- At the end of the EFL Championship 23/24 season, I watched the mighty Blackburn beat the hungover champions, Leicester City, 2 - 0 at the King Power Stadium.
This stadium is renowned by many turf fans with the fantastic patterns the grounds staff create.
My dad asked me that day, are you going to do that to your lawn, so I've give it a go.
Haters gonna hate, but this is the method I use to create what I call an Irish Tartan!
Thanks to all who watch and subscribe. Means loads!
as always, big shout out to green-care.co.uk where I get most of my lawn care products, and have created a 5% discount code for all;

Sometimes I sprinkle some bonemeal/fishblood (from home bargains - cheap as chips) before a downpour of rain - really really greens it up - very high in nitrogen and improves soil also 👍👍👍
That's what I use as a pre seed fert as the phosphorus levels are higher than the nitrogen and potassium. Cheap as chips.
I'm trying something else this week that's ridiculously cheap
Class job m8 - well done indeed sir ☘️☘️☘️👏
Thank you caolan !
Crocketts theme tartan lawn vibes. Love it
Needed to go one better than the standard cross hatching!
Fabulous Dan,looking good, took my fleece off my lawn and looking good few patches here and there but really good 👍
Cheers Carl. Get the mower on it and mow as often as possible as that will force the grass to use its energy to become wider in the leaf than taller and tiller out more blades
Will do Dan...keep the videos coming, really enjoy them...
I like the way you have trained the dog to pee off the lawn 😂
Yeah he's a good lad on the front lawn. The back is full if green spots tho!
Superb! Great job. Keep up the good work. 🤟
What type of sprinklers are you using?
Cheers. Gruntek sprinklers. @gardeningonalowbudget has done a bit of a review on them
GRÜNTEK Circular Sprinkler on metal spike. Sector sprinkler lawn sprinkler settings 30 °- 360 ° for large surfaces and optimal garden irrigation. Covers up to 452 m². amzn.eu/d/iHGhHIK
Perfect. Thanks for that pal. 👍
Brilliant channel just catching up with all your videos. Do you just use the Webb and Hayter mower. Subscribed 👍
Cheers buddy. Always good to get feedback like this!
Just the Hayter Spirit 41 (bought second hand for 150, spent about 150 on it when the engine had a fit, and now has a wheel that's glued on!) And the Webb (second hand for 45quid, been brilliant!)
Also have a Qualcast 35S but that needs to go. Not really run right. Bought couple of years ago second hand for 150, spent 150 on a new engine 🤦🤦.
I think I need to buy new!
Looking 🔥 brother! Cheers from mid west USA!
Cheers man! Early for you in the mid West!
Looking very nice buddy. If you had a cylinder mower with more weight to it them lines would really pop. 🤩
One day. That cobra fortis 17b is on the list.....
Looks fantastic. I guess it’s the powered cylinder mower next.
Maybe. Need to sort the back out first though so that's where funds are going!
Superb effort. 👍
Cheers Keith!
Hi Dan, Lauren from Scotland here.
This looks more like Scottish Tartan than Irish Tartan?
Also, what’s in the orange bag?
Hi Lauren. Thanks for the comment.
Irish tartan is very similar, but is based around one colour scheme, so being multiple shades of green accomplishes this.
The orange bag contains multiple other orange ge bags. Have a look at the other videos to see what was in them.
Looks superb Mr Reel Mower 👍 My lawn has been looking good since i redone the whole thing, but after 3 years of no over seeding ime starting to see it dwindle in quality. Next spring i will over seed and top dress then it should be back to looking good. Would love a cylinder mower but theyre so expensive!!
Thank you sir. This rascal is super cheap. about £100 brand new or you can get them second hand for buttons. The original classic versions of these push mowers you can pick up for small money but you might need to do a bit of work on them to get them running sweet. No engine, no problem 🤣
@@TheReelMowingMowingClub I might go for 1 when I do my lawn next spring then it will be even more level than it is just now!! It's good, but could be better 👍 greetings from Scotland 🏴
Forgot to say I loved your intro, Back once again with the renegade master, power to the people 🙌
Stick a bag of sand on top of the Webb for easier stripes 💪🏼😎
Will give it a go. Striping up reasonably well at the moment though!
Sorry for got to say I love the tartan.
Cheers man!
Hi Dan how did fast green work out? Only asking as I note from your latest video you’ve since applied a feed and other liquid nitrogen etc?
I had been waiting to see your result of Fast Green before applying it for myself.
Interested to see the results of Bumper Crop now though
It wasn't a fair enough assessment if I'm honest. I used a bottle for 100m² over 160m² or so, and did it across two applications (one where I put a bit of iron in there.
But I would go for the elixir stuff. Not only is it the nitrogen boost, it's got potassium, phosphorus and magnesium which is all beneficial for the plants, which isn't in the Fast green, plus it's cheaper! 9quid will get you upto 2000lts of the stuff!
Has anyone ever seen the use of ad blue? ( diesel exhaust fluid ) as it is urea 36% which is basically liquid nitrogen. The rest of it is water. Even cheaper than evergreen.
It’s all the rage in the 🇺🇸 USA. Just wondered if your subs have seen or used it.
I remember a guy in a Facebook group adding it to his lawn and destroying it. I'll be keeping it in the diesel engines and not on my lawn 🤣🤣🤣
How do you know the height its set to on this mower ? There is no scale or markers, where do you measure ?..... Can I also ask if you have any trouble with the chain locking? I'm finding on mine the rear roller / cylinder gets jammed and therefore doesnt move or slides (roller not turning) instead. On investigating it appears as if the chain is getting jammed. Can't find anything else causing the jam or blocking the parts turning. Greatful for any suggestions or advice. Would be great if you could do a video all about this mower ?
Hello sir and thanks for watching.
I have made a setting piece to set the HOC.
I will be doing a video on it this weekend.
@@TheReelMowingMowingClub Oh wow that will be great !! Thanks
Did you still only use the 10 litres of water for the half a bottle? I've got roughly a 50sqm lawn and to think I need to put down 50 litres seems mental. I'd have to refill my sprayer 5 times. Thanks again ;)
Howdo tommo. Not sure if it was 10 or 6litres of water for half the bottle. But I don't think evergreen has a sprayer rate, just a watering can rate.
I'll be going on again with the rest in the sprayer with about 6ltrs of water. Look to water it in the day after. Leave it on the leaf longer
@@TheReelMowingMowingClub Thanks again chief. I’m learning a lot from your videos 💪🏼
I'm looking into getting that reel mower. Does it have the washboarding effect when the grass is super thick?
Not had an issue with it doing that just yet. I do look to alternate the direction themough to try and minimise this.
Best thing to do is use one with more blades but your looking at an old school qualcast panther or similar
Thankyou 😊
I have the same webb mower, what height do you use to get a good stripe? I'm currently using its highest setting
This is set at 20mm on this cut
I tip my hate to you pal, awesome
Thank you sir! Worth the effort!
@@TheReelMowingMowingClub without a doubt, it must be so rewarding to see it look like that
I'd be happy just to grow a decent lawn ffs. 😂😂😂
I fell down the rabbit hole and now well into lawn care. Bank manger keeps asking what Green Care is on my statement!
