What's your preferred iron product and are you hanging around for the GP? PS our house was Lovell, I think they left the spirit levels in the cabins
Looking mighty fine Daniel...never known a week like last week...no sunshine whatsoever...but dry,had to give my lawn a little drink towards the end of last week
Cheers Carl. I saw someone else on social media watering their lawn last week! It's crazy. Think it's forecast to stay dry a but longer but get colder over the weekend
Think today is the start of it Dan....bloody freezing last night
This is just me Dan but i would have left the Iron sulphate on the leaf for a few days before cutting it again
Hi Geoff. I would have done too but most of the product should have been absorbed into the leaf.
@TheReelMowingMowingClub iron sulphate what a great product I use it a lot and have great results mixed with the seaweed
Looks like a Webb witch with it's chain guard off there mate on your left lawn CCTV footage, you finally gone vintage British engineering🥳🥳🥳
Yup. Picked up a series 5 a few weeks ago. Wanting to refurb it over winter
@TheReelMowingMowingClub I have one, great mowers mate and 8 blade, tricky to adjust the cylinder to bottom blade though as cams on both sides with nits you rotate on the cross bar. You will love it🥳🥳🥳🥳
My front lawn has disease all over it. I'm going to try iron on Thursday. Do you need to water it all all if it stays dry for a few days after? I used some make it strong 3 days ago. Its not done too much yet. How often do you apply the make it strong this time of year?
I'll be looking to treat with liquids every couple of weeks along with iron now. Won't be watering after. Morning dee should be ok
@@TheReelMowingMowingClub Is it at the normal rate? The make it strong stuff doesn't really specify how often to apply it.
@stevenbelcher5658 yep. 3ml per m² I think. Liquids won't last as long as granular
Viva last Vegas baby🤣🤣Love Vegas, hope you saw Elvis while you were there😂😂😂What mower was that in your cctv, wasnt the webb weh12r🤔Thought you were going to blow all those leaves onto the road for a second😂😂😂lawns looking fantastic mate for this time of year. Back has filled out great now mate🎉🎉🎉.
Cheers mark. No elvis this year . In and out of vegas (if you can say 7 nights is in and out!
@TheReelMowingMowingClub I was there in 1996, won about £300 on a quarter slot machine in one of the casinos so bought a ticket to see Tom Jones who was playing at the MGM grand. Fantastic mate, bet you loved it there, but the ladies of the night were a problem walking the streets. Got on my nerves after being constantly asked🤣🤣🤣
@markslade9722 was there for work. Been going every year since 2017. Rather stay at home these days. Had a drive down the strip once, and that's as far down the strip i got
@TheReelMowingMowingClub hope you have been to see the grand canyon at some point in the years you have been going there, and the hoover dam and lake mead. Weather is fantastic there also. We went to death Valley also while there🔥🔥🔥🔥When I was there they were filming con air on the strip with nicolas cage.
Nice to see another vid, back lawns getting there. Do you leave the grass a bit longer in winter?
Thanks Rich. Did you spot the error ?? :D I'll see how it goes. Holding up well at 20mm so far,
clean
Cheers Marcin

How is the back lawn looking now? I'm gonna bite the bullet do an experiment aerate the lawn and put down about 3 ton off sand. The lawn is 120m2 always been put off using too much sand with all the uk guys not using it or advising it. But the Americans get great results from it. Getting my sand from lovie quarry and concrete their sand comply with USGA guidelines so I am setting the bar high for myself 😂
USGA is good! Mine is only washed grit. But it is filling out nicely. Just need to keep the leaves off it now. Probably feed it this weekend.
Are we having another video Dan
Soon Geoff. Been away with work.
Mines a poor mans version of yours but Ive had afew compliments this season
Don't believe you! I bet yours is looking really good!
Haha this cracked me up
HAHA - it didn't crack me up!!! hahaha
Hi, nice content! I would like to invite you to try our smart irrigation controller. Are you interested?
Thank you. Yes it would be interesting. Can you ship to UK?
@@TheReelMowingMowingClub We are currently only selling in the US. If we sell in the UK later, I will contact you.
Is it too late to do this now? I’ve already done a renovation. Grass has taken well from the scarifying and overseeing
Too late in the season in my opinion to be doing anything as aggressive as core aerating now. Depending on where you are in the country/ world you could potentially get away with it, but it is a big big risk of nit repairing before the first frosts. Also, it's best to aerate as part of the first steps in a rennovation
@@TheReelMowingMowingClub that’s a shame I’ll give it a go next year when I’m doing my spring renovation. Goal is to get a front lawn like yours haha
The paving is germinating well, happens to us all🙃. Looking good though.
🤣🤣 proof grass will grow anywhere! It's even better in the stones!
I can say that your wee experiment seems to be working big man. Young Sims does have a problem starting his edger Lol. I was thinking about leveling with sand next year I think I will try it after seeing yours. Its looking really good for the time of year, keep up the good work. Ps the Carbohydrates thick liquid you recommended seems to be working too. Pity they have ran out of loads of stuff though.
It's good stuff is that molturf. I need to order some more. But glad the sand has taken. Next year will be a really good start to the season. A bit more seed, topdress and regular feeding and I should be back to Wembley of the north! 🤣🤣 need to think of some stripe patterns over winter!
It's wrong, its just no right and its against natural laws - tidy garage indeed, shocking! Lawn is coming along very nicely, well done. Cant wait to see it in spring.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Don't worry. It will be all be messy again in a few weeks! Cheers Michael, I'm getting itchy for spring already!
What height are you cutting the new grass? Lots of mixed advice flying round!
So this is being cut at about 30mm approximately with the Hayter. In the spring when I renovated the small lawn at the front, I gave it its first cut at 20/23mm after 9 days and it looks great now As long as you do not hack it down, you should be fine. Try to cut at the highest setting then bring it down slowly
That's coming along well, it's nice to see different techniques and to see it growing on sand in the UK is pretty cool
Cheers David. From my understanding, it seems to be frowned upon to use sand in the UK, an is supposed to lead to lots of issues. Time will eventually tell, but so far so good! Thanks for watching !
Its coming on fine Dan,but using the blower is it not dislodging seed that hasnt germinated yet, just a thought not a criticism mate ur doing well,i put a load of iron sulphate on my lawn last week and its kept the worms down for now.take care pal
That will be the the sulfates in the iron. Worms hate that stuff. Worm activity seems to have reduced on the front lawn for me. Glad yours have reduced. Need to slap some iron on mine soon. Any seed that's not germinated by now isn't going to germinate so be fine. Some of the newer seeds that have recently germinated might not make thr winter anyway!
It's getting there Dan 😜👌🏼, what height are you cutting it with the Hayter 🤔?
Cheers Gazza. Setting 3, so I think that is around 30mm. Not quite thick enough for the Webb yet
Glad it’s coming together for you bud, slow burner because of the time of year. But come next spring it will be in even better shape ready for the new season. Great work 👍
Never in doubt! 😆😆😆
You've got to be well pleased with that Dan I didn't think you would get that much germination I cant wait to see that lawn next year I would keep up with the seaweed fertilizer for a few weeks and if the weather is favourable you might get it totally covered before winter
Very happy Geoff. And with it getting thicker day by day, I'm hoping to cut with the webb at least once before the end of the year
Did u blow the leaves under the fence into your neighbours? Haha i must have missed somthing there...love the video's mate encourage me to take up lawn keeping on my own property. Love from scotland
Hahaha yeah, stuff him, he can put them in his bin🤣🤣. No, fortunately, there is a bit of a ditch for an old stream that no longer exists. I own the land to the mid point of the culvert so technically blowing onto my own land 😁. Thanks for the support!!
Hello from Central GA, USA. Surprised you didn't use a light manual reel mower that you can pick up to change direction to prevent damage to baby grass plants. Cheers!
Good Evening and thanks for watching! Never been to, not even for a connecting flight! Need to sort that! Because the sand is still exposed, I don't want to blunt up the blades (just back lapped it a few weeks ago). Also the hayter gives the suction to get the leaves that didn't get picked up during blowing. Plenty of vids with me using my manual reel on here!
where are you from ?
Hi! North West of the UK.
@@TheReelMowingMowingClub West Pomerania Poland regards
@marcins7322 brilliant! I've visited Rzeszow many years ago and stayed a t a lovely hotel Thanks for watching!
I absolutely detest these people, who have no respect for our properties. Do they live in flats and dont know what the green stuff is. I have said to numerous people, from posties to delivery and junk mail people "KEEP AFF MA GRASS" it takes seconds to find the concrete thing and walk on it. RANT over 🤣🤣PS I feel your pain too Big man.
Had it before and had to have a word! It's ridiculous! Use the path!!!
😂 I had to have a word with the window cleaner yesterday, he not only had his bucket one my front lawn then only to put out the water and ask for more !!! I won’t tell you what i said to him but i was fuming !!! He turned up with flowers yesterday eve 😂
Get them told!!!
Given the amount of steps he does in a day, using your path hardly saves any effort, it also shows a complete lack of respect for your property. My postman would always do this and I was always too late late to catch him in the act. Luckily, we have a new one now who so far uses the path.
Like the Idea of applying the autumn feed over a period of time
Keep the grass ticking over as long as possible. Lots of Americas hit their grass with a nitrogen blitz in autumn so I think it's a similar process
PMSL. 🤣😂
Livid mon!!
I feel your pain !!!!! I had the neighbours DRIVING over the corner end of mine about half a dozen times 😡 It doesn’t happen now 🤪
At least mine is only people walking on the grass! If someone was driving in it I would really lose my mind!!! Have you put nails down?!?
Pretty much went down like the video !!!! They seemed oblivious to what they were doing 😳 Tw@ts 🙄
🤣😂🤣😂
Livid!
my next door neighbour and vistors do it all the time i always say theirs a path used it
Not happened for a while then this mush comes along. An evri delivery woman used to do it all the time until I pulled her up on it
Some nice “keep off the grass” signs 🪧 from Amazon
This guy wouldn't have read them
I had an electrician come to price a job, we waved him in through the gates, but he shouted out, it’s no problem and he reversed onto the roadside verge after we had just laid turf on sand, he left 2 wheel marks - i told the wife to tell him politely that he wouldn’t get any work from me us, and he posted pictures of my house telling everyone what a cnut I was, never even spoke to the guy. I feel your pain.
How do you find the webb mower? What do you use to sharpen the blades?
The webb is fantastic Absolutely love it. I have a video on sharpen the blades om my channel
What’s happening with the Harris fencing ?
Think it's there for life now. 🤣🤣
@@TheReelMowingMowingClub new to the channel is there a video on the history of the estate / plot the back garden looks massive?
Got lucky with the plot, been here 5 years now. Originally farming fields once upon a time All houses built and sold so there is little interest from the developer to complete the roads. Apparently due for completion in November, which is when the fence should come down and that area be classed as open space which will be turfed.
Do u think we should be raising the mower blade yet Dan ?
Tough question. I'll be keeping at 20mm as long as possible.
Id go a bit higher mate less risk of moss@TheReelMowingMowingClub
Regular iron treatments should keep that at bay and the grass nice and tough
Any links for your mower and blower please??😊
Hi. The rotary mower is a Hayter Spirit 41. I bought this a couple of years ago from Facebook Marketplace. The reel mower is a older version of the Webb WE12HR that you can buy from Screwfix, Amazon or other online retailers. The blower is a Hyundai HYB5200 Leaf blower I got from amazon last year on a blackfriday deal for £125 ua-cam.com/video/WXUZRCKMKWQ/v-deo.htmlsi=78jEjmydjR3WaYSW www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B081JT9XRT/ref=emc_b_5_i?th=1
Looking good buddy. Shame about the dam worms. 🙂
Yeah, they've been a right pain this year
@@TheReelMowingMowingClub Mine are not quite as bad.
I love my lawn the same as the next person. A few weeks ago I bought my daughter 2 ducks for her birthday!! Don't ask 🫣 I discovered while airiatin that loads of worms were coming up, aka, the ducks love worms so ime effectively diminishing the amount of worms in my garden !! Do you think this is good for the lawn ???
Hope they have been named Jemima & Puddle!! Worms are good when they are in the root zone, aerating and relieving compaction, as well as helping to introduce good bacteria into the soil profile. It's just this time of year when they cause issues with their activity and leaving castings, which are unsightly. The ducks will be good in getting the above ground worms and grubs, and their poop can potentially aid in fertilising the lawn (like chicken manure can), but I suspect they may damage the lawn going for sub soil worms and grubs, especially if you have a bad leatherjacket infestation that will weaken the turf.
🤣🤣🤣 I did order a fair few pro turf bags
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you 🙏 Your lawns look amazing ! And of course a lot of time and effort. Looking forward to seeing the results in your back lawn. Speaking of that it’s what I’m prepared to do and I’ve only started looking after my lawns since May. And not sure if I made the right decision booking treatment with a lawn care company for just the basic package, seasonal treatments , starting with summer treatment in August plus aeration and seed which was done 4 weeks ago but by the end of the day there was hardly any seed left ! I I did question if the front lawns need to be scarified prior to seeding but they said no. Anyway I decided to mow and scarify the lawns apply Arigem 70/30 top dressing and reseed with Boston seeds Childs play ( this was on 5th October ) I also used pre seed fertiliser and fleeced but took them off after 2 weeks 🙈, last Sunday because of the wind blowing them off ! I’m 3 weeks in and no growth on back lawn and only a little on the front. My concern is the lawn care company rescheduled Autumn feed to this Thursday because I informed them I top dressed and reseeded but I’m worried the NPK may not be ideal due to new seedlings. I’m concerned because of what I’ve read that it’s too soon to put Autumn feed on ? I read Daniel Hibbert can supply a liquid to encourage seedling growth I’m not sure what it’s called. But if you could recommend anything to put on lawns now I’d much appreciate it 🙏 I feel I’d be much happier just purchasing all lawn care treatments myself which may not work out much more than I’m paying the company BUT I kind of went with it as needed aereation and not sure of company’s will just do that alone. I’m no expert obviously but I do feel the lawns were far to wet for aereation and that kind of batters the lawns too. I did wonder should I purchase some Firld compost no 4 and give it another go with temps looking pretty ok into November ? I kind of didn’t want to wait till next April - May as want ti get them more dense for my grandchildren to play on In spring.. May I ass I was using Envii seaweed up till reseed and it helped a lot. Apologies for the long post Daniel but if you could give me some advice on my next steps I’d massively appreciate it 🙏 Thanks so much for taking time out to read and would massively appreciate any advice from you where to go from here and any recommendations of products and will definitely be keeping up with all your videos 🙏
@@TheReelMowingMowingClub Hope you see my comment as I didn’t realise I’d commented on Cigarlawnservices 🙈
Hi Paula. Thanks for watching and subbing!! Lots of questions! First, lawncare companies. There are some good ones there (such as CJ Garden Services) and some franchises that seem to have a bit of a bad rep. I would recommend using a local independent firm if possible, if you wish to go this way. These guys usually have a bit more of a passion (as they set up for themselves) and will strive to get a good lawn for you. For the seed, this time of year it is a much harder to get germination. The seed will need moisture and heat to germinate. If the temps are too low, and not kept moist then they will struggle to germinate. As per my back lawn, it took a lot longer for me to see germination than what I have seen previously. As we are approaching November quick, it maybe more of a risk and expense to put more seed down now, as if you do see germination, it could be adversely affected by frosts that will be coming soon - now this is a MAYBE as the weather could stay mild. For improving germination, several studies have shown that seaweed products can increase germination rates. Also, the Molturf product I use is recommended to be great at helping germination. With my back lawn, I will not be overseeding again until spring where I will do a scalp and overseed.
@@TheReelMowingMowingClub Thank you for your response and advice 🙏 and on fb group too. Autumn treatments were applied on Friday so will get seaweed on mid week 🙏
Do you always mow the grass the same direction or do you alternate the stripes every now and then?
Every so often I will switch it up. If you continue to mow in the same direction everytime, it can force the grass to grow in that direction.
If it’s any consolation, I scarified to bare soil, leveled, seeded, top dressed with compost and fleeced first week of October. 2 weeks later and its looking similar to yours. Very patchy and some places the seed hasn’t taken at all. I too wish I had done it a month earlier. I had wash outs and a few days with frost in the morning. Looking at your video made me feel a little better as you can’t account for the weather and the missus was in my ear ‘I told you to leave it alone’ lol.
Glad to help!! Not too concerned about it though. Grass is hardy stuff and the drainage improvements where the main focus for the back and believe this has been resolved. Hopefully yours and mine, will improve with the mild weather we are having before winter sets in. A winter fert may help you. I'll be applying one soon.
You know Dan I would be pleased with that and it should be a good start for spring
Cheers Geoff. Want to get on with the Webb mower with it!
That will thicken up mate snd spread over autumn and winter
Fingers crossed It's thickening up day by day.
@TheReelMowingMowingClub you will be all good by spring...I would hit it with a bit if seaweed and little bit of iron over winter
Already had a couple of seaweed doses and a bit of iron from the granular. Will be spoon feeding this I think though over the coming months
Its getting there mate was bit worried at the start of the vid, good progress in this video, like you say might need an overseed in the spring like my lawn.
Slowly but surely. Hoping for a thicken up over the next few weeks before winter kicks in! But a bit more seed next spring won't be the end of the world! A night it looks ridiculously good
I feel your pain mate. So gutting after all that blood, sweat and tears to find you did not get the results you wanted. But nothing much can be done from now until next Spring as we cant change the weather. By the end of the video it looked far more green than sand though, so not so disheartening as first thought.
As Gary Barlow sang, just have a little patience! 🤣. Always knew it was a bit risky on pure sand, and no compost, but it's coming good.. pretty happy with where it sits now. Bit of work in spring before the kids can destroy it next year !! 😂
@@TheReelMowingMowingClub nice Dan, been so mild lately also that it is sprouting up so fast. I am so impatient, after seeing mine last year germinate within 4 days, that I want it to always be like that, but found out like your back when recently doing my mum's back garden, can't always happen. But again like you I wish I managed to get my mum's back done about two weeks before the date I did it, and think the results would have been so much better. I will have to overseed bare areas in Spring now.
UA-cam is a funny old game - why are we watching you talk about your lawn? and then a sped up video of you spreading fertilizer? It’s all good material .. but it’s weird innit.
😅 but you did watch it! Not sure if it's funnier that people watch it, or the fact I film doing it, then spend hours on a crappie laptop trying to edit and upload it!
we had a lot of wash out was just chatting to caroline we both said we had a wash out in oct 2022 and nov 2022 and if u look in this video heading Part 20 friends lawn recorded on 14.01.23 First video of 2023 three months after seeding in oct 2022 looks little better had a alot of wash out heavy rain and lawn struggled
Bloody UK weather isn't it !!! 🤣 biggest worry will be disease in the areas where there is a load of plants fighting for space.
