike instead of following the Balas table. Mind you, I'm thankfully incredibly healthy, I never step into a hospital but that one, phew. A lot of these problems are not new, they happened in 2009, and you allow them to repeat in 2020-2022. And Mr Singh, you're right about WP. Actually, you don't even have to put very good candidates to win. I think the policy formulation better have some improvement or get new people to write them, people with on the ground experience. Based on how good some PAP candidates are, they don't deserve to be sullied by poorly formulated policies.
Biggest problem with pap now: they only can field civil servants who have a different way of thinking about politics. In fact, they get so uncomfortable when WP is politicising an issue. They expect WP - rightfully voted in - to be subservient to them. Bloody joke.
@@windydragon6522 PAP don't really field just civil servant, but the minister and legislation are dictated by a bunch of civil servants who all group think and don't factor in average people. And they are literally producing bad fiscal policies and can give wrong money. WP the candidate honestly are not as good, the minute theirs is better than the PAP people will pounce on the opportunity.
Question : *Are Singaporeans able to AFFORD COURAGE TO AFFORD DEMOCRACY ?* Do Singaporeans Dare to Speak their mind if they are not happy with any policy? Do Singaporeans understand Democracy is not waiting for permission to think? My Politically Correct Answer is , Singaporeans have balls of steel able to afford democracy. I hope to be given permission. Thank you , you
Present problem is the coming leader to be, thinking there are many levels down to common citizens, not doing ground works and expect their subordinates to connect and solve issues. They lost personal touched like what LKY did.
People already numb with the historical tactics - give chicken wing take back whole chicken. Even the old and retired got fed up. If they are sincere to help top up dollar for dollar to their CPF withdrawal own money pension fund instead having so many MPs and Mayors for such a small size island.
If he feels strongly about his views Why doesn't he join Tan Cheng Bok in the Opposition? Was there a LHL and GCT function in Cabinet and in Parliament? LKY does not need any supporters.
Too late, election day is very near. 4G has no more time left. The past few years stubborn policy had screwed the younger generation expectation, probably including the middle generation.
The interviewer could have taken a more objective approach to critique the political scene, by discussing the merits and shortcomings of the ruling party and govt. To focus only on the shortcomings reeks of bias.
Is the current housing crisis really due to land constraints as PM Wong explained recently? I am not sure people understand how much more land we can actually free up for the masses by simply reducing private landed housing for more public housing. This "lack of land" is only a problem because for too long the comforts of the rich have been prioritised over the basic needs of young people nowadays. Do better.
Irrespective what is said and done, PAP and its Ministers done nothing significance for Singapore survival. Instead of its development, Singapore engaged into colossal debt of 800 bilion and 30O billion Reseved erased which authority unable to explain. What hapoened to the transparency and efficiency become a virtuality.

Why the losing PAP members are still retained in GPCs and the grassroots? Very simple, PAP will do anything to retain control the grassroots and with no shame but using taxpayers money.
There is "honest, jostling debates" within closed doors? nobody knows the extent except what this former MP says. There is no incentive for MPs to debate as vigorously as one could within closed doors imo, as they're all within the same party.
Advice from the ground : 1. Stop acting morally superior (example, revenue generating sin taxes should not be used as a tool. Think carefully who is actually footing the bill) 2. Stop PA's (People's Association) cultural appropriation, rife with pink outfits. Leave the cultural inputs to the Clan Associations.

Errant Employers especially, will use every excuse in their disposal to justify their actions… 👎🏻
That is one of the main reasons why the birth rates are so dangerously low.
Distributed style, what that means?

Irregardless Of Outcome, PAP now Under Control… 😊

Look to history..no “dynasty” last forever 😊. They merely able to kick the can down the street..but for how long more
Too Bad but Powers That Be Prefer Obedient PAP now that They’ve been Caught Red Handed & Brought Under Full Control by …. 😊

Question :
*Are Singaporeans able to AFFORD COURAGE TO AFFORD DEMOCRACY ?*
Do Singaporeans Dare to Speak their mind if they are not happy with any policy?
Do Singaporeans understand Democracy is not waiting for permission to think?
My Politically Correct Answer is , Singaporeans have balls of steel able to afford democracy.
I hope to be given permission. Thank you , you
It look like reshuffle in the cabinet will b coming soon after Lawrence Wong become leader next week
Wen GE??
After payout transfer lah
Wat kind of a question lah bro
Interrupted Mr Inderjit a few times to add valueless comments.
Double Dippers also needs some Recognition for his unsung “ accomplishments “ to remain relevant 😂😂😂
From their discussion, you could see that the PAP's focus is only on WP. There is fear where WP contest
WP should start their own grassroots… sure will they get almost $600m a year of taxpayers’ money for it like the PA does?
Sorry I think it’s closer to $800m!!
Housemust be cheap and affordable like early days if not next generation no house then big problem
einstein's wisdom "doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome is the definition of insanity".
Too late, election day is very near. 4G has no more time left. The past few years stubborn policy had screwed the younger generation expectation, probably including the middle generation.
This coming election will see PAP losing, at least, another 3 seats inspite of the many goodies given out. In Singapore, money cannot buy votes.
The interviewer could have taken a more objective approach to critique the political scene, by discussing the merits and shortcomings of the ruling party and govt. To focus only on the shortcomings reeks of bias.
I like to buy a Vowel, "Augusta"🤭👀
Nothing last forever. 😂😂😂😂😂😂. Move on
Does he think PAP can change?
Before the national day if not end of year everyone holiday
I like yr video I am not Politician man I only ordinary lay man and without degree.I know the ground from 1975 UpTo 2023.My contribution was in the News Paper more then 16 times . From my opinion I agreed with Mr Inderjit Singh even on the 2006 ST He said In fact the PM Lee would prefer us to speak up rather than not .We can help provide imputs to strengthen or improve certain policies.I love to see all of us to live peacefully together I love Humanity.
Given the tariff hikes or GST hikes etc, GST rebates is self-funded (I suspect). 🤭 Goat hair comes from the Goat or is it You?
Cabinet should have 5G, earlier rejuvenation planning lesson from COVID-19.😊
"4g leaders have a short runway..." whose fault is that?
Gts
Frank discussion.

so when rich pap give birth to 10 sons -100 sons for SAF ?
Our Prime Minister Is A Vey Grateful And A Humbled Person. Nations
Please Be Sincere .
